Damon Makes His Case for HOF
Not making much of a case on the field, yet. But if he could somehow manage to help this team win a WS, I'd make the case.
"[I]n light of the aggressive promotion of Chisenhall, I honestly can’t see why Kipnis isn’t up already."
Fangraphs wonders why we're sticking with Grandpa when we're contending.
Asdrubal Cabrera and Chris Perez named to AL All-Star Team
This is the first All-Star appearance for both players.
Neyer on Hoynsie on Omar
A lot like shooting fish in a barrel, I know.
[F]or an organization frequently forced to trade away their pricier stars, looking to the future and delaying Santana's service time clock is the right move.
From MLB Trade Rumors
"It can be a big deal,"...
Don't know if people saw this Times article about this new tracking system, including a comment from Shap. Also, this, from the developer's CEO: "Bowman said he preferred the data be more open so that statistically minded fans and academics could brainstorm ways to wring useful information from what would become petabytes of raw data."
Ted Uhlaender Dead
I know this name doesn't mean much to many of you, but I remember Uhlaender as a starting OF on the Tribe when I first moved to Cleveland and started going to games as a kid. I didn't even realized he lived out here.
"The Indians may be the biggest recipients of random bad luck over the last four seasons."

Auction for Half a Day With Shapiro
Who's up for contributing to a pool to buy this for Jay and Ryan?
"The Indians will cut ties with a player Friday to make room for Joe Borowski. It won't be Michael Aubrey, and it won't be Andy Marte. It will be seldom-used lefty reliever Craig Breslow, who made just seven appearances and went 0-0 with a 3.24 ERA in 8 1/3 innings of work."
Where Does The 2007 Season Rank?
In the spirit of some of the recent posts to the Endgame Thread, I'd like to get us going on a discussion about where this season ranks among the all-time great Indians' seasons, even if we did fall short (which we have in all but two, after all). The first five, I think, are obvious (unless someone wants to argue that we could actually have a better year, using some criteria other than post-seasons success, in a year when we don't reach the Series.
- 1948 (WS win)
- 1920 (WS win)
- 1954 (WS loss, 111 rs wins)
- 1997 (WS loss in 7, you know the story)
- 1995 (WS loss in 6)
The Long Run
Hello LGTers,
This is my first post, though I've been a lurker for most of this season. Also, believe me, when I selected this user name, I had no idea the irony it would lead to by this time in October. People here ask who I'm going to root for if Cleveland gets to the WS, and I look at them like they're crazy. I have been a Tribe fan since 1971 though I moved away in '82.
I am cautiously optimistic about Game 6. What are the chances that we go 0 for 4 on solid starts from our 2 aces (in fact, CC would've had a quality start had Wedge pulled him after 6 last night)? The main reason for my post, though, is to link this Tom Boswell column praising the Tribe's organization, and to remind everyone that we are in this for the long haul. Manny is confident that if the Sox lose, there will always be next year. But we should be, too. This team and organization are built to be good for many years to come with great scouting, a solid farm system, and overall great general office management. All for a bargain payroll.
