Step 3 - Profit
Or something like that -- I used to write quite a bit on the Giants a few years back, but ending up stopping because I lacked the time. I've started up again here: http://orangeandblackbaseball.blogspot.com/, mainly because the Internet just cannot have too many mediocre sports blogs. For good measure, I started a Royals one, too, since back in those days I shared a blog with a friend who had a Royals blog. That one is here: http://royalinexile.blogspot.com
I've also said things here, some of which are even funny::

The season is coming to a close and the Royals, once again, have a won-loss record that's less than desireable. This usually leads to some amount of speculation on the team's manager being replaced. If you had your druthers, with whom would you replace Ned Yost? Try to pick from legitimately available candidates. Video's barely worth a look, by the way, it's just speculation, although it could help in remembering managerial candidates.
No long rants, just throwing out numbers that I would have known were bad, but wouldn't have realized just how bad until I actually looked. Jeff Francoeur, OPS by month:April - .574 May - .934 June...
No, but really? I looked a few days ago for surface stuff, couldn't find anything offhand -- he's seeing the same # of pitches per plate appearance, his g/f ratio is virtually identical. His walk...
(I originally posted this on Royals Review, and hoped some here would enjoy it, too) In these days where media coverage is so pervasive that it essentially handcuffs athletes from being too...
In these days where media coverage is so pervasive that it essentially handcuffs athletes from being too outrageous, I lamented a bit over the lack of anyone we could all laugh about. While being...
First of all, I'm realizing that this is is a distinct possibility with Jeff Francoeur this year. Barring injury, he will definitely have the entire rest of the season to hit the nine more HRs...
So...somebody 'splain it to me. Why...oh why...in the name of all that is Good and Logical, would you pinch hit Jerrod Dyson in the 9th inning, down by one run, before you pinch hit Wilson...
I thought it a good time, what with all the negativity surrounding the Royals' recent slide back into irrelevancy, to talk about Alex Gordon and his arrival as a Good Player. He's been hot...
Let's see if I can keep this from devolving into a ramble. It doesn't look good, honestly, but I am going to give it a try. So, the Giants have needs, as do we all. I need to find a new...
Well, as you all saw during the interview with Joel...very cool gentleman. I think that if there was a book on how to be a good father of a sport athlete, he's read it cover to cover. I only...
So, for any of you watching on television, if you see a bald, brown fella a row or three behind the visitors dugout, wearing Royals stuff and generally making a nuisance of himself...well, there's...
Not many of us expected much of anything from Blake Wood this season -- and, of course, the season isn't over -- but at this point, Wood has been quite an under-the-radar contributor to the Royals...
Yes, that was sarcasm. However, I'll say that his recent moves could actually help him in the trade market in some small, possibly unintentional ways. I will list the reasons...out of order,...
Interviewer: "How do you feel after tonight's win/loss?" Player who had the game-winning hit/best performance in a losing effort: "Well, we just don't quit, we keep battlin' until the last out." ...
Interviewer: "How do you feel after tonight's win/loss?" Player who had the game-winning hit/best performance in a losing effort: "Well, we just don't quit, we keep battlin' until the last out." I...
Two players, playa: Player Alpha: .220/.310/.275 Player Omega: .195/.295/.317 It's pretty likely I'm not fooling any of you...besides, none of you would admit it anyway. Player Alpha is Chris...
Sure, you say, it's a recipe for disaster, but don't knock it 'til you try it. Miguel Tejada You will need: 1 video clip of Tejada hitting (2011) -- Doesn't matter when -- even when he...
I was looking at Jonathan Sanchez's game log, because it just seemed to me that each time he went out to pitch, there was a sameness to his starts: IP H R ER HR BB SO GB FB Pit 5.0 2 1 0 0...
Royals pitchers, the home runs they've given up, and how many have been solo home runs: Bruce Chen: 7 HR given up, 7 solo shots Kyle Davies: 5 HR given up, 5 solo shots Luke Hochevar: 10 HR given...
I am more than ready to get rid of pitchers like Kyle Davies, and Luke Hochevar not too far behind him. But the Royals have relief coming, and immediately, in the form of: the Minnesota Twins,...
A race! Between Kansas City Royal Jerrod Dyson... And San Francisco Giant Darren Ford. I've watched Dyson wreak some havoc on the basepaths this season in limited duty, and I've seen Ford do the...
Please, Ned Yost. Should Yost is start Mike Aviles at 2B instead of Chris Getz against the Cleveland Indians in game #1 of what is a pretty important series for the Royals? Yes...this would...
Some corny jokes I made about Mike Leake, fine purveyor and purloiner (at least, attempted) of t-shirts.
From Elias: Joakim Soria struck out Carlos Santana on three pitches, all called strikes, with the tying run on third base in the Royals' win over the Indians on Tuesday. It was the first time...
It isn't the .590 OPS or even how nervous he makes me on any ball hit to the edge of his range (although those things certainly don't help)...it's two other things, one of which might mean...
It's interesting at this point (April 18th), because it's almost literally been feast or famine offensively for Rowand. For every single game except one, he's had a terrific day at the plate or a horrible one. Of his 13 games played, Rowand has had: six multi-hit games, four 0-fers, two pinch-hit appearances where he got a hit in his only plate apperance, and...one game where he inexplicably didn't have a great or horrible game and went 1-for-4. Nothing to analyze, just interesting to see.
I'm not even going to sweat the loss to Seattle today...the Royals just ran into a buzzsaw named Michael Pineda. This guy looks to be the real deal and a half, and if this keeps up, it'll make it...
After Francisco Liriano was peppered by the Royals for 7 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings, I read the ESPN recap, expecting to run into the usual mixture of facts and fluff. I ended up reading this...
This is the man who wrote the insipid article on the beating of Brian Stow, basically blaming the incident on Mr. Stow himself. My goal is 1,000 signatures before sending it to the editor of the Observer-Reporter.
Lifted this from McCoveyChronicles.com, but essentially an idiot from Pittsburgh wrote an opinion column on the beating of Brian Stow (the guy that's in a coma because he dared to wear a Giants jersey at a Dodgers game and was nearly beaten to death despite not antagonizing anyone). Here's an excerpt from his drivel: "Maybe someone can ask Stow, if he ever comes out of his coma, why he thought it was a good idea to wear Giants' gear to a Dodgers' home opener when there was a history of out-of-control drunkenness and arrests at that event going back several years." Apparently "due to overwhelming response, comments have been closed", so if you feel strongly enough (like I do), I would advise using this link to contact the Observer Reporter and let them know what you think: http://www.observer-reporter.com/OR/ContactUs/
