Couple more cards!
one of the cards I got tonight
The Votto contract
Okay obviously you guys are happy Votto will be in a Cincy uniform. Even the amount per year is okay but does the length of the contract concern ya'll at all? And if push came to shove is he the type of player/person that would restructure his contract if needed to sign another piece to win a championship? Now this is a little off subject but wanted to actually really introduce myself. You all known I'm from Pensacola obviously but I'm Daniel, and feel free to call me that:) Actually really got into baseball in 1991, my grandmother was a die-hard Braves fan through the lean years and she got me into watching them and I became hooked! I gotta say thank you all for making me feel welcome to post here. Its really fun to talk baseball and to get the perspective of fans of a different team than mine. I definitely look forward to talking with you guys through the season and offseason on baseball, and of course the fun off-topic stuff:)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos/Mississippi Braves
Hello all dont post all that often but I am an avid reader. I'm from Pensacola, Florida and we have acquired
the Reds AA team. And I have the good fortunes of finally getting to see baseball on a regular basis(I forgot how much fun going to a game is). So anyways we play Mississippi and I was wondering who are the players I should be watching on Mississippi, and by watching I mean players that have an immediate chance of jumping to AAA and or possibly the bigs in a few years. While I very much remain a Braves fan, it is fun to see what kind of talent other teams have and at least it isn't a team that I despise. The Reds really have a bright future if their AA club is any indication of their talent. I'll try to keep you guys posted on some of the better prospects that I happen to see while at the games. My favorite one thus far has to be Georg.....er Mike Costanzo. The man has been killing it!
Greetings From Pensacola
Hello Reds fans. While I am still very much a fan of the Braves, we share a common team in the Blue Wahoos. Its really awesome to have a team down here with possible future stars. Managed to score some tickets and taking my son. So its been15 years since I last attended any sort of professional baseball game. This will be my son's first game. I'll try to stop in every now and then to talk some baseball with you guys and of course heckle you when Atlanta comes in and takes ya'll down:) Btw results from the first game Wahoos 3, Biscuits 1. Henry Rodrigez hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 8th to secure the win!
Spaggs vs Williams 2011 Def rankings
So decided to cruise over to the NFL's site to do a little comparison on stats/ranks for two certain defenses. ours and Da' Rams. Sorry couldn't resist(And yes wrong team) so here we go
Saints------------Rams
Stat/Rank
Pts/G: 21.2/13--------25.4/26
Yrds/G: 368.4/24-----358.4/22
Pass: 4157/30---------3301/7
Rush: 1738/12---------2433/31
Int: 9/28-------12/23
FF:(forced Fum.) 17/Tied-7th---------16/10
Fum Rec: 7/Tied 26th-----------6/Tied 28th
Sacks: 33.0/Tied-------------19th 39.0/Tied 15th
(Sorry the formatting did not like me)
The main idea behind this is to try to evaluate our past vs a potential future. While the stats may not be telling due to personnel defensively we were in the neighborhood of the Rams this season. Now I just wanted to get everyones thoughts on this.
Favorite Players or Former players in the NFL
Okay to go with opposite of my other thread these are for the people you like heres mine:
Least Favorite Current or Former NFL Players
Just like the headline says who are your least favorite to put it nicely, current or former NFL players just give two 3 names. Mine would be the following:
Emmit Smith: I love in Pensacola where he is originally from, he is an ass to the people from his hometown. So much so he tryed to charge a 9 year old for an autograph. (btw Roy Jones Jr. is from here also, and is one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet)
Brett Favre: Plain and simple his ego and that hes an a******.
So personally i dotn care for these two however both are(were) great football players.

Holy crap!
Goodness, gracious, Saints alive! NFC title game draws 33.3 overnight
A postseason of impressive ratings continued with blockbuster numbers for the NFC Championship Game.
The Saints' overtime win over the Vikings drew a whopping 33.3 overnight rating on FOX Sunday night, up 40% from Ravens/Steelers on CBS last year (23.8/47), up 5% from Giants/Packers on FOX in '08 (31.7/46), and up 19% from Patriots/Colts on CBS in '07 (28.1/40).
Ratings peaked at a 39.4 from 10:00-10:30 PM.
The 33.3 overnight is the highest for any NFL Conference Championship game since Cowboys/49ers in '95 (34.2).
Additionally, the 33.3 is the highest overnight for any sporting event (excluding the Olympics and the Super Bowl) since the aforementioned '94 game -- soaring past events such as Game 7 of the '01 World Series (27.0), Game 6 of the '98 NBA Finals (22.9), and the '06 Texas/USC Rose Bowl (22.7).
Vikings/Saints is on pace to be the most-viewed television program of any kind, again excluding Super Bowls, since the series finale of Seinfeld in '98 (76.3 mil). Currently, the 2008 Giants/Packers NFC title game holds that distinction, with 53.9 million.
Entering the game, the highest local rating ever for an NFC Championship Game was a 59.5 for the Milwaukee market in '97. The New Orleans market easily topped that number, drawing a massive 63.2 rating -- not only the highest for the NFC Championship Game, but the highest local rating ever for any NFL telecast on FOX, including Super Bowls.
In Minneapolis-St. Paul, the game drew a similarly massive 58.7.
The game did not dominate in all markets. In Buffalo, Vikings/Saints was actually outdrawn head-to-head by Extreme Makeover Home Edition on ABC, with Extreme Makeover drawing a 35.8 and the game drawing a 32.1.
(Sports Business Daily, The Buffalo News)
33.3= 33% of all U.S TVs were watching the game. and 63.2% in NOLA wow just wow
Deuce is loose with the trophy!
Despite what the "talking heads" may say, The best TEAM won. The Saints played the best TEAM game out of the two teams. The best TEAM doesn't turn the ball over 5 times, as well the best TEAM doesn't let their QB dictate what will or wont happen in the game as Farve did as 1 man does not make a TEAM. Straight up at the end of the game we won as a TEAM, and not as a QB and then the rest of the guys. Our defense did what they did all season and that was ATTACK. Now on to the colts and what surely should be the highest scoring Superbowl of all time! GEAUX SAINTS! and WHO DAT!?
Good Luck
From a Saints fan I wish ya'll luck. I think we all know this will be one hell of game and could end up being a classic. This is the game that I believe both teams wanted(Well I kinda wanted revenge against the cowgirls but....) Can't wait till Sunday will be one awesome game! And I hope should the Saints win well get a few of Vikes fans on board with us:) As I'm sure a few us will be rooting you guys and "The Favre" on in the Superbowl. So anyways good luck and may the best team win!
Funny pic
Label The Games
So I wanted to give a name to each of the games maybe you guys have some ideas? I think its already safe to say the red skins game was "The Miracle In Landover." Let me know ya'lls ideas. I think maybe the patriots game could be "The beatdown in the bayou." or "The Pats got punked!" anyways let me know what everyone thinks. Heres just extra words since there is a 75 word requirement:)
Down by contact
Okay the fumble, I thought for a player to be down it was their knee that had to be down? Then what are people talking about an arm or elbow being considered down, please enlighten me. On a side note this was a game that in years past the Saints would have just rolled over and died. These boys dont know what quit is they will play bell to bell and give 1000% effort. That is what makes this team special. And that is what could end up taking us to the promised land. Also I'm in Pensacola, Florida where in New Orleans would you guys reccomend watching that certain game that happens at the end of the season that determines a champion?:)
Jason Cole
So everytime I see Jason Cole(Writer for yahoo) eitehr write or get interviewed about teh Saints he for whatever reason seems to think the Saints will flounder. As well he has picked Minnesota over New Orleans to represent the NFC saying that Jared Allen will have 3 sacks against the Saints. He seems to be about the only person who is confusing this years team with Saints teams of the past. So I encourage everyone to write to him and let him know what we think of his nonsense.
