USF And UConn Kill A 5-Hour Rain Delay With Dance-Off (With Video)

If this doesn't make you happy to be a Cards fan, very few things will.

UofL has world class talent on its club Rugby Team

From Guam's Pacific Daily News: Paul Nieves hopes to play for the U.S. men's national rugby team some day. "Hopefully, in the next year, me and Zach (Pangelinan) will be playing in the same team," the 20-year-old said via telephone from Louisville, Ky. Pangelinan played rugby for the U.S. men's national rugby team earlier this year. Nieves and Pangelinan played together for the under-19 rugby team that represented Guam in Taiwan in 2006. Nieves, formerly of Talofofo, recently scored tries for the University of Louisville Men's Rugby Club, which competes in the Ohio Rugby Union's Division III, according to University of Louisville's Web site. Unfortunately, he's looking to transfer to get more exposure.

Women's National Championship Gameday Reading

There's a chance the UConn Huskies are wholly unstoppable. There's a chance that the Cardinals are in for a beat down that rivals the previous two times the teams met this season.  There's a...

Indianapolis isn't thrilled with Louisville's planned publicity stunt.

. . .the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association isn't about to cry foul publicly. It instead chose to land a subtle jab about hosting the Sweet 16 - an event that other cities would love to have. An estimated 30,000 people are expected to attend. "We welcome the people from Louisville, happily, but if we had our choice of telling people about our city, or actually having them here to actually experience it, we'll take the latter," ICVA spokesman Bill Benner said.

The Arizona Daily Star visits Louisville, and talks about why Pitino might want to stick around.

"We're used to it," athletic director Tom Jurich said. "He should be the No. 1 candidate for any job that comes open. He's as good as they come, and he's been a great friend." Pitino, who reportedly makes $2.3 million a year, has previously said he won't leave as long as Jurich, a former NAU athletic director, is Louisville's AD. Along with some words from the players. Senior guard Andre McGee, a California native, credited the future Hall of Fame coach. "That's easy to sell when you're trying to recruit somebody," he said. "You can ask my parents or everyone else's parents." However, he said a visit to the city sold him on the school, calling Louisville the best college sports town in America. The city has signs at the airport calling itself such.

Michael Jordan made Will Scott cry, and other stories

A great article on Will Scott. As a child, he hung out with NBA players because his dad was an NBA and olympic doctor. His most memorable Olympic moment came one morning at breakfast. Eating a bowl of cereal, he looked up and saw Jordan, "like God," peering down at him. "I froze, and then I ran to the side of the room and started crying because I didn’t know what to do," the fifth- year senior recalled with a laugh during last week’s Big East Conference Tournament in New York.

Finally we're getting the national attention we deserve!

Senator McConnell on UofL's media coverage. "You know, even after Pitt and Connecticut had lost, I noticed on ‘Sports Center’ this morning – you can see where my mind is – they’re still not talking about U of L even being a No. 1 seed. The issue is Connecticut, after losing in six overtimes last night, is still going to be a No. 1 seed," said the senator, an avid U of L fan.

What does a Cardinal fan attending Georgetown do when his teams play? Write about it in the student newspaper, of course.

Will Tamplin has a column in The Hoya, and today he tells us of the dangers of wearing red in the Hoya's student section. Brave Man.

Sprechen Like A Fan

I don't want to dig up bad memories, but this deserves to be seen. And, in case you need this warning, it's better not to read the comment section.

Big East Alcohol Policy

A man who was sitting next to me at the Providence game told me that he was surprised that we were still selling beer in Freedom Hall.  He said that it was his understanding that we would...

Delk Is Out, Williams In vs. Friars

From The Article (most of the article, actually): Delk sprained his ankle during yesterday's practice. Delk made his first start Sunday against DePaul and scored 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting. "I called him Billy Ray Cyrus, he's a one-hit wonder," Pitino joked. Delk started in front of Williams, who has been hampered by a sprained right wrist the past three games. Williams did not attempt a shot against DePaul because of his injury, but was back shooting yesterday in practice. "I think he's 100 percent or very close to it," Pitino said.

Former Cardinal Sean Green Pitching for the New York Mets

From the article: " Up in the Mets’ suite on the 33rd floor, team officials rejoiced. Yes, they got Putz, but another reliever was headed their way, and that, too, was cause for celebration. His name is Sean Green and the Mets insisted Seattle include him in aiding their Great Bullpen Overhaul of 2008." "'Everybody I’ve talked to who’s faced him has told me he’s tough,' said outfielder Jeremy Reed, who was also traded to the Mets from Seattle. 'He’s the underrated guy here, you’ll see.' "That description has trailed Green from his high school days, when he was cut by his freshman team and instead accepted a job as equipment manager. He persevered, and by graduation emerged as a prospect, turning down a contract from the Blue Jays to pitch in his hometown, for the University of Louisville."

UofL Football National Champions!

I know Howard Schnellenberger is thrilled right now! He always believed in us, Petrino took us to the Orange Bowl, and Kragthorpe got us there! Now we can legitimately lay claim to being the (transitive) national champions.

A Semi-Technical HD Question.

So I watched the UofL - Syracuse game at home on "The Big East Network" on my HD television.  The game was not broadcast in HD, but in lousy old SD.  I was surprised that there wouldn't be better...

Let Angel tell you a story via the New York Times International Edition

How did Angel and the gang all end up at UofL? Here's how.

Latarrius Thomas Is Going To Eastern Michigan Without A Release

This is interesting. He'd rather sit out 2 years than play here. That sucks. EDIT: Here's a snippet of the story. Thomas could not be reached for comment Tuesday, but his adopted father, former New Smyrna Beach assistant Andy Cox, said that Thomas was already in Ypsilanti, Mich., enrolled in classes for the spring semester. Thomas chose Eastern Michigan, Cox said, because former Louisville defensive coordinator Ron English was named its head coach in December. However, Cox said Louisville had not agreed to release Thomas from his scholarship. "We're going to have a hearing about it, but if they don't let him out of it he could have to sit out two years," Cox said. "LT really liked (English) and wants to play for him." As of now, Thomas is paying his own way at Eastern Michigan, but Cox said if they lose the appeal at Louisville, they will appeal to the NCAA.

What do you want to see against Georgetown College?

It's the first game of the season, I'm sure you're pumped.  Even though the opponent is not that tough, there have to be a few big plays, or stats that you're looking to see to give us an idea of...

English vs. Kragthorpe

After the too many players penalty it looked like Ron English went after Kragthorpe.  Did anyone else notice this?  Does anyone know what was said?  He was certainly mad at somebody, and I don't...
