H-town Chiefs Fan born and raised in Houston Texas I was taught two things hate the Cowboys love the Chiefs! I've started a tradition with my brother 2 years ago we drive from Houston to KC to catch at least 1 game a year. Im a die hard fan who could name any player or jersey number almost past or present. I miss the good Defense of the 90's and hope we can return to form soon with an explosive offense and one if not the best back in the league!

3. Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel reunite in Kansas City: The arrival of two new Chiefs coordinators -- Weis on offense and Crennel on defense -- has some people in Kansas City thinking this team is primed for serious progress after a 4-12 season in 2009. To those optimists, I say this: Sit down, take a deep breath and check the depth chart. For all the experience Weis and Crennel have had with general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Todd Haley over the years, the fact still remains that players win games. And from all indications, the Chiefs still don't have enough difference-makers on the field to accentuate whatever wisdom they have gracing their sideline.
Our prediction: The Chiefs will be better this fall, but they'll still be picking in the top 10 of the draft come next spring.

Gonzo has 12 catches for two touchdowns. Last season, the Falcons had 19 catches for two TDs from the tight end spot all season. Meanwhile, in Kansas City, where Gonzalez labored for 12 seasons, the Chiefs have just two catches from the tight end spot and have yet to win.

From BobGretz.com:

Didn't know if anyone had seen this, but maybe we were wrong about the grievance all along...LJ is staying?

"There’s so much bad information out there about that grievance hearing over Johnson’s contract. The Chiefs did not file the action, neither did Johnson. It was filed by the NFL Players Association. The Chiefs weren’t trying to prove anything, other than to defend the language in the deal that lifted the guaranteed money in this year’s salary because of his suspension. The whole action was pushed by the NFLPA."

Arrowhead Pride Raiders Sign Jeff Garcia

Sorry not a bunch of details I just heard this on the way to work this morning.

The Raiders signed Jeff Garcia to a 1yr deal to "back up" Russell. I dont really have anymore details but it looks like the Raiders actually did something that wasnt completely stupid. This could be good for Russell to actually have someone to learn from, not that I want him to get better. But I miss the old Rival days when it was tuff but fun to watch K.C. go at it with Denver and Oakland especially.

Arrowhead Pride Bob on Dorsey

via cache.daylife.com

I know we have all had this convo. here about Glenn Dorsey, and whether or not he's a bust.....or hes this or that. Frankly I think he had a Decent Rookie year and will only get better. And hopefully one day be a dominating DT...Anyway, this is a really good article that Bob Gretz wrote about Glenn Dorsey. He makes some valid points.

off subject but this has been one of the most exciting offseasons so far and we havent even signed any players yet........

enjoy the read!!

Arrowhead Pride Anquan Boldin

Ok I know that a  WR isnt one of our most pressing needs, and most likely I dont see us running after any too hard in FA. But i thought this was kinda interesting to see. I know he asked for a trade request earlier in the year....and still might want one after this year as crazy as that sounds.

What does any think we have of actually landing Boldin, or the likely hood we actually try to get him.

heres the link

Arrowhead Pride Dorsey

I really wanted to do this for each rookie we've seen significant playing time from and could actually get a decent evaluation of.

I know you cant label him a bust hes only played 13 games, and I know the learning curve for linemen, and I expect him to get better(another impact player on the line would help) According to stats ive seen on here hes already passed The Great Warren Sapp in tackles, hes just has 2 less sacks. If you asked me Dorsey was brought here to stuff the middle pick up the double team and push the inside back. But what good is a double team when your DE cant beat anybody 1-on-1

I just wanted to know everyones thoughts on Dorsey are and where you think he will be next year.

Arrowhead Pride Problems

im at work so ive got to make this fast

from what ive been reading and hearing i thought id highlight a couple problems and see what everyone thinks.

Can we even evaluate good talent, or help players to grow? ( and i dont mean our new draft picks) Things like why havent we seen more D-Williams at linebacking with how short we are. What about other LB's we let go Fujita, Mitchell or even Walden and Savage I thought they were great role players. Lets not forget the one of the reasons our running game has gone down hill Tony Richardson. ( yes I know we didnt have shields or roaf....im just saying)

Or the signing of DVD and his great get caught from behind speed!( he has 7 catches this season) Mark Bradley was a good sign! But we would have never firgured that out if we didnt start running the spread...  I think we have poor talent scouts.

Dont take this the wrong way but with a season pretty much wrapped up why arent we given more of our raw players some play time EX: richardson, morgan.  Now overall  we have given our young players plenty of playing time and i think that is great.

Ive tried to give Herm a chance but more and more Im starting to see how incompetent he really is. He consistently makes poor game decisions. I read a recent article at warpaint that pretty much nailed my whole point on this one.

Sorry I know its very scattered and not detailed but duty calls

Whats everyones stance on some of these issues?

Arrowhead Pride D doesnt always win Championships

Im not a big stat guy so im going to try and make this as short and sweet as I can.

Herms a defensive minded coach and thats good but to me D doesnt take you all the way. You've got to have an offense and actually put TD's and not FG's on the scoreboard.

here are some stats I found online from the Ravens D over the last couple years.

2001  Points allowed per game (16.6) 4th best in NFL  take/give aways [-8] 23rd best that year they lost in the 1st round of the playoffs

2003 (17.6) 6th    [+3] 9th            lost in wildcard

2004 (16.8) 6th   [+11] 5th        no playoff appearance

2005 (18.7) 10th  [-10] 28th     no playoff appearance

2006 (12.6) 1st   [+17] 1st       lost in 1st round

sorry Im at work and didnt have time to find pass/rush yards but the point im trying to prove is even with a D that can shut out opponents you still have to be able to score. To me these are the most important stats anyway how much you let the other team score and how well you take care of the ball yourself.

sorry its a pretty sloppy post.

Arrowhead Pride Coaching in 09

Im not going to sit here and bash Herm, frankly i dont have the energy for it, and plenty of others have already taken care of it.

Im not too sure what to think about the coaching situation...as much as i dont want to say it, it would be meaningless to fire herm 5 games into the season. Herm like Croyle have 11 games to prove why they deserve to be here. Herm has done some good things this year youth movement and actually stuck to it which includes our great draft! (but on the other hand why do you have Mcgraw getting playing time over Morgan, sackintosh over richardson or taylor)

There plenty of things to say about the chiefs this year but, like i said for me this guys got the rest of the year to turn it around and prove he should be here

I didnt know whether or not Mike Holgrem is retiring but his contract is up in Seattle

or possibly the raiders coach that got fired Lane Kiflin(however thats spelled) According to what ive heard players really like him and he was starting to make progress in oaktown, but was cut short, well you know the story.

Who do you think would be good canidates to help this team?

Arrowhead Pride the playcalling

First off I just want to say Congrats for the Chiefs holding their own today against the big bad pats..

But on to the playcalling, im sorry but werent we suppose to open up our "vanilla" playbook this week and hit them with something there not expecting. I saw the some of the same plays over and over, I watched T.G. go in motion and L.J. run to his side atleast 6 times and it was about a two yard gain We ran the ball on almost every first down play and I know were going to be a run first offense but why didnt we hit them with a playaction and throw a bomb downfield Hell atleast try it once it was pretty obvious we were trying to grind it out...I forgot where I read it but I thought Chan was suppose to be good at adjusting at the half.....I didnt see too much of a change. the only time I saw a change was when Huard was brought in, THEN they finally took some shots downfield, WHAT happened to the bootlegs that worked pretty decent in preseason for Croyle. I would have liked to see a screen for charles or maybe a few more pitches to him to see what he could do, but he still had a good game for limited touches

I do realize it is a new team and new system and new O.C. and maybe we did try and keep it simple for week one, let the players try to execute, but if not I dont like what I saw from our offense, dont get me wrong we were decent against a SuperBowl D.

But BIG ups to our D for really keeping us in the game!!!!!

As for Croyle I feel bad for the guy, alot of people already want to write him off, I think Herm and Chan or somebody behind the scenes have it embedded in Croyles head "dont take a chance" yes we can win more games if Croyle can manage them which means more check-down passes and throws out of bounds. If we want to see what Croyles made of hes gonna have to take some chances we cant just keep telling him to manage the game, he needs a little bit more freedom, yes he can make audibles which is great... but thats not good enough. Maybes it me but I just dont really think KC is taking advantage of the arm this kid has,

did anyone else see D-mac getting burned on almost everyplay, thank god he wasnt our LT Croyle would have been out for the season. Does anyone else think we should put in Herb on the right side and see if he gels with the starters D-mac cant have to much left in his tank anyway and hes injury prone.

Im not trying to be negative just a little bit of what i thought we could do different

what do you yall think?

first post GO CHIEFS!!!!!
