D-backs 2012 Options Updates

With the deadline for teams and players to exercise their options for 2012, Arizona has exercised its mutual options for UTIL Willie Bloomquist and C Henry Blanco, while declining club options for 2B Aaron Hill and LHP Zach Duke. All four moves were expected. Twitter link is courtesy of Steve Gilbert, and the D-backs official Twitter page has similar news. In an unexpected twist, though, a follow-up tweet from Gilbert says that Bloomquist has declined his half of the mutual option for next year. Bloomquist is thus on the free-agent market, and supposedly wants a longer-term deal with the team. The 33-year-old infielder is represented by Scott Boras.
