I hope this is an old article but it looks like it was updated earlier today, so yep looks like hes hurt again and in the same fashion as before. The Blues can't catch a break, start breaking out the golf jokes and talks of a good pick next draft, which is expected to be weak in comparison to past seasons.

From Rays manager Joe Maddon, on whether he thought Johnny Damon should waive his no-trade clause and accept a trade to Boston:

"I think he needs to really, really understand what a great community Detroit is. It would be a great place to raise a family, even if he explores some of the suburbs -- for instance, Birmingham. It's a beautiful little enclave over there."

This from the same man who made his players wear hockey jerseys only to don the Bluenote. I like this guy.

The new commercial with David Backes is not terrible. I am simply amazed. Usually any time a camera is on a hockey player who is not in the act of playing hockey it is just terrible. Im glad hes taking his A seriously, obviously hes not fucking around.

UPDATE FROM BRAD: You can just join. I did. We're trying to figure out when to play.

ALSO. If you play Modern Warfare 2 on the xbos, I started a clan tag: SLGT. In retrospect FDET would have been nice too.

St. Louis Game Time So the Blues went after Kovy . . .

Despite the recent losses to our bitter rivals this news is music to my ears.  The Blues have had some free space under the cap to work with for a season or two and the idea that we not only entertained, but pursued a monster trade for Kovy scratches my balls.  Its awesome to know that management is as pissed off with mediocrity as all of us are.  Thank you JD, Larry, and co.  please continue to swing big dicks and land us a top threat, fuck it we only need to win 4 more games than Nashville and everyone below them to make the playoffs, theres a lot of hockey left and space is hard to make up, but we can do that shit, its 4 games.

I will continue to stand behind this team although i have this deep feeling something terrible might happen or we wont make the playoffs. Anyone else have their fancy tickled with the idea of our organizations pursuit

St. Louis Game Time Columbus is our slumpbuster

There is no better way to put it.  Columbus bows down to the Blues and it is a noticeable trend that I will continue to enjoy.  When you beat a divisional opponent, a rivalry begins, and being on the winning end is always sweet.

Another thing about STL vs. CBJ is that the second most fights since the 99' season have been with the Blue Cothing team at 36, second only to the Indian Heads at 37

Hard to believe with those back-to-back games last year with Anaheim that had like 10 fights, that shit was crazy

anyway Management may have seen the schedule with the two best teams in the league, allowing for a great opportunity to see the weaknesses in the team in the most obvious manner, followed by games against LA, which has struggled to score recently, barring a game against Minnesota, and Columbus, who has been worse than the Blues so far this season, as a perfect opportunity to "perform tweaks" and see results with new leadership.  I know this thought is a bit contrived, but nonetheless it seams as if Davis Payne was opted manager at quite a perfect time for it to have happened.  He has gotten almost a complete taste of the Central Division during his short tenure, especially physical games, against the top two teams in the league in CHI and SJ.

Maybe this 2-game winning streak is going to be short-lived, but the dressing room, and the players mentaility are improving as we speak, and we will surely hear more and more about how players are "successfully adjusting to the system", but thats exactly the type of bullshit i feel like hearing.

St. Louis Game Time Blues playoffs chances/Drunk holliday thoughts

During the holidays I usually do my rounds around the room, hugging aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmas, and make my way to the relatives I enjoy speaking to.  This Christmas I got into a conversation about the Blues, with my cousins new boyfriend, who so aptly claims: "The Blues are going to trade David Perron and Fire Andy Murray or I will stop watching them"

Please take the time to re-read the quote above and just take it all in.

At this point I was truly alarmed at the audacity of this smug little bitch, I was about to really cut him the fuck down, I mean I was just boiling over thinking of all of the terrible things I wanted to say to this kid and it hit me.  It hit me real hard.  I don't want this person to be a Blues fan as much as I want Fucking Detroit to win the cup (this kid should find a knife and run into it).  I told him he is just like any other bandwagon douchebag who jumps on the train of the stacked team or the sure bet, and expects greatness, not too far from those repugnant Wings Fans.

Not to worry, the holiday cheer comes after the jump, when I settled down from this fiasco, and took a look and whats been going on in the NHL recently, I explained to him the following.

The Blues are the only team in the NHL with double-digit losses at home. That is pathetic when you think that even the Hurricanes who cant buy an OT loss have a better home record. Sad, Sad day boys, wheres the scotch?"...

Detroit fans are fucking rediculous

Saturday night's 3-1 defeat to the Colorado Avalanche was the tipping point. Again, the Red Wings played well. Again, that amounted to nothing in the standings but another increase in the loss column. Enough was enough for George James Malik of Snapshots:
Stop sounding like Pollyanas. Stop saying how the opposition goaltender was just too good, or you're "getting chances" on your power play, are "looking better," that the "tide is turning"...
Anything you say can and will be used against you by a fan base that expects results, not boundless optimism. You sound like you're patronizing us, and that includes you, coach Mike Babcock.
Shut up. Win. Then tell us that you're going to fulfill the promise your team holds and your fans' expectations that you will win the Central Division instead of squeaking into the playoffs because you cannot or will not accept that you have a winning problem when you lose six of your first nine games and every road game you've played because you blow leads, blow scoring chances, and blow chunks in terms of commitment to the attention to detail and the painful but necessary work involved in clearing your own slot, not giving up the puck through neutral ice, and charging toward the opposition net, putting pucks there, retrieving their rebounds, and jamming them into the net.

St. Louis Game Time Pietrangelo? Strachan? Brewer?

Im not thinking of debating which one should be playing.  The coaching staff obviously feels that Strachan provides a more sound game or chance of winning.  He came up from Peoria and bypassed Pietrangelo, who again for the second season is not enjoying many opportunities to stake a claim on the roster.

More so the long term decisions that are inevitable

The questions surrounding Pietrangelo were supposed to be answered in these first few games, before a discussion would have to be made on his future team, be it in the NHL, AHL, or most likely the OHL.  He has not really been given a chance this year to show a measure of consistency beyond a single game.  There are mistakes made and adjustments throughout a game that are obvious, but playing seldom games means seldom opportunity to show a sound game.

Albeit this could easily be due to the play of Strachan, who has been relatively solid most of the time with a few mistakes but a few terrific plays, he always seems to be in the mix.  But if this is the case why would the team just have Pietrangelo around to *a.)* not play hockey, *b.)* "gain experience".  Why would he not be down in Peoria with Junland who is tearing it up, to see how he would work with a defensive partner he could create and maintain a hint of chemistry with.

Wouldn't it be more beneficial for him to spend this time playing 18-20 minutes a game and running the play?  The AHL is still above the OHL.

I am not sure if he is on a 2-Way contract or not which would explain that but there are decisions to be made soon outlined below.

As stated by Andy Strickland

With the return of Jackman and Brewer where does that obviously leave Pietrangelo? How much confidence is Pietrangelo gaining by never playing and bag skating nearly everyday. Not exactly the best recipe to feel part of the team

There has even been talk about the Blues shopping DJ King around, and if Pietrangelo doesn't live up to expected potential it would be wise to trade him now while his stock is still high.  I don't know how i feel about this but It could make sense, I'm excited there is talk of move because something needs to happen to send a message to this team.

What do you think about it?

Poll
What to do with Pietrangelo What will our defense look after the Deadline Basically should he stay or go - Blues/Juniors or even another team for potential talent or picks for Jarmo?
Pietrangelo should stay, he has a high ceiling and just needs more ice time to prove it
29 votes
Strachan is more solid and Petro would benefit from playing on a minor team, and develop with increased ice time

The Blues should shop Petro around to see what options would be available

St. Louis Game Time Blues Season Preview - 5 Things

According to Wes Goldstein those soppy wet pussies from Chicago and even that team from Ohio finish ahead of the Note.

hurcomb seems to know his shit, he has us second, but with Detoilet still perched on top, idk about all of this

They dont understand, the Blue WILL fuck them up.  But thats fine with me, not even the Cardinals get any media attention, you hear more about how bad Chicago is than how the Cardinals are running away with the division,  so why would'nt this guy, for lack of a better term, "Jew us out" (Goldstein)

He still has us making the playoffs which allows for me not to want to send him my shit in the mail, which i think i might start doing to people i really hate with a peticular passion.  Does anyone know Kevin Bieksa's home address, i want to fill up one of those big boxes with my stockpiled shit, maybe 3 weeks or so worth, maybe throw a dead animal in there too or a picture of someone shooting a Canuck with a speargun. but anyway heres the link

St. Louis Game Time First real Blues news in days

The day I see a commercial insinuating the Blues have all of the on-ice pieces of the respective "puzzle" I find myself mindlessly clicking on the Blues website and come across this shit out of left field.  Why the blues released this thin of a statement this late at night baffles me.  I am not sure about everyone else but I kind of have a slight uncertainty as to his health, Is his back so bad that they decided to fix his knee while he would be out for years, he will be impossible to trade so is a big liability on the payroll, I don't know the exact proceedings if someone has a multiple year injury.  Does anyone see him coming back even after next year? I dont remember any talk of knee problems at any point, maybe so as not to hurt the Blues trade leverage,  Brewer recently said he plans on returning this year? I hope someone in management comes out or some type of statement is made by tomorrow.

First Video: Awesome video, back in the Podein, Walker, Salvador days. Detroit is the sorriest group of cry-baby bitch pussies, complete with the Quenville-Tony Kocur exchange, where somehow Kocur has the audacity to even contemplate much rather say that the Blues are "fucking pussies" I guess he didn't see the open hand fairy bitch-slap around 3:25.

Really Kocur, Forsberg, really man? Look whose bench you are standing on.

And finally, Our goalie will beat your goalies ass

St. Louis Game Time Proving some SYAK

http://www.behindthenet.ca/2008/basic_5_on_5.php?sort=8&mingp=&mintoi=&team=STL&pos=

Silent Jay, Beej, and Steener are our most valuable players in terms of playing the best with the worst on their lines.

Woywitka wasnt as bad as the aesthetics of his play would seem

Pietrangelo needs to be on the roster *now*

Stasty, as much as id love for him to be good, is a career Riverman for sure, or needs to be

Trent Whitfield was better than stasty and we should be embarrassed he was passed up like he was

HAPPY HE got signed

Crombeen is better than Winchester despite his moronic penalties in the playoffs

St. Louis Game Time Hi, My Name is ... Ian Cole

http://nhl.fanhouse.com/2009/02/10/hi-my-name-is-ian-cole/

Not even close to current Blues News

Kind of a cool article on Ian Cole, describes him beyond his numbers, from someone who wrote it a long ass time ago

Months ago

Whatever

With all of the "puck moving defensemen" he should pair up nicely with anyone at all and hold down the fort

Jay Mckee without all of that glass + a more complete game? Or career 3rd pair Weaver-esque?

He could play with Colaiacovo and make up for mistakes, while letting Carlo open up a little

Idk, all speculation and probably not even possible for 2 years

Didn't see it on here so figured I'd throw it up

St. Louis Game Time Analysis/Thoughts - Orientation Camp Game 1: 5-3 Gold team

so yeah I'm watching the game right now, and the gold team is absolutely holding it down

the blue team can do nothing, the only inspired play i have seen so far from the blue team has come from brett sonne

Ian Cole hast done too much, but hasn't messed up either, so i guess if you think about it hes doing quite well

St. Louis Game Time "Insider" Information

This ESPN Insider bullshit and their teases are really starting to get to me.  I dont have a subscription and dont plan on getting one, but if anyone does tell me what the so called "big moves" the blues are making.  if anyone has one on this site you should paraphrase whats on there so you dont catch heat for plaigerism or something.

apparently we are trading for a goalie to someone, i would think maybe anaheim trying to trim some payroll other than that, off the top of my head luongo would be a rfa so thats a possibility, damn greasy bastard, and i cant think of another team that could part with a goalie, maybe pascal leclaire from ottowa if they like elliot enough???

any ideas guys?

St. Louis Game Time Jiri Hudler

If hossa signs with detroit than samuelsson and hudler will be ufa's if im not mistaken.  samuelson can go dissappear with a different team than the wings, he brings almost nothing to the table.  Hudler is a wild-card player and i believe he is held back rather than pushed forward by the wings system.  he would be a top line forward if not powerplay specialist at any other team. so yes or no, would you like to see hudler in the note?

St. Louis Game Time Pronger??? Really?? Am I still sane???

This is a shot in the dark, as we all know how colorful the city of st. louis is . . . . Am i really one of the few and the proud staunchly opposing any type of acquisition what-so-ever that would bring Chris Pronger back to STL, and aside from his presence, the act of suiting up with the Bluenote?  Why anyone had love for him is obvious, but is his stupidity during high-pressure situations along with a lacidasical (not a word i know) tendency to take a lazy cheap-shot rather than work hard for positioning sneak out of all minds but my own.  If Pronger has a blues uniform next year then all faith in my newest role-model JD will be lost.  If anything try to trade for a Ryan Kesler, Ohlund (hurts to say), god no to Salo (swede puss) i mean seriously.  does no one want to see pietrangelo flourish, polak continue dominance, carlo find his game, or any of our prospects to grow some hair??? we were elminated because of a lack of offense, maybe due to poor transitional passing but never-the-less, we have way too deep of a defensive platoon to dabble with a Pronger-type player.  Although a Mattheiu Schnieder on our blueline might be sexier than Beyonce fondling Katie Foxs . . .well you know . . . .

personally i would rather eat dirt than hear prongers name on a play-by-play having to do with any blues attack, defense, or anything else for that matter.  doubt anyone reads this but it needed to be said.  Pronger is worth a 5th round pick an nothing more (for the Blues not for any team in the league) and i would eat my own vomit to keep him from donning the Bluenote.  I hope everyone is doing what they can to survive this off-season i know im barely skidding by.  GO BLUES --> Presidents trophy in 3 years ill bet my girlfriend on it.
