I think it's safe to assume JDR will not be back as head coach next year.

Here's my personal wish list in no particular order.

Bill Cowher - Proven winner. Has a ring. There are no unknowns w/Cowher. We know we'll get a quality product on the field.

Jon Gruden - Genius. Got Tampa over the hump in 02. He'd definitely bring a new level of intensity to the organization.

Rob Ryan - Has a pedigree. Stopped New England's offense this year (CLE 34- NE-14). Could we play a 3-4 w/Knighton @ nose and Alualu an D'Anthony Smith as the ends? He doesn't have the same bluster as brother Rex but he doesn't need it in Jax.

Leslie Frasier - His units are always fundamentally sound. His players seem to like playing for him.

Perry Fewell - Has roots in Jax as he was our secondary coach under Coughlin. He had Buffalo looking pretty good (for Buffalo) last year when he took over for Dick Jauron. The Giants D isn't looking too bad this season either.

Ron Rivera - How has he not gotten a head coaching job yet? His defenses in Chicago and San Diego have consitently been near the top of the league.

Russ Grimm - Same as Rivera, how has he not gotten a head coaching job yet? He's a HOF offensive lineman. He can definitely help our offensive line. I believe he was a candidate for Pittsburgh and Arizona but they hired Tomlin instead and Whisenhunt intead. Not bad coaches to lose out to.

I always think it's fun hypothesizing think it's fun. Anyone else have any thoughts/opinions?

Jaguars DT Tyson Alualu

The Jags first pick, Alualu is a starter at defensive tackle in a 4 front. The official stats credited him with only 1 tackle. I had him for 1 tackle and 1 assist and 2 quarterback pressures. While his stats aren’t great he plays a very consistent game. He is quick off the ball and is very strong at the point. He has the power to hold his ground and occupy blockers. With his hand use he can shed quickly and get to the ball. At this time he is more of a bull rusher than a finesse rusher but he does have good hand use and he never gives up. He goes all out until the whistle blows. Alualu is going to be a good player for years to come. He earns a B+.

Austen Lane – Jacksonville

Lane starts at left end and usually plays only in run down situations. He is tall and long, has a bit of a narrow frame and still has to get a little stronger. He plays hard, you see consistent determination when he is in the game. He will get tall when coming off the ball at times and when this happens he gets neutralized, but when he stays low he can get penetration. With his long arms he shows he can play with leverage and has fairly good hand use. The best thing he does is pursue the ball. There was one play when he ran across the field to catch Darren McFadden.

He doesn’t get a lot of opportunities to rush the passer but when he does he gets off the ball quickly and shows some edge speed. He needs to improve his hand use when pass rushing but because of his play speed, height and length he can still be somewhat effective.

Lane shows good toughness, as he injured his leg in the third quarter but returned 2 series later. Overall, this is a raw player with a lot of upside, he earns a B-.

Terrance Knighton

I found this on the Shutdown Corner on Yahoo sports.

Defensive Tackles: Terrance Knighton(notes), Jacksonville Jaguars

Football Outsiders keeps a stat called "Stops", which tracks successful plays stopped by a defender based on down, distance and opponent. In the NFL through Week 11, there is one player with a total Stop Rate (stops divided by plays in which he is involved) of 100 percent, and it's Terrance Knighton of the Jags. The second-year tackle has four sacks and an interception, but unless you're Ndamukong Suh(notes), stats can be deceiving for defensive tackles, because they're generally soaking up blockers so that other defenders can make plays. But put simply in Knighton's case, he's had 25 total plays in which he's been involved through Week 11, and he's prevented successful first-down yardage (percentage of needed yards on first down, 60 percent of needed yards on second down, and 100 percent of needed yards on third or fourth down) and drive-extending yardage on every single one. Again, no other player in the NFL this season has done so well in this regard.

It's nice to see his hard work and performance are getting recognition outside of Jax.

I can only imagine how sick our interior D-Line will be once we get D'Anthony Smith back and Alualu has a year of experience under his belt.
