Why do we get coaches from losing teams? Head coach from cleveland, o coordinator from st. louis, d coordinator from kansas city, scrubs from jacksonville & buffalo? Do you see a trend? I thought the Lions organization wanted a winning mentality? Lets put coaches from losing teams together & make a winner? Why not get coaches from New England, Pittsburgh, or Green Bay, NY Giants...anywhere that wins? Our coaches don't know about a killer instinct (THEY'VE not experienced a winning culture so how can they bring it here?) Its sad to see new flunkies that come from losing teams and hope a change is near. We will get 7-9 next year and hear about the progress were making and the staff will be around another long grueling year of disappointment

I was under the understanding that the Lions weren't found guilty of tampering? We were given our 7th round draft back? Why is our 5th round pick still at 23rd and not 9th? You might have to dumb it down for me because the two college degrees I have aren't working out! We lost the 6th rounder for S. Hill correct? I know that the Lions fans are the most football saavy in the league so, this shouldn't be a problem...I appreciate the help!!!

The actual term is being "Mayhewed"... I am seeing a great deal of posturing and speculation as well as, fans (including myself) checking every possible web site for the latest and greatest mock draft and who the Lions will pick next. (The one with the worst has us picking a DE first) however, I do believe that for once in our lifetimes we are in a great position.. one which lends credence to what Martin Mayhew has been doing all along... that position being "not desperate". We have never been anything but, desperate...even in the 90's when we were close we were still desperate at draft time. I am beside myself with anticipation as to the next "Mayhewed" victim...(I will be ready to call the special victims unit and not just to see Mariska this time) The needy positions will be clearer way before draft day because the entire staff may be ringing doorbells at midnight FA signing day and Martin will probably trade our first round pick to the Raiders (even though its been given away already that's how good He's been) and get 5 other first - third round picks. So, come draft day we all can relax, drink the budweiser flavored kool-aid and watch our Lions pick a wide receiver and not need a difibrulator. I almost choked to death on the kool-aid this year ~ next year I might need hospitalization on my aflac plan! I hope you Lions fans keep writing those good articles...because after the season I go through the 5 stages of death: 1) Denial 2) anger 3) bargaining 4) depression 5) acceptance in that order. Your posts make it easier to get through #4 and recording the games helps to keep the dream alive in the off season but, makes the wife want to commit me none-the-less.

It took some doing but, our Lions finally swayed some voters after the dominating performance against the Skins... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings also they were not in the top ten most disappointing teams as Dallas & Minnesota stole the show on that. The kool-aid is getting tastier by the minute!!! (SCOTT LINEHAN COULD YOU PLEASE OPEN THE PLAYBOOK) Or at least get more aggressive...? Not the typical Lions run, run, pass, kick of the eighties but, c'mon man. I know they score points but we could actually dominate teams if we tried. Go Lions

It finally dawned on me that Matt Stafford #9 and Daunte Culpepper #11 ~ together make an emergency phone call...It doesn't sound like much but, after the Millen/Marinelli regime someone should have dialed 911 a long time ago. You know we all should have an extra policy on our health insurance for heart conditions caused by the Lions and the Fords and a medical alert bracelet saying we are Lions fans so the emergency workers know not to recessitate us...

I haven't been this excited about the Lions since the 90's and you guys are killing me with a shortage of new fanposts. I resorted to betting with a die hard cowboys fan today out of boredom so let me know what you all think of these wagers.

#1 Lions make the playoffs ~ 50

#2 Cowboys make the playoffs ~ 50

#3 Lions/Cowboys better record ~ 50 + 12-pack

I'm not one who believes in stupid~stitions or blind luck but with all that surrounds this years team following the curse, the 0-16, the Stafford, the years of futility... Man you have to have some real hope for this year and beyond~ its OUR time!!! Go Wings what an exciting game after the Tigers nail-biter.

I have been a Detroit Lions fan for over 32 years(pray for me). I follow the news, the posts, all the activity, the players, other teams for fantasy football, etc. Every year there's a renewed sense of hope after all was lost the year before and my dreams of a Super Bowl appearance are shattered into the abyss.

Waning through the Bobby Layne curse (even though I'm not superstitious), the Millen era, the multitudes of coaches with their hands tied, the missed field goals and horrific officiating and ultimately seeing just about every other team have their winning seasons and glory as I (we)had often hoped to have one day. We were winners in the 50's and I think the cycle is going to head our way soon.

I think that "one day" is now! Something is "different" and there is a unique feel to this group of guys (coaches included). They actually have some real talent ACROSS THE BOARD! I cannot ever remembering saying that. We've had good players, we've had the BEST PLAYER EVER but, we've never had this many good to great players before. Our coaches seem smart and football savvy for a change, the players are not only talented but, hungry too, the front office has a sense of urgency with something to prove...

I was as skeptical as anyone when Mayhew & Lewand took over and now they got me believing again. Ask yourself if you've ever seen this level of play makers on our team ever? Understanding yes that it hasn't equated to the football field yet but, on paper and with all the intangibles like: hunger, mentality, make-up, years of meritocracy, general sense of urgency, blend of talent and some coming from winning backgrounds... we could finally have a real chance here. I don't believe its a stab in the dark, I don't believe Mayhew got lucky, and I don't believe its one and done~ it seems like the culture finally changed and it took 0-16 and a failing Ford Motor Company to do it.

We will have our glory days too ~ I know it!!!

THIS WEEKEND IS LIKE CHRISTMAS FOR ME.... SENT THE FAMILY AWAY AND THE BUDLIGHT IS CHILLIN LIKE I'LL BE

The Lions picked up former Michigan O.G. Matt Lentz as a glorified backup or practise squader from Tampa Bay (why do we get all their throw-aways? However, he is a big guy to take up some space & Michigan is a great program...

I hope the brass can get this draft right this year. Sleepless in Saginaw (I told the wife and kids to be gone on the 25-26 of April) it may be heart-wrenching for us and my alcohol consumption might peak that day to calm the nerves. I still want them to grab the kid from LSU Herman Johnson O.G.

You can't invest millions in someone and have their off field issues plague your team and handcuff some of the teams money and/or quality players... It is Idiotic to think you can bring someone in and over-look his character problems ~ DID I SAY IDIOTIC? Yes, go ask the Detroit Lions (Charles Rogers) go ask the super bowl champion N.Y. Giants (Plaxico Buress) go ask Cleveland Browns (Dante Stallworth) go ask Jacksonville Jags (Reggie Williams) go ask Buffalo Bills (Marshawn Lynch) go ask Chicago Bears (Cedric Benson) go ask Miami Dolphins (Ricky Williams) go ask Atlanta Falcons (Michael Vick) go ask Dallas Cowboys how (Pacman Jones) is doing or Baltimore Ravens and (Ray Lewis)
I could go on and on about how CHARACTER DOES MATTER... Just ask those teams how much money, time, and effort they put in to the players and what they had to endure or lose in the process.

In life, sports, home, work, politics, CHARACTER IS EVERYTHING! You build your team on a solid foundation with character guys and it will be very difficult to destroy it.

Some of you guys sound like clackling old ladies at a nursing home watching soaps!!! The Lions have done fairly well in free agency addressing needs and wants and to my knowledge (THEY HAVEN'T DRAFTED YET!!!) I checked my calendar and it still says the draft is April 25 & 26.

I hear some say draft Raji (known drug user) that won't work out for us.

Rey Maualuga (duh) stupid is as stupid does

Stafford or Sanchez (we haven't drafted yet)

Aaron Curry (is safe good enough?)

Offensive line would be good

I read someone saying the Lions were (GOING TO) draft offensive players only in the first round NOSTRADAMUS WOULD BE PROUD!

Personally... I am a Lions fan true blue and do not want them to move away or listen to what the fans want because the fans don't really know what they want. Its a tough decision they have and hopefully after 50 years they finally get it right.

Its funny when some of you get all worked up a month or two before the draft begins... They aren't going to show their hand until the draft so just relax, drink a cold one, and see what they do (Then blow up)!

Yes we need defense but, it would be nice to have some protection for whoever our QB is... Its got to be hard to throw from your back.

Assuming the Lions can get a veteran QB for Daunte's back-up lol

1) BJ Raji – DT (STOP THE RUN w/ Grady) or should we say clog the line

20) Vontae Davis - CB (This guy is gonna be good plus the Ravens want him... if anyone knows about their Defenses?)

33) James Laurinitis – ILB (Chris Spielman)

65) HERMAN JOHNSON – G (My Favorite Player) this kid is a mean 380 and 6'8"

82) Chase Coffman – TE (yes he will be available)

161) Best & Biggest Available – OT (Build the trenches for years to come)

179) Best Available or a Center - (Dominic Raiola can't do it alone)
