I've written about the Cardinals since 2003.

I've spent most of my life in Springfield, Illinois, where you can see all manners of things, including, somehow, a small airport, named after Abraham Lincoln. I went to school at the University of Missouri, where there is a statue of Beetle Bailey.

Joe Kelly, Honda in the Garage

For the second year in a row, Joe Kelly has exceeded the Cardinals' expectations when they needed him to.

Pirates at Cardinals Open Thread: Joe Kelly Day

Joe Kelly is the Cardinals' Billy Hamilton: Discuss.

The not-the-worst-case Allen Craig scenario

The St. Louis Cardinals didn't lose Allen Craig for the rest of the season after all.

Cardinals top Reds, go heavy on the mayo

The St. Louis Cardinals escaped a Billy Hamilton-induced blown save thanks to some truly awful baserunning (by someone else.)

What do you do with Ryan Jackson?

The St. Louis Cardinals' bad shortstop options have had even worse Augusts.

Joe Kelly Can't Lose, for some reason

The Cardinals beat the Pirates on the back of their most confusing starter.

Pete Kozma is not Yadier Molina

A brief PSA about a comparison that doesn't make a ton of sense.

Cards at Pirates Open Thread

Lance Lynn (13-8, 4.02) draws A.J. Burnett (6-9, 3.18) with the NL Central lead on the line.

Cards vs. Pirates (on the waiver wire)

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates have both made last-second attempts to eke another win out of September.

How good could Mike O'Neill be?

Could Mike O'Neill be good enough to be the Cardinals' third-string Beltran-replacement?

Beltran and the perfect contract

Eventually a perfect contract tries to seduce you into an imperfect contract.

J.D. Drew's September call-up

Around SB Nation today, we're talking about memorable September call-ups. I picked J.D. Drew, because I figured everyone else was going to pick Luis Saturria.

Cardinals beat Braves, hit home runs

Matt Carpenter and Carlos Beltran homer and Matt Holliday somehow breaks the game open, despite desperately wanting to bring the St. Louis Cardinals down and collect his millions.

Braves at Cardinals open thread: August 24

After a brief delay, Julio Teheran is good at baseball.

Tyler Lyons returns to the rotation

Jake Westbrook is on the disabled list—which makes sense, at least—but Tyler Lyons, surprisingly, is his replacement in the rotation.

Braves at Cardinals open thread: Medlen vs. Waino

Now you know where Kris Medlen has been all this time.

Can Joe Kelly be as good as Joe Kelly?

The St. Louis Cardinals can deal with their sinkerballers one at a time, at least.

Cards at Brewers Open Thread: Lohse Day

So who bet on Kyle Lohse to have the second best season of his career in 2013?

How Jon Jay seasons work

The St. Louis Cardinals have gotten another wild Jon-Jay-season swing in their favor.

Cardinals at Cubs open thread: Kelly vs. Wood

Warning: Travis Wood is not Kerry Wood's secret identity.

How Jake Westbrook became a problem

The Cardinals called up Kolten Wong, can't call up Oscar Taveras, and seem to believe there's nothing they can do about Pete Kozma.

Cardinals at Cubs open thread: Kolten Wong Day

Jake Westbrook: 7-7, 4.11, 103.0 Jake Arrieta: 0-0, 1.50, 6.0 Jake "The Snake" Roberts: Unsuccessfully competed for the WWF Intercontinental title on multiple occasions.

David Freese and Kolten Wong

The St. Louis Cardinals have called up Kolten Wong, and unless he's ready to play shortstop there's only one place to put him.

Oscar Taveras won't get that call-up after all

Oscar Taveras's ankle, after a few months in limbo, finally leads to surgery.

Shortstops who aren't Pete Kozma: An update

An eerily timely update on the St. Louis Cardinals' other shortstops.

Pirates at Cardinals Open Thread: Morton v. Waino

Charlie Morton deciding to imitate Roy Halladay perfectly and then finding success is far and away my favorite pro wrestling angle in recent NL Central history. I'm just waiting for Halladay to...

Jose Abreu defects; still not a shortstop

The St. Louis Cardinals have no need for Jose Abreu, but he'll still make it more fun to be a baseball fan.
