My 2011 Analysis (thus far)
Some of you may recognize my username, some may not. I was a heavy poster back in 2009. We all remember 2009, right? That year we did really awesome and went to the NFC championship to lose out on a tough game that was within reach, but I don't want to open up any old wounds explaining that game in further detail. 2010 - I was more into yahoo fantasy football than posting on DN. I still managed to lurk though to get feedback. And here we are in 2011, not exactly where we had hoped to be.
0-2... No reason to freak out!
Okay... I am sure most of us would look at the season before it even started and not find ourselves being 0-2 after week #2. We knew there was a chance that we may or may not beat the Saints (We just all wanted to start off winning via revenge, no doubt!).... But after we saw our offensive performance in New Orleans, we knew the Dolphins were going to be tougher than we originally expected.

MNF Game thread?
We have two games tonight, but I don't see a game thread on the main page. We have the Jets & Ravens and also the Chargers & Chiefs.
I figured if one doesn't pop up on the main page, discussion can happen here.
I am currently watching the Ravens/Jets game. I really want to see how well the Jets defense performs this year. Also, the Ravens are like my 2nd favorite team. They sport the Purple color and represent the North division. Kind of like the VIkings.....
2 Things............. (FSN: Vikings Gameplan)
First, I would like to say this fan-post will cover two things... I really didn't want to clutter up the fan-post threads with anymore threads than were needed with the season opener game being so close.
So Part 1 & 2 after the jump.
Saints D. Coordinator intends to light up Favre again!!
Okay...... So Gregg Williams wishes to let Favre know before the game even begins that the game is going to get physical and he should expect get pounded hard just like the last game. Apparently, he made this claim prior the NFCCG and also informed P. Manning prior to the Superbowl. Sadly, this take may make him think it works, since he had success in both of those games.
Vikings sign Gerhart to 4 year deal
Vikings sign Gerhart to 4 year deal. Gerhart didn't participate in any of the Mini-Camp or OTAs so he was able to finish up school in standford. Childress stressed that it was very important that Gerhart attend training camp and not miss any camp at all.
Will Favre wish to beat the Pack again just as much as last year?
You know.... With a slow off-season and not much to write when it comes to football, it seems we are going to see a lot of articles about Favre. It is basically just over the same thing over and over, "Will he or won't he?" But, now I am starting to notice different angles by the sportswriters that nearly put a negative image towards the guy.

Favre and his ankle.......
According to those that have been watching Favre throw the good old pigskin arround in Hattisburgh Mississippi, they believe he is doing just fine on his ankle. I have read a couple of articles pertaining to Favre looking like his mobility is there. To all of us Vikings fan, this is great news...
Plaxico Burress....
Is currently reapplying for work release. He is currently in prison for 2 years for a gun charge. This is the second time he has applied for a work release since his first request was denied. It will take several weeks before a decision is made, and being now that he is closer to his release than before, he could potentially have a better shot.
Vick may be released??
According to a person familiar with the way the front office of the Philadelphia Eagles way of thinking, believes that Michael Vick may be released from the Eagles whether or not he is proven to be guilty of anything. Could he have a potential future as a Minnesota Viking?
Madden has a new man-crush
Move over Brett Favre, John Madden has a new man-crush on Tim Tebow. According to Madden, he believes that Tim Tebow is tougher than Chuck Norris...
Randall Cunninghams son drowns in Hot Tub
Christian Cunningham, at the age of 2 was found floating in the hot tub in the backyard of the family's home in Las Vegas. Randall was out of town during the incident in either San Diego or on his way back.
Drew Brees says that Brett Favre will return,
Drew claims that the Saints will be ready, and he fully expects the Vikings team to be a hard team to beat.

Vikings rank #11 in O-line
According to Football Outsiders, the Minnesota Vikings are currently ranked #11 on the list of all 32 teams. Who ranked #1? The New Orleans Saints.... They were in the top ten of both the running & passing game. They are also believe to have great depth.
Longwell wishes to continue doing kick-offs.

Longwell has came out and publicly said he wishes to continue kicking off for the 2010 season.
Longwell is currently in his final season of a 5-year contract. He was also awarded a $500,000 roster bonus the same day he learned of the Vikings interest in Lloyd. Rhys Lloyd was signed back in March to a two year contract worth more than 1.1 million.

Fantasy Football......
This year, will be the first year that I have ever participated with a fantasy league. I know that fantasy football has been around for nearly a decade if not more. Considering that I am sort of a technology/internet savvy type guy, I find it crazy how I have never tried it before. Well, my own reasoning is that I've never been able to keep up with specific stats of every player in a whole league. But as I have grown older & wiser, it's a little easier to keep up. Especially with frequenting this site often.
RB Ian Johnson collides into Childress
During a Team OTA For the Minnesota Vikings, Johnson Collided into Childress.
We all know in the slow off-season any Vikings news is entertaining news (usually good or bad). I figured I would throw something out there that may make a few of you out there laugh. Its a portion of the full article that I posted that involved the Minnesota Vikings. I included the link for anyone who wanted to read the remainder of the article which is not really Minnesota Vikings related except for the section I pasted below.
Maybe one day... A Lambeau Field Superbowl....
As of now, the 2014 Superbowl will take place at the Meadowlands Stadium. A Stadium the houses both the New York Jets and the New York Giants. If 2014 shows to be a success, we may see more cold-weather Superbowls.

Randy Moss, not retiring anytime soon.
Randy Moss fired his agent last week which led to speculation that he would be retiring soon. This is not the case, as Randy Moss will not be hanging up his cleats anytime soon. He will be a free agent after the 2010 season and has still been putting up good numbers.
Griffin & Henderson ahead of schedule
Cedric Griffin & E.J. Henderson are doing better than the Vikings have thought in their own road back to recovery.
More after the jump..
The H.H.H. Metrodome
When the Minnesota Vikings saw the success of the construction of the Detroit Lion's Super-dome (Which present day is no longer used by the Detroit Lion's), the Vikings quickly wanted something better themselves. Over time in the 1970s, the Twin-Cities metro area devised a plan to build a new facility that could house the Vikings & the Twins in a climate controlled venue. With the recent departure of the Minnesota Twins to their new venue located near the current site of the H.H.H. Metro-dome, the Vikings are now pursuing their own new place to call home.

Ideas to raise $money$ for new Stadium
Okay! We are all disappointed that the house & senate of Minnesota are getting no where in the development of a new stadium for the MN Vikings. So I figured if we all could put our heads together, maybe we can come up with a few creative ideas on finding a way to help fund a stadium.

R. Longwell a professional golfer?
What a way to potentially lose Mr. Automatic.
To a completely different sport.
But he is not the only NFL player to make the attempt... So even in a different sport he'll have competition from other NFL players.
Traded Brett Favre to sober him up????

Superbowl 44 - Who will win it?
Just looking to see within the Vikings fan base who everyone thinks will win the game.
Who will you be rooting for?
The Saints because this is their first time to the Superbowl?
Or the Colts because you believe they are the better team and deserve it?
If my memory serves me correctly (please correct me if I am wrong), the last time a #1 seed met a #1 seed in the Superbowl was 1994. Proof that being a #1 seed does not always get you to the big game, but only helps.
What's all your take on this??
Okay, I have never been to a Vikings game in the Metrdome. I only live about 3 1/2 hours from the dome and have family that lives in the Twin Cities Metro area, but I have never experienced a Vikings game in the dome. I have been to the Metrodome for High School playoff games.
But here is my question, I had two friends (Both Girls) that were big fans of the Patriots & Cowboys. They went to the Cowboys game in the lower section. They were 3rd row in the endzone section. They said that they had a bad experience because the fans were obnoxious (i.e., waving a Vikings flag/towel in their face ragging on them) in the Cowboys game. They never hated the Vikings, but, they weren't their favorite team. Now because of that experience, they wished bad karma upon them from here on out. I told them, what were you going to expect?
I listed off that the Media totally favored the Cowboys due to their hot-streak. I also said that your in a divisional playoff game where the loser goes home. I even went to say that they sat 3rd row, where most of the hard-core fans prefer to sit (close to the game).
What I am curious about, is this common across all of the NFL? I am fairly certain it happens in all games, but they argued they went to the Cowboys / Patriots game in Dallas and never had any issues. I argued it wasn't a playoff game and never figured out where they were exactly sitting.
Anyone go to an away game for the Vikings and had a bad experience? Anyone hear of any stories similar? I tried to back the Vikings and their fans, but they were being stubborn. Would love to hear some thoughts on this.
