SI's predictions for the 2012 season
Nothing sours Opening Day quite like hearing your favorite team is expected to be one of the worst this season. Such as it is, I guess.
In any case, I'd love to hear your thoughts about their predictions overall.
Roger McDowell placed on administrative leave
I guess that wasn't going to be the last we heard of this after all.
August 14 2010: Former Chicago Cub Dwight Smith Sr. throws out the ceremonial first pitch to his son, Dwight Smith, Jr., at the 2010 Under Armour All-American Game at Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois. Smith Sr. was a coach for the American squad, while Smith, Jr. a player selection on the National squad. (Photo by me)

Saddest picture that I've seen in recent memory, Sean Gallagher (in his first appearance as a Pirate) alone in the dugout after loading the bases up in Milwaukee during a relief appearance.
I remember being at his first start in Chicago years ago and thinking he's gonna be okay. Now, not so much.

So, care to make Cubs Draft Day Predictions?
I'm actually amazed that there hasn't been more talk here of the upcoming 2010 amateur draft, with it now less than a week away. I've read some interesting stuff of late on potential Cubs picks, including a piece this morning on Cubs.com predicting the Cubs taking Asher Wojciechowski or Karsten Whitson. Whitson is a beast, to be sure. I'm wondering though what the opinions are about who the Cubs should or will take with the 16th pick. Any thoughts?
For what it's worth, I'm putting a wager on Alex Wimmers. Ridiculously polished college pitcher out of Ohio State, Seen him a few times, and it's not a stretch to say that he could compete for a job in the big leagues by early 2011.

Cubs fear surgery for Guzman
Dying to hear what the half-full crowd has to say about this one. I fear the Cubs are going to need to bring Baghdad Bob out of retirement to spin it.

2009 Cubs in Pictures
Last year, as part of a series for my blog Cubbie Nation, I started what I hoped would become something of a tradition; a year in pictures gallery, showcasing the players from the previous years roster.
2009 was surely a disappointment, but the tradition continues. Check out the the link for one last look back at 2009, if you can stomach it.
