Shutdown Corner feels for us

Drew Magary of Yahoo! Sports Shutdown Corner shares the pain of Vikings' fans. That pain, is Brad Childress's uninspired visionless coaching.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/You-know-what-would-be-awesome-If-the-Vikings-f;_ylt=AprxcJbdERFc7BxcK40L7AxDubYF?urn=nfl,118878

The scariest thought is watching the Vikings move somewhere else and for Minnesota to be without a team because we can't approve a stadium bill because we can't win games because Brad Childress can't coach. Currently there is little debate that Brad Childress is bad, but if this teams moves, he may easily be the most hated man in Minnesota.

Quinn in purple?

I read this earlier and realized it hasn't really been touched on here so I'm going to go ahead and post it.

According to Charley Walters:

Word is the Vikings offered the Browns their 2009 and 2010 first-round draft picks for quarterback Brady Quinn, but Cleveland, after consideration, said no thanks.

Economically, the deal makes sense for the Vikings in that Quinn, who is under contract for three more years after this season, already has been paid his signing bonus. And the Vikings wouldn't have to spend on the draft picks. With the trading deadline recently passed, the deal could be resurrected after the season. If the Browns won't relent on Quinn, they might deal QB Derek Anderson to Minnesota.

Personally, I have nothing against dealing for Brady Quinn. Derek Anderson is a different story. Quinn makes a lot of sense for the Vikings; however, I don't think we'll deal for him with the current coaching situation. That being said, the deal being resurrected after the season seems entirely plausible.

Favre to MN (Again) . . . A Real Possibility???

The guys over at ProFootballTalk.com have cited a Star Tribune article and have drawn some pretty scary conclusions.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/08/03/packers-talking-trade-with-vikings/

Tarvaris is coming along nicely, it seems. Gus Frerotte is a good back up and a good guy. We aren't going to drop JDB. Brett Favre has no place on our team. The Bears and Lions have said they don't want him. We may be keeping mum because of the tampering charges but do we really need to be the only team in the division that hasn't actively said we don't want Favre. Sure we'll say Tarvaris is our starter. We like him.

I love the Vikings. I want them to win a Super Bowl. I will cheer for them all year regardless. However, I will still see signing Favre as a bad thing, even if he takes us to a Super Bowl, and we win. Had he pulled this a year sooner, yeah I would have been on board, but right now I feel T-jack is poised to lead this team.

Taylor to Redskins for draft picks

As most people should know by now, Jason Taylor, formerly of the Miami Dolphins has been traded to the Washington Redskins for their 2009 second round choice and their 2010 fifth round choice. I just would like to point out that the stories we were hearing about Erasmus James needing a change of scenery were maybe that he just needed a different color bench to sit on. Although he is only 25, it seems that he isn't seen in Washington as much more than he was here, a backup with some potential. Altogether, the Vikes swung a pretty good deal here, anything for a mediocre bench player is great.

Viktor is going to need all the help we can give if he's going to make it the the mascot super bowl. He's made it pretty far without a large help effort. In round 1 he defeated the Saints Gumbo the Dog, and in round 2 he downed the Bears Staley Da Bear, now he is taking on Carolina's Sir Purr. Just click the link and vote. http://www.sportsline.com/spin/story/10868945
