#BernieFine accuser Zach Tomaselli will file civil lawsuit 2morrow in Pittsburgh.

@MichaelBenny "This http://www.AndersonAdvocates.com is the lawfirm representing #BernieFine accuser Zach Tomaselli in a civil lawsuit against #BernieFine" "#BernieFine is the only person to be named in the civil suit according to the attorney working with accuser Zach Tomaselli."

Jason Whitlock interviews Zach Tomaselli

14

This should be interesting. It's an hour long. On twitter Whitlock says, "Tomaselli says he believes Schwarz leaked his story to Post-Standard." For those keeping score at home, pretty sure that's what Whitlock hypothesized the other day - his conspiracy theory was that Schwarz leaked it to the P-S so P-S could report on 3rd accuser and free up ESPN to drop the tape. As we all know by know, of course, Schwarz put Tomaselli in contact with Bobby Davis. I'm sure this comes up in the interview. And it just continues to boggle my mind at how inappropriate it was - especially before Tomaselli had gone to police.

Syracuse Criticized for Its Handling of Sexual Abuse Case

"You would be hard pressed to say that the thing was investigated the way that it should have been in 2005," Fitzpatrick said. "As we all know, the complaining witness had an audio tape that corroborated a lot of what he has to say. I find it unusual that the kid didn’t make it available. I didn’t see anything in the report indicating he was asked." As if Fitzpatrick is the authority on how this should have been investigated? Roach says she called the DA's office! Further, as Nancy Cantor writes in her letter to USA Today, "We also learned that the police had been informed in 2002 of the allegations, and that the news media had also investigated the claims but could not confirm the story...Why didn't we go to the DA? In our experience, the police and the DA are synonymous. We had no reason to believe differently in this case." Not to mention, what does Fitzpatrick mean, "I didn’t see anything in the report indicating he was asked [about the tape]." Why would the hell would SU ask, "Hey, Bobby, by any chance are you withholding some smoking gun audio of a telephone conversation that would convince pretty much everyone in America of your claims?"

SI.com - Fine scandal at Syracuse another dark cloud, but it's not Penn State

SI.com - Syracuse made right decision in firing assistant coach Bernie Fine These two SI writers are not ready to string up Coach Boeheim. In the second Seth Davis also takes a paragraph to knock DA Fitzpatrick and his lack of professionalism, comparing him to Mike Nifong from the Duke lax scandal.

And a Third Accuser who is currently 23 has come forward. This is awful. Absolutely horrible. Apologies to Bobby Davis, Mike Lang, Danielle Roach, and Mark Schwarz for any doubts I had.

Top NYC recruit rejects Syracuse over scandal

Sophomore Isaiah Whitehead from Lincoln HS is crossing Syracuse off his list, per his mother. Two other potential recruits, Jermaine Lawrence and Chris McCullough, indicated that they would need to know more before making a decision. Which is both fair and rational.

Syracuse, NY -- Bernie Fine, the assistant Syracuse basketball coach who is the subject of a Syracuse police investigation into charges of molestation, released a statement today to the media denying the charges leveled against him. The statement was released about 3:20 p.m. today by Karl J. Sleight, a partner with Harris Beach law office in Albany. "Simply put, these allegations are patently false in every aspect. The fact is these allegations have been thoroughly investigated multiple times. When evaluating the veracity of these accusations, please keep in mind that credible media outlets were approached in the past to publicize these false allegations and declined to do so. I fully cooperated with all past inquires. "Sadly, we live in an allegation-based society and an internet age where in a matter of minutes one's life long reputation can be severely damaged. I am confident that, as in the past, a review of these allegations will be discredited and restore my reputation. I hope the latest review of these allegations will be conducted expeditiously. "Finally, I appreciate the Chancellor’s statement that I should be accorded a fair opportunity to defend myself against these accusations. I fully intend to do so. There should never be a rush to judgment when someone’s personal integrity and career are on the line."

Curtis Brinkley scores his first NFL TD

6

Curtis Brinkley having a BIG game. Had three straight plays to tie the game. First he made an impressive catch on a 20 yard wheel route. Then he went over the top for a TD. Finally, down 20-18, he caught a pass from Rivers and barely got the ball across the plane for a 2 pt conversion. Just now he leapt over his own center for a first down. Kid is playing his heart out. Proud that he's a Syracuse alum. He's been through a lot, makes me happy to see him succeeding like this tonight.

The Most Significant Insignificant Game Toledo At Syracuse. When I was a kid, the great Cy Ellsworth was captain and guard for Syracuse, and my family had season tickets. Ellsworth was from my hometown, and he played alongside Donovan McNabb and Marvin Harrison. He had to block dudes like Miami's Warren Sapp. Those were heady days. The last decade hasn't been so good for Syracuse, and my thoughts strayed from the Carrier Dome. But hey, the Orange might be getting good! They're 2-1, and they even made (and won) a bowl game last season, the first time that's happened since 2001. Also, what's the deal with Toledo? They're everywhere. First Ohio State, then Boise State, and now Syracuse. Toledo is like that one friend who somehow has the cell phone numbers of a bunch of famous people. What's his secret? Is he their "supplier," or something? Will Toledo be in prison in five years? Grantland: The College Football Spectacular: Week 4 Preview

* P.S.: In case you were wondering -- and I know you are! -- the top 10 BCS schools for non-conference scheduling (2008-2011) are as follows: 1. Tennessee 2. Georgetown 3. Arizona 4. Duke 5. Michigan State. 6. Connecticut 7. Syracuse

Scrutinizing traditional soft schedulers - Of course, these statistics don't matter. People just know in their respective guts that Syracuse schedules soft...and within the Otto-man Empire.

And in his travel pack is a copy of New York Times columnist William C. Rhoden's Forty Million Dollar Slaves: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of the Black Athlete, a book that Crump encouraged Walker to read as part of an independent study class on racism in sports. Before the Final Four, Crump suggested that Rhoden's book would be the first that Walker had ever made it through cover-to-cover. After the win over Kentucky, Walker confirmed this. "That's true," he said. "You can write that. It is the first book I've ever read."

Syracuse Orange (24-6) The Orange are leading the Big East -- and the nation -- in block percentage, at 19.3, which means they're about to end UConn's seven-year reign of terror in that category. What follows is a good-omen chart: Season BlockLeader Blk% NatRk 2010-11 Syracuse 19.3 1 2009-10 UConn 17.7 3 2008-09 UConn 17.1 3 2007-08 UConn 19.3 1 2006-07 UConn 21.0 1 2005-06 UConn 19.6 1 2004-05 UConn 20.4 1 2003-04 UConn 17.5 1 2002-03 Syracuse 16.8 1 That's right: The last time the 'Cuse ranked No. 1 in the Big East and the country in this stat, it won the national championship. Just saw Leo Rautins, father of Andrius, about 45 minutes ago here in Chicago. I'm going to the Bulls game tonight, so maybe I'll see him again while he's calling the Raptors broadcast. As you can imagine, the experience was as magical as you would expect.

Coach Randy Edsall of Connecticut Huskies hired by Maryland Terrapins, sources say - ESPN

10
Edsall, whose team lost to Oklahoma in Saturday night's Tostistos Fiesta Bowl, did not return Sunday to Connecticut on the UConn charter flight. Instead, said ESPN.com sources, he and his family were to fly from Phoenix to Maryland to meet with Terrapin school officials. Classy. I imagine his post-game talk went something like this, "Great season, men. Thanks for playing your heart out for me. See ya, suckers!"

UPSET SPECIAL: There's no particular Xs and Os reason to pick this one. Both teams have beaten up on patsies and lost to their one opponent of significance (Syracuse at Washington, USF at Florida). It's just a hunch that second-year coach Doug Marrone, led by QB Ryan Nassib and RB Delone Carter, is due for a breakout victory, and Skip Holtz's transitioning team seems like a ripe target.

Mike Williams, WR (4th round), Buccaneers It's never a good thing when apologists say a player is "misunderstood." That's the company line on the super-talented Williams, who dropped to the fourth round after plenty of academic and behavior issues at Syracuse. Clearly, Williams could be the steal of the entire NFL draft. His talent is ridiculous. His hands and play-making ability are unquestioned. He's been the story of Bucs camp, making play after play. But the questions will hound him until he proves otherwise. He got caught cheating on a test at Syracuse. He was suspended from the team after being involved in a car accident after curfew, returning from a trip to a casino. He quit the team. It's up to him to mature and become a professional.

Jordan Shipley, Greg Hardy, more potential NFL hidden rookie gems - John P. Lopez - SI.com At least the author wasn't a Mike Williams apologist. I wish Mike the best, but he didn't get booted from the university and then ultimately quit for nothing. That said, it's obvious that the dude is very talented. Zones will grow in importance. How else to defend Miami but collapse inside and hope that James and Wade can't make jumpers? The Suns' wholesale manipulation of zone defenses against the Lakers in the Western Conference finals showed everyone that there may be more value to be plundered from these packages.
