DeaconBrodie =
A tavern I've been to several times on Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland within a short stroll of Edinburgh Castle.
Not only did I like the Scottish beer and haggis I had there, I also liked the fascinating history behind the name.
The tavern is named after William Brodie, one of the inspirations for Robert Louis Stevenson’s book: "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". Born in 1741 Brodie was a deacon of the Guild of Wrights. By day, he was a respectable citizen, a member of the town council but by night, he was a womanizer, he consorted with lowlife; gambling and drinking. His dark side meant he had to take to burglary to pay his gambling debts, leading to his hanging in 1788 on gallows some say he designed and built. Rumors swirled long after his apparent demise that he had cheated death and escaped to Paris.

Being of Scottish ancestry I liked the name but I always had an affinity for the life story of William Brodie. I could relate and still can with the dual nature of being human… the struggle within. Ha…so there ya go… my name can go to dark places or simply be a place where you grab a pint.

The New NFL Draft has a new mock out.

And they have Upshaw falling to us. Nice! 20. Tennessee Titans: Courtney Upshaw, DE, Alabama 2012 NFL Mock Draft Defensive End I previously had the Titans taking Cordy Glenn with this 20th pick. However, the Bengals snag Glenn with the 17th overall pick because of his ability to play multiple positions and help in the running game. With this 2012 NFL Draft selection I could see the Titans looking at the available pass rushers here including Whitney Mercilus, Nick Perry, or Andre Branch. However, I think if Upshaw falls to them that he may have to be the selection. He is big enough to play defensive end and he can get after the QB. If he isn’t available I think that Nick Perry would fit into the Titans scheme very well because of his size and athleticism.

Packers Free Agency: C Scott Wells Likely On His Way Out

Would Scott Wells be a viable option for the Titans? Scott Wells has started at center for the Green Bay Packers since the 2005 season, but the 2011 NFL season might have been his last in green and gold. The 31-year old center and the Packers are headed for what seems like a nasty divorce, according to a report by Bob McGinn of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In so many words, Wells is being told by the Green Bay Packers that he has overvalued himself as an undersized, 31-year-old center no matter how well he has played for them. Wells basically is telling the team, "Watch what happens." Wells was originally a seventh-round pick of the Packers and was cut in his first training camp. Wells has battled his way onto the roster and into the starting lineup, making his first Pro Bowl last season.
