The 2010 NFL DRAFT FROM RADIO CITY...
Will have at least one dolphins and phinsider representative as i will be getting there weds afternoon to hang in line and hopefully pull up a spot close to the front. I haven't decided on what jersey i will be sporting but im leaning heavily towards my white ricky or ronnie. i will be extremley loud and and battling with the jets fans proudly and i also intened to drop a few comments (tasteful and commical not ignorant) towards a one rex ryan. So any comment suggestions that my fellow people have send my way now, and prepare for the draft baby! its invasion time in NYC.
Taylor to the Jets is close.
It is a sad sad day in Miami.
Report: Jason Taylor close to joining the Jets Posted by Mike Florio on April 9, 2010 2:55 PM ET In the wake of a belated April Fool's Day gag from Sid Rosenberg suggesting that defensive end Jason Taylor has signed with the Jets, Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that, indeed, the deal is "close to done."
Per the report, the remaining issues for discussion are the extent to which Taylor will participate in the offseason program.
The contract, if signed, will be worth $3.45 million over two years -- $1.5 million in 2010 and $1.95 million in 2011.
Brandon London signs with the Steelers
Best of luck to him. Although i am much happier with the decision to keep Lex last year i like Brandon alot and hope he does well. Thats an awfully crowded WR corp but i hope he gets an oppurtunity that he couldn't get with us. Im sure he will fit well with the organization... Seeing his name pop up actually is pretty exciting, i wonder what training camp guy we will all fall in love with this year that will replace the phinsiders beloved brandon london!
Decade in Review: The 12th Pick.
Being that we hold the overall 12th pick in this years draft i got to being curious where other teams have went with the pick in the past decade. It means nothing to this years draft but its kind of funny to look back and see what talent (or lack there of) was found with the 12th pick...so lets start with 1999, and prepare to cringe.
1999- Cade McNown QB Chicago Bears... not the start I was hoping for.
2000- Shaun Ellis DE New York Jets... Ehh
2001- Damione Lewis DT St Louis Rams... umm maybe we should trade the 12th pick?
2002- Wendell Bryant DT Arizona Caridnals... He now plays for the UFL Las Vegas Locomotives
2003- Jimmy Kennedy DT St Louis Rams... HOLY CRAP THIS WAS A BAD FANPOST IDEA
2004- Jonathan Vilma LB New York Jets... wheww, there is a glimmer of hope.
2005- Shawne Merriman LB San Diego Chargers... started strong, but i think his career is "lights out"
2006- Haloti Ngata DT Baltimore Ravens... ZING!! We have a winner
2007- Marshawn Lynch RB Buffalo Bills... Jets killer, looks like the predator, carries more guns then rambo.
2008- Ryan Clady OT Denver Broncos... solid
2009- Knowshon Moreno RB Denver Broncos... we finish strong
WELL, there it is my friends. A decade in review of our 12th overall pick. Lets hope we have better luck then some of our prior drafters and land a pro bowl stud for years to come!

Senior Bowl Practices Quick Hits
As many of us know our miami dolphins coaching staff is running the south team of the senior bowl this year, pretty exciting being that it gives our team a close hard look at alot of talent in this years upcoming draft! through 2 days heres a few quick hits ive got on both teams starting with our south team.
SOUTH
* Tim Tebow awful on monday, had an OK tuesday... not impressing
* Myron Rolle the saftey from FSU who went to oxford over the nfl draft last year has been super impressive, great character, due to his year away from football his stock fell so this would be a great pick should he fall into us with a mid round pick
* Taylor Mays is a monster, although his coverage skills are a huge question he has great hands and lays lumber like no other. Having a good outing thus far.
* Georgia DT Geno Atkins only weighed in at 286 but was unblockable, but hes a 4-3 fit... most impresive out of the DT's. Dan Williams also was solid and Terrance Cody is unmovable but lacks explosion and stamina.
* Florida WR Riley Cooper has incredible hands, but gets no seperation off the line... Sounds like Patrick Turner to me.
NORTH
* Mardy Gilliard is a playmaker. Very fluid, quick, seperates, and shifty... Moving on up the boards he is.
* Tony Pike has a new nickname from the coaching staff...unfortunatly its "bad ball pike"...ouch
* LaGarrett Blount is a bulldozer, extremley hard runner, and has a nice jab...but runs very upright.
* Boise State DB Kyle Wilson was impressive and shows natural football talent. Second rounder.
* Missouri OLB Sean Weatherspoon is very enerjetic, mobile, and hard hitting. He is also very vocal and assumed the leadership role in the first two days.
* Clemson WR Jacoby Ford is having a great week...very very very fast.
Ill come back with more on thursday for those interested. I know it may be dull to some but this is my favorite time of year!

NO TAMPERING. McDANIELS DID IT AGAIN.
With the aquiring of our new stud DC coming under some speculations it was nice to read here http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/20/report-mcdaniels-told-nolan-there-would-be-less-blitzing/ that the reason for Nolans departure was brough upon by Josh McDaniels request to halt the amount of blitzing in Denver.
Normally i don't put much stock in rumors but, this sounds more like something that would have went down knowing Nolans past. The guy repects the game and those around it, remember the whole suit wearing deal as a tribute to his late father? This isn't a guy whos going to risk his reputation by sneaking around with the big tuna behind Denver's back to work his magic in south beach. We can leave that kind of dishonesty to the nick sabans and pete carrolls of the football world. I think this was another power deal with McDaniels and someone who didnt want to do things his way but, hey thats his right after all he is the head coach and their loss has become our gain. I just see this as seizing an oppurtunity that came up and i hope all the phinsider faithful are as pleased to have this class act inside our organization and fixing our D!
HAHA BUFFALO TERRIBILLS
On the same day we make possibly my favortite move this front office has made by signing Mike Nolan. Class act and defensive master, the bills have found their new head coach in Chan Gailey.... CHAN GAILEY.
I now know the Bills have decided to tank their franchise in Buffalo so enjoy Toronto or L.A. in a few more years. HAHHAAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHA. thank you again buffalo, i knew you would find a way to screw this up and you have not let me down.
Realistic Draft Expectations.
It's very early and the combine will pull some guys ahead of others but, at the pace were on now you can get a pretty good idea of where we will be drafting (looks like somewhere between pick 15-25). Sooo eliminate the dez bryant's and ndamukong suh's of the world and lets see who we want repping our 2010 first round rights.
* Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois - STUD STUD STUD... god awful offense at illinois holds him back but, real potential to develop fast enough to make immediate payoff. I love this pick but fear a strong combine will bump him up out of reach.
* Terrance Cody, NT, Alabama - Not the direction id like to go in with it, but hes got the size and motor to be fergs replacment but, i just don't see the dominance that could be get elsewhere with this pick.
* Mardy Gilyard, WR, Cincinnati - Raw talent, huge upside. Gamer and exciting to watch but may take a little more time to develop then were looking for.
* Taylor Mays, S, USC - Stretchhh to say he lasts this long on the board because of his athletic talents and size but, some rumors of his football iq or lack there of in inner circles have him falling down some boards. Either way if you can get a saftey with his potential...you take it.
* Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama - football player, leader, talks with his play. everything channing crowder isn't but i dont see where he fits into our defense being he's projected as a OLB in the 3-4. Tuna will want a more explosive pass rusher with that pick.
* Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas - More the player we would pick to be the OLB. explosive pass rusher with size and speed to back it up...I hate the idea of drafting an OLB pass rusher though because i feel Cameron Wake will be "the answer" next year for it and DT,WR,S,and TE are bigger needs.
* Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame - If he comes out he will FLY up draft boards. He's tough, loves contact, fights for the ball, has the frame to bulk up,speed to outrun, and jumping ability to make up for small height. He is everything that ted ginn isn't but, does have some drops. I have a close friend that coaches at a big east college program and his opinion along with many others is that whoever gets this guy is getting a pure football player in every sense of the word. Also used to be a running back and could easily work into the wildcat. If he comes out and is available, me like.
* Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma - ANIMAL. Big play talent at the position with size and speed to match. Injuries scare you and blocking skills are raw but the upside is huge. this offense needs a dominant tight end and if our other needs are taken before our pick instead of trading down or settling for a lesser player, take this guy because he will be a monster.
Those are just some food for thought but, i love the draft and love hearing what you guys think so lets hear about it!!!

3 UP - 3 DOWN
WELL.... last week was pretty much a wash being that everyone for the most part had similar people selected... not bad though a few haynos predicts, and alot down on ginn so there you go. SO tampa bay... heres my 3 up and 3 down prediction.
3 UP
* Vontae Davis - Before he got a little banged up last week he was stride for stride with randy and aside from a amazing one hand catch he had him blanketed... i think he has surpassed smith as the better of the two but both will be awesome.
* Chad Henne - Coming along quite nice... if his recievers catch this could be a great game for the kid...stay away from ronde, veteran d backs scare me.
* Channing Crowder - FINALLY gets a defensive turnover... he has heard the grumbling of us and after being out will come back motivated to show he isnt just a loudmouth with alot of tackles, and no big plays.
3 DOWN
* Joey Porter - My advice...rest the hamstring for this game if we get a lead and let cam wake play.
* Yerimiah Bell - Just isn't breaking to the ball like last year.
* Anthony Fasano - Just like Haynos better right now.
3 UP - 3 DOWN
Hey guy's just wanted to try something a little different. I really enjoyed the 3 game predictions plus score that was posted last week then the vote for weekly nostradamus...i like to see what wild predictions people come out with and how close some people are to being right so im going to try something new id like to do weekly if you guys like it.
Ill call it 3 up-3 down. all you do is predict three miami players you think will have an up game, and three players you think will have a down game. Put a sentence as to why you feel that way and next week see who nailed it and who missed the boat...ill start it and hope it turns out to be something to pass the time till game day!
3 UP
1. Ronnie Brown - I see a big bounce back game for ronnie and the wildcat...especially against that seymourless line and old outside backer.
2. Joey Haynos - I like him again against the linebackers and i like how he was used last week.
3. Joey Porter - Hasn't been there like last year yet, but maybe seeing tom brady back there will light the fire for a dominate game
3 DOWN
1. Chad Henne - BB is a tough coach for any QB the first time they play him so i expect alot of looks in known passing downs. Hopefully we run the ball enough to not have to worry about it
2. Anthony Fasano - I havent seen much i liked, and with Haynos getting his touches...i dont see that changing.
3. Sean Smith - Randy is tough times for anyone... him and vontae will be awesome but, if he gives moss space it will be a long day.
Mangina says "no" to cribbs trade.
Eric Mangini says he has no plans to trade cribbs. Thus for crushing our return man dreams for now. I dont think it would make sense to trade him anyway because the guy makes peanuts and they wouldnt get alot for him unless a team overpays. You still never know but for now id rather see ginn return the ball instead of wasting a decent pick to get a guy like cribbs. GET DWAYNE BOWE!
WR? problem. TE? not far behind.
I think we all can completly agree that the WR is a tremendous problem as of right now especially with a young QB... and lets not be stupid, the higher ups know this, and im confident it will get fully addressed by the begining of next season at most. The more inconsistent area that bothers me is tight end. I think a solid tight end is key to developing a young qb. Were fortunate to have two great recieving backs as of now to dump off too but that can get tricky and also lead to some big BIG hits from linebackers on our prized runners. I like Anthony Fasano. I was happy when we got him. but somethings just not clicking and if its the loss of martin or the two fumbles being stuck in his head the guy just isn't there. Think Bill Parcells offense and thats the one position he has always been automatic with...he loves the tight end. tight end is the reason in my opinion we lost to the colts. In a perfect world we could unite little vontae with big brother vernon but, i cant see that happening. The biggest free agent i have seen listed is owen daniels but it looks like houston will offer him a huge second offer. Maybe one of our younger guys is the answer and next year or the end of this we'll find out but, what if they arent?? This o-line will be roaring to go next year with a year under the belt...ronnie must be re signed, henne must pan out. Im confident WR will get fixed somehow...but what about the tight end. Am i alone on this one?
Another Undefeated or Jets Superbowl?
Hey guys, okay i always wondered who most fans would root for in this situation. The jets make the super bowl and are playing an NFC team that is undefeated. Who do you pull for? I may be bias because i live in the NY/NJ area and loathe the jet fan more than anything or one on the planet. I would personally rather see another team go unbeaten then have to live with the hell of a jets superbowl win, but thats me. I know not all of you live in my area so just curious what you think?
