Blueshirt Banter Could he have one more move in him??

Hey, Everyone.

Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Nashville Predators are asking the league for a "team-elected arbitration". This is an NHL first, and the Predators (of all teams) putting emphasis on keeping their player, but trying to come in at a lower rate. Don't know about you, but I get the feeling the Preds may have their own Antti Niemi on their hands.

Blueshirt Banter News or not???

Sometimes reporting can just be for the birds. I was reading this "story" earlier, and I had to make a serious comment here. I have had many gripes with the media and the different attempts at "covering" a story. If anyone has being on NYDailyNews.com, you may have come across this:

Blueshirt Banter After the 25 or so games...

I'd like to see this team make a deal, and solidify things throughout the roster. Having a little late-night (early morning) research, I went on CapGeek (thanks) and thought of a deal and a team to trade with. Now in advance, this may not seem so smart, but numbers and future returning players (Drury and Prospal) may dictate a big move being completed.

Blueshirt Banter Spezza back in tradewinds again?

Trade winds are once again blowing through Ottawa yet again regarding center Jason Spezza. There have been those who believe Glen Sather has looked at him as a possible target for a trade, if nothing emerges with the likes of Brad Richards.

It's me...Mario...let's jump.

Blueshirt Banter Another nut comes off the tree

Just got word that David Perron is now off the block. Hate it, but, good for St. Louis to have gotten their man.

Blueshirt Banter If you had to choose....

Let me say in advance that there are no other possible scenarios that have been discussed, other than the ones we know of. I want to be very clear that this is my thought, whole and totally; and I'm submitting this to indicate a thought I comprised.

With that...I offer this:

Blueshirt Banter Do You Want Brad Richards?

According to rumors (ESPN.com, etc.), the Rangers are expressing interest in Dallas center Brad Richards. There have been multiple reports of proposals, and have apparently been interested in getting this done since the trade deadline.

Blueshirt Banter Filing this under "In Case You Missed It"

This morning at work I came across this...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AhJcYLih_WK.GcHZsGzHTxh7vLYF?slug=ap-capitals-backstrom

This is big news in several ways:

For one, it takes a major RFA off the list for this summer. It also serves big notice to the other GM's of the league with big RFA contracts to be negotiated. If this is at all the significant deal Washington's cap space going into next season allows, this could be a similar deal to Ovechkin's.

Blueshirt Banter Number one center?

I think it's safe to say we haven't had a PROTOTYPE number one center here in NYC in over 5 years, and I don't think we've developed one here since Kelly Kisio. So, I'll offer this question following the jump.

Pinstripe Alley Cano...a home run hitter?

I can safely say I didn't see this power display coming. He's shown that he's a terrific young hitter with amazing fielding ability and hands. But did anyone else see this kind of power coming?

Blueshirt Banter Just a thought...feel free to contribute.

I was thinking that the Rangers have a defenseman, who has played some left wing during his collegiate career--Matt Gilroy. If somehow Glen Sather can move Redden and/or Roszival elsewhere for a perhaps two defensive D-men and install one from the minors, would Sather and then Tortorella consider utilizing his offensive skills on a forward line?
Chew on it and let me hear your thoughts. Perhaps he can be play on the second or third line?
