Amazin' Avenue Please Explain Willie Harris' Career and How it Has Been Allowed

in less that 100 words. That is my assignment to all of you. I've spent the last 20 minutes or so perusing his baseball reference page. I'm sure he's a great teammate, and I get his outfield defense was really good once upon a time. But isn't there a point where you have to hit if you are an outfielder? His moderately ok walk rate does not justify his longevity as a major leaguer. I'd really like someone to explain it to me, as I watch him get starts at 2b over a guy like Josh Satin, who has just ripped up AA and AAA this year. Please explain how Willie Harris' 2b ability warrants major league starts, especially based on his last 2 years of playing. I look forward to the answers.

McCovey Chronicles How Santiago Casilla ruined my ESPN Streak For the Cash

I will preface this by saying I'm not a Giant fan, nor a Giant hater. Just a Met fan that wishes you well with Voltron. Anyway, ESPN had an interesting wager tonight on their Streak for the Cash Game that I stupidly enjoy playing. The "wager" was which game will end first, Dodgers vs. Phillies or Giants vs. Pirates (if this was mentioned in your game thread tonight I apologize for rehashing). I could not resist taking the Giant game. A sucker bet you say? The always efficient Cliff Lee is pitching for the Phils so, obviously the Dodger game will end first? Perhaps. But,  as I'm sure you Giants fans realize, your games go quickly, because many of your players swing as if blindfolded and set upon a pinata. Plus, you're home and are probably going to win, while the Dodgers are home and are probably going to lose. That's a half inning swing right there, baby. Leverage. And that's how it was playing out, but watch what happened when a human glacier named Casilla entered the damn game and made time stop...

Amazin' Avenue Reyes and Wright Strike Back

Both David Wright and Jose Reyes are somewhat quietly putting together one of the better month's of baseball in their respective careers and I thought it would be a cool idea to check if these franchise cornerstones have ever both been simultaneously this good for an entire month. And it's not just offensively, they have also been outstanding in the field, particularly Reyes who seems to be everywhere, gunning guys down from deep in the hole and up the middle on a nightly basis. As a Mets fan, it's been extremely entertaining. It's one of those things that I don't want to take for granted. Earlier this season, both looked lost at different times, and there was that creeping doubt that maybe we would never see the vintage '06 to '08 versions of Wright and Reyes again. Well for this past month, they are back, and as good as ever. Their slash lines for June as of June 28:

Wright: .385/.436/.631/1.117!

Reyes: .323/.371/.552/.924

Combined OPS: 2.041

Amazin' Avenue GMJR. DFA'd. And then there were none.

Finally!

So to recap, this is the third player to get DFA'd that just about everyone outside of Omar and Jerry knew should be cut before the season even began.
