Saturday Husky Practice
Had a chance to catch the Saturday practice today. It was great to see the tempo, players and new coaching staff style. Most of all it was great to see the crowd. The entry gate told me they had over a thousand people sign-in today! Here are a few general highlights of the day:
1. Nick Holt is high octane...he was extremely hands on and his intensity is "awesome". My favorite moment today was when Holt yelled at one of the student assistant for not moving fast enough to spot the ball...
2. The players are still learning the playbook as there were some minor routing and assignment issues. This is to be expected so it is not a bid deal.
3. Tight Ends were moving and definitely more in mix. Middleton had a lot reps, but is still needs work on his blocking.
4. The running backs coach, whose names escapes me, was very impressive. He was not just coaching, but really teaching right after a play. He also makes his RB's finish out the run even after the whistle and play is dead. This is nothing new per say, but you could really see him teaching how to run to the gaps and keep their heads upfield.
5. There were definitely some high profile recruits. I will not say who, as I am not sure of the rules, but they were at the practice and seemed to be having a good time.
I could go on, but I figure others will say stuff as well...
