What If UFC 117 Was A Soccer Game?
l
So, UFC 117 seems to be a Brazil vs USA affair for the most part. You look at Anderson, Alves, and Dos Anjos and you see dynamic fighters with multiple avenues to finish. On the other hand, Fitch, Sonnen, and Hughes seem to only have one path to victory. A path that not all fans admire, nor find thrilling to watch. Immediately, this made me think of my other favorite sport, soccer. When the USA faces Brazil in soccer, many of the same things apply. In order to overcome the technique of the Brazilians, the Yanks must execute a flawless gameplan consisting of high pressure and counterattacking. Wizardry on the ball is what the Brazilians do best, while the American's strengths are athleticism, cardio, and teamwork.
With that said, I tried to imagine what it would be look like if UFC 117 was played on a field, rather than in an octagon.
Anderson was already given a yellow for diving, but than was given the red for excessive showboating.
The Americans gave it all they had, but the skill of the Brazilians proved to be too much in the end.
