Avs reportedly offered Kovalchuk, not Wolski
My take - Good. While I thought that paying him $100m over 10 years was stupid, if we can get him for something near what he signed for in New Jersey, we'd be fools not to do that. The New Jersey contract he signed would have seen him making less than Paul Stastny. I love Stastny, but he's no Kovalchuk.
I'm pro-Kovy at anything less than $7m a year, and at this point, I might even be pro-Kovy at $100m/10yrs given where we are in relation to the cap. And if we decide to move him a couple years from now, he'll net us a bunch of assets without a doubt. Moot point though - I imagine he'll sign in Philly, LA or NJ.
Edit - It has been confirmed to me that the Avs did not sign Wolski to an offer sheet, despite widespread no speculation that they would.
DetAvs' 2010 Mock Draft
I've never done one of these before, so I thought I'd do it just for fun. Some of it is based on things I've heard from reliable sources, some is based on draft tendencies, and some of it just educated guessing.
