Opps... Before everyone freaks out, remember Aaron Brooks? Oregon got some flack for awhile but the world didn't end. At least It wasn't quite a Woody Hays moment. By Chris Peterson's reaction, I wouldn't be surprised if that player deserved it. I'd pay a penny to hear what the comment was. Regardless of what he said, nobody wants a game to end like that.

Onto the future though. Its pretty clear Chip Kelly has some things to learn about being a head coach. Seemed pretty obvious he needed to curb the comments about the game like Chris Peterson did. You let that stuff get out of hand and these are the things that happen.

Already had several pretty classy posts by some Boise State fans on the ATQ boards before I even started writing this. In all honesty, I hope it continues. If nothing else, I hope some of our fans learn some humility. There are a lot of great Duck fans out there. There are also some bad apples in every basket. If we have to be a mediocre team to have a higher percentage of better fans, I would take it. If lots of trashy fans are the cost to winning 10+ games a year, I'll pass.

Congratulations Boise State football team. I appreciated the way you played. I appreciated the clean game. I was stoked to see several players giving each other the "good game" pats during the game despite the pre-game attitude. For what its worth (and I realize its almost nothing), I apologize for our running back's behavior and wish you luck for the rest of the season.

Pretty sweet video. I emailed vimeo asking if I could have the password required to view it on thier site. They declined my request but told me it'd probably be up again sometime in the near future.

via media.kval.com

Lots of talk about who should have been named coach of the year for the Pac-10. Before I digest, let me say that I am very happy with where the Ducks ended up. While Oregon didn’t exceed my expectations, 9-3 is great considering some of the adversity the Ducks were able to overcome this year.

However

During the preseason, almost everyone had the Ducks at #3 in the Pac-10 behind ASU and USC. Oregon finished 2nd. Even though 2nd is great, it's only one spot higher than people expected the Ducks to be. Lets not forget that the Pac-10 didn't turn out to be the strongest conference this year either. Both before the season, and after, people are going on about USC and the other 9 schools in the Pac-10. Had the Ducks bested SC, at the coliseum, at night, finished #1 in the conference and gone to the Rose Bowl, by all means, give Bellotti the coaching honors. Does he really deserve it for basically finishing where people thought he would?

I don't like to put too much stress on the Civil war game either. The primary reasons being, we had a bye, OSU played without quizz. I hate to play the "what if" game. My grandmother always said, "If my aunt had balls, she'd have been my uncle". But, if quizz had been healthy, the Ducks would have prepped differently. Maybe quizz brings a couple to the house, takes the emotion away from Oregon and totally changes the landscape of the game.

There have been a couple articles about Bellotti never receiving the Pac-10 coach of the year honors and being overdue. It’s gotten some people upset while at the same time, it’s somewhat of a mixed blessing. Considering that the Ducks have gone to a bowl game 12 of the last 14 seasons, it’d be hard for Bellotti to distinguish himself in a given year. I don't mind Bellotti not being named coach of the year when its for similar reasons to why Pete Carroll wasn't named, rather than reasons why Willingham or Erickson weren't named.

Maybe Bellotti had a chance this year and blew it. Maybe the voters got it wrong. I personally wouldn’t get too fired up about it until Bellotti takes the Ducks to a BCS game and then misses out on coach of the year. Even then I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep on it, would you?

Nick Aliotti

The highly skilled, and devilishly handsome man pictured below is Nick Aliotti.

via cache.gettyimages.com

This man is a believer. A believer in bending and not breaking! After hours of going through tape with many of my colleagues, we noticed something shocking. In the civil war game, the Ducks got away with what some would consider "breaking" plays. In other words, once or twice, the Ducks had single plays that went for more than average yardage.

He could be more than just a believer. He could be a Beaver believer! Beaver fans everywhere should alert the football coaches that Nick Aliotti is a must have for Oregon State. Just imagine the ass-whoping the Ducks would have received with such a dynamic, and good looking, defensive coordinator calling the plays.

You may be asking yourself several questions right now. Why would we want the architect of arguably the worst defense in the Pac-10? Why would we want a defensive coordinator from Oregon that never receives job offers despite the offensive coordinators leaving every 2 years or so for "bigger" or "better" things? Why would we want a coordinator that blames his players? Let me answer ALL of your questions with the following picture.

Look at it! Wow.With looks like that, you can't afford NOT to hire him. Just Do It ;)

It is a lot of fun to: trash talk, make fun of people/football teams, rub salt in wounds (not literally), take revenge ect...

However, lets be classy and give our rivals a little break. I wouldn't do it with hopes they'll return the favor but consider this; in terms of rivals, I'm glad we've got the Beavers. They are tough competition and I'm proud of what they've accomplished this year. Every other school in the Pac-10 suffered a defeat by either Oregon or Oregon state. That's a lot more than can be said by those in states like Washington or Arizona, states many would argue should have superior football programs due to population ect...

An intense rivialry usually occurs between two good teams. I'm not aruging whether or not UW is a bigger rival than OSU but I am saying I heard zero trash talk from Washington this year (and that was before they knew how bad they were and still had Locker).

So Ducks, send a compliment to the Beavers because they are legit. A loss by USC this weekend, however unlikely, would split the conference championship 3 ways. It doesn't suprise me that the Trojans Beavers and Ducks are at the top of the Pac-10. Even though I'd be even happier if the Ducks had won outright, the next best thing would have been for the Beavers to take it over SC.
