Omar's Home Grown Lineup

Andy Martino is a sports writer for a major NY area publication . And he -- and others -- thinks today's awesome, all home-grown Mets lineup is a testament to the legacy of Omar Minaya. See? B...

Turner Batting Third, By the Numbers

I used 2011's stats here... maybe Terry is trying to be all mathematical and stuff?

The Case for the Six Man Rotation

17

I wrote this, generically (with some Mets flavor) last week, and I think it'd actually work well for the 2012 Mets. Or could have, if we didn't bring in Ramirez and Rauch.

Hey, It's the Amazin' Avenue Prediction Thread!

Opening Day is right around the corner. Here's your chance to earn some future bragging rights. Make your predictions, and let's see how you do come the next hot stove season. And have fun with it....

An idea for a two-tiered fantasy baseball league, where some are GMs/owners and others are agents

I came up with this on a lark. Anyone want to try it? It'll probably need 24 people -- 12 for the regular league and 12 agents. Maybe even more, as in theory the number of agent spots could go as high as a few hundred.

Tweet the Mets?

Wouldn't it be cool to have a Twitter account which tweets out game events? Anyone want to help build it?

Projecting the 2015 Mets

Sky Kalkman has an interesting idea: "project the 2015 standings -- players under contract, prospects and expected extra payroll wins." Let's do this for the Mets only. Here's a link to the Mets payroll obligations through 2015 (via Cot's). Let's assume that the team has a payroll of $115MM and 1 WAR is worth $4.5MM. How many wins?

[O]f the $136.7M the Mets spent on players in 2011, $72.8M was given to players who could contribute to the team on a given night, and the other $63.9M went to players who were on the DL, players who were collecting big league checks in the minors, or players who the Mets were still paying, but who were no longer with the ball club.

In order to raise extra capital, the Mets have explored signing Kosuke Fukudome to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training (replete with curiously high uniform number).

An In-Depth Look at the Mets' Finances

The Mets are in a financial pickle but a lot of the details have been confusing. This oughta bring you up to speed.

I wrote this back in April, but it's just as un-true today as it was back then.

The Mets Are Almost Insolvent. Can Sandy Save the Wilpons?

Last year, FanGraphs named the Mets the 18th "best" team when it came to their financial outlook. I and many others made fun of FanGraphs for this seemingly impossible mistake -- how could a team...

The Time I Had An Anonymous Source

This Isn't My AAOP.

This isn't my AAOP, because I already wrote my AAOP, and I like my AAOP.  This is another plan -- a more likely one, and a bit of a thought experiment. Let's assume that Jose Reyes is going to get...

AAOP: A Title Run in 2013

Last year, I argued that 2011 should be treated as a dry run for 2012.  My plan had three goals: Figure out which players were assets and which were phantoms; get fiscally well; and build a...

That's what Adam Rubin says. (But maybe he is just lobby for the centerfield job.)
