I was watching ESPN First Take this morning and this is one of the few times I actually agree with Skip Bayless... He was saying how Justin Blackmon is overrated. Not in the sense that he will be a bust but that he doesn't warrant a top 5 selection. He will be a good receiver but he's no Larry Fitz, Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Julio Jones, or even Dez Bryant. If anything my favorite receivers in this draft would be Floyd and HIll. What ya'll think?
Ryan Clark says "no one" wants to join the Dolphins
I wonder how many players around the league feel like this. Jim Harbaugh, Jeff Fischer, the list goes on and on of people who potentially seemed like fits for the Dolphins but ended up going elsewhere. And its clear he must be talking about Ireland. Whether or not you want or like Ryan Clark the player is irrelevant.
I Don't See the Resemblance
Before we traded for Marshall everyone was complaining for a #1 receiver (including me) but now all of sudden when we trade him most people act as if we didn't need him anyway because we are running the of the WCO. Well an offense alone doesn't hide the deficiencies in a receiving core (In college yes, in the NFL no) At the end of the day no matter what offense you run you need playmakers. And since Green Bay's offense is commonly used when making comparisons I will use their offense as the blueprint. Because people seem to forget that Green bay has some talented weapons.

Peyton Manning goes out of his way to tell the Dolphins he is not signing with them, does that not worry anyone? So we couldn't get Manning and now they're going after the lesser option.
Joe Philbin should have the best knowledge on Flynn. He's watched him in practice, meetings, and his overall professional life. If they were sold on Flynn from the beginning then they would've went after him out the gate.
This is becoming a trend in the off-season. Last year we tried to get Jim Harbaugh and he didn't want to come here so we settle by signing Sparano to an extension which ended up being meaningless. We aren't getting Peyton so now were trying to settle for Flynn, and hell there's no guarantee that Flynn even wants to come to MIami.

Random Ish
As much as you want to try and make sense of what has been going on its really hard to. Even if we were to get Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn.. who are they throwing to? When you look at free agency, there aren't many answers left. Instead of getting better in the offseason it seems like things are falling apart. What is wrong with the Dolphins!
Drop Rate 2011: Which receivers are dropping the ball?
Golden Tate led the league with 0 drops and Dez Bryant was 2nd with 1 drop.
In the bottom 20 Brian Hartline and Brandon Marshall made the list.
I still don't understand how Davone Bess returned punts over him...
Not bad for a bust

Im a Dolphin fan but I catch most of the Cowboy games especially the primetime ones. Ive made some observations and Id like to see if true Cowboys fans see this too.

Our secondary better tighten up on Thanksgiving lol
On if Dez Bryant is a distraction:
I’ve heard nothing but good things. He’s somewhat of a wild stallion to where you’re going to get certain elements of that, and it’s his personality and it’s kind of what’s made him such a dominant player and why he’s so good on the field. I don’t know that I’ve seen a wide receiver take the number of hits that this guy takes. He never goes down easy, and because of that, he’s just getting hit so much more than what he really needs to, but that’s just because of his competitiveness and his desire to score on each and every play. He never thinks he’s not going to go the distance.
And so when you are that type of personality, you want the ball. And I can see where he gets frustrated when he’s not getting the ball, and that’s not unlike a lot of wide receivers. It’s a hard position for these guys that are so competitive, as we know. There are often times comparisons between him and Michael Irvin. I think some of those comparisons are fair in the fact that they do want the ball on every play. Michael used to say to me, "Troy, I don’t care if there’s three guys on me, just throw it up." And I said, "Mike, I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to throw it to you if there’s three guys on you because that means somebody else doesn’t have anyone on them." But he said, "Hey, I won’t let you down." And I think Dez Bryant is that same type of player, and if it becomes a distraction, then you’ve got to deal with that. But I don’t know that it’s become a distraction, I don’t believe that it has been. I think everyone understands what this guy’s about, and they knew that right from the beginning.

How could you not get this guy the ball in the 2nd half?
Brandon Marshall is the Dolphins highest rated WR, but he's dropped to 30th in the NFL on PFF's rating.
Brian Hartline is the 50th rated receiver in the NFL. He's dropped 3 passes this season, and 3 passes thrown at him have been intercepted.
Davone Bess is the 99th rated receiver in the NFL according to ProFootballFocus. Last season he finished 15th. That's disturbing!
That Wraps it Up
One thing I learned from last years draft is that the Dolphins FO doesn't surprise me anymore. But overall this was a solid draft with pretty solid (safe) picks. My favorite pick of them all was Edmond Gates because now the fastest player on the team isn't a safety.

"I think they need a vertical threat," Mayock told Rose. "I think they’ve got to find a playmaker somewhere. They don’t have anybody that can make a play. They’ve got to drive 80 yards in 15 plays too often. They’ve got to find a guy in the third round that’s a change-of- pace running back or a flip-the-lid-off-a-zone vertical wide receiver.
Lol julio jones ran a 4.3??? He was no where near that speed when we beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl!!! @McCain21@RJStanford25
I'd watch your mouth Sean chances are he'll end up showing you that 4.3 first hand when he gets into the league.
Pretty sick punt return TD by Ted Ginn tonight. One of those dynamic players Dan Henning probably wishes he had #ohwait
#Lions LB DeAndre Levy on his game-winning interceptoin: "I saw (Henne) eyeing me the whole time, and got underneath to catch the ball"
"There's no question about it," he said. "We need speed, and we need it in the areas where when you play something loose, and somebody's got a chance, he can take it to the house."
Top 10: Chad Henne excuses of 2010
Like the Dolphins playoff hopes, the year is coming to an end. So it's only appropriate that I countdown some of the best Chad Henne excuses of 2010.

Real Talk with Deuce
Wow who would've thought the Buffalo Bills would have QB stability before the Dolphins? Or even worse, who would've thought their offense would be more productive than ours this season? Anyway here are some topics for thought.

Ginn levels Scifres on punt return
lmao there's a first time for everything
It is what it is
I'm a Dolphin fan but I also live in reality, and the reality is that this was never a playoff caliber team. If you thought this team was Super Bowl bound after these last few games, then your delusional. I think a win today would've continued to give fans false hope.
My Thoughts
Great game by Chad Henne yesterday, but this one game doesn't all of sudden make him a franchise QB. Right now everyone is riding the Chad Henne bandwagon, so most of you are probably not going to agree with this (even though I'm sure most of you will hop off as soon as he throws his next INT). There is more to being a franchise QB than just stats. There's things like consistency, leadership, etc. You can just tell when someone either has it or they don't. I'm not saying he can't be a good QB in the league, but to think that he will eventually develop into a franchise QB is not even a guarantee.
The Jets and the Patriots are not perfect by any means but their winning games. Any weaknesses the do have are covered up and the use their strengths to the fullest. To Henne's credit his best strength is his arm, but this team can't use that to their advantage until they get a legit deep threat. We should be seeing plays like this more often with his arm and a guy like Marshall drawing a safety...

History in the Making
Dez Bryant was a top 5 talent that slipped into the late first round because of some pre-draft nonsense and now all the critics are looking real stupid. You guys got a steal by drafting him and everyone else can see it's paying off now. The Cowboys struggled a lot in the beginning of the year, but if there is one thing that stayed consistent it was Dez Bryant... I already know he's gonna put on a show on Thanksgiving tomorrow, but as good as he's been playing right now, I still can't believe he's only a rookie smh... Enjoy

Need for Speed
"For me personally, there’s two or three guys on me on every play," he said. "I’ve never seen so much coverage. … In the past, it’s been situations, whether it’s third down or second and long, where I’ve seen double coverage. This year it’s every single play. … When you say big plays, they may not be coming from me right now." -Brandon Marshall
In his last 2 years in Denver Marshall had Eddie Royal lining up as his #2. As a rookie Royal put up 91 receptions for 908 yards and 5 TDs, so defenses couldn't just focus on Marshall. That would explain why he hasn't seen this much coverage go his way. Now let's do some math, If there are 3 guys on Brandon Marshall then that means it's 10 against 8 everywhere else. So the question is why am I not seeing big plays made elsewhere?
Here are some examples on how other players benefit when their #1s are attracting so much attention
- Miles Austin has only has 2TDs so far this season but his #2 Roy Williams compensates with 5TDs
- Chad Ochocinco 2TDs/ Terrell Owens 7TDs
- Steve Smith (NY) 2TDs/ Hakeem Nicks 9TDs
- Reggie Wayne 3TDs/ Austin Collie 6TDs
- Brandon Marshall 1TD/ Brian Hartine 1TD...
As you can see Marshall is taking up all the double teams, but no one else is taking advantage when it comes to scoring points. Marshall makes most of his big plays of YAC, but if he doesn't have any space to do so then he won't be as effective as he's been in Denver. Neither Hartline or Bess are the type of receivers that would create room for Marshall, if anything they are more underneath guys also. It's clear that this offense doesn't have speed or explosive talent outside of Marshall.
