Devils' World Won't End if Kovy Bypasses Newark
A short, "what if", write up by Stan Fischler about if Kovy doesn't re-sign with the Devils. Might help those of you who feel upset that it still hasn't happened yet.
Advice (your thoughts) on a Clarkson jersey
OK, so one of my favorite Devils is David Clarkson. To me he is an all around player. Well, maybe not all-around because that sounds like he is skills-based. Maybe he's more of an "everything" player. He doesn't have great skills, (not yet) but he's got good enough skills. He's not a giant, but he's not small. He plays offense, defense, fights, and can spark the Devils at any time. He's certainly not a goon, but is definitely a warrior.
A few months back I posted asking for info on where to buy Devils jerseys (and thank you for your help—my friend bought from one of the sites you suggested). At the time I couldn't afford $170 for one of those jerseys with name sewn on, so I ended up buying an Elias jersey from someone on Craigslist for $40. Yeah it's a knock-off, but to me it's great and it's actually a decent quality knock off. (the guy emails me from time to time and still sells on Craigs and ebay, but only Elias jerseys in size 52XL- if interested I can give you his email or direct you to the sites he's selling on) ... But since buying that jersey I have been saving a few bucks here and there to some day get the real thing and guess who's jersey I would like. Clarkie of course.
My only hesitation is that if I buy a Clarkson jersey, I would hate for him to not re-sign with the Devils. According to capgeek, for 2010/2011 Clarkie will be a restricted free agent (RFA).

I don't see the Devils passing on him or using him in a trade, but you never know what Lou's master plan can be. Should I jump in now and get the jersey (or rather once I've scraped up the cash) or should I wait for him to be re-signed in the off-season? (yeah I know, a whole post dedicated to one of our third liners, but I think he is worthy of this post)
KHL hopes to add Kovalchuk
As per ESPN. KHL will apparently go after Kovy once his contract is up. I am not surprised to hear this as they have been trying to bring NHL players to their leauge for the past few years now. One thing the KHL will not be able to offer him... a chance to win the Stanley Cup.
Is Lou Done Adding Pieces to this Team?
So we picked up Kovy, and I'm psyched as hell now. (will be even more psyched if he turns into more than a rental but we'll see what happens in July with that)
For now though, do we still need to pick up a stud-D-man? Average D-man? Or are we fine with defense as is, since Martin will hopefully return after the Olympic break?
I kind of would hate to give up more prospects or star players (like Clarkson) for a rental. I think our D still has one problem in Mottau—can't say that makes me comfortable for a deep playoff run. Not sure going after the original Nieder is necessary, but getting someone a little more reliable than Mottau I think would be a good final move to complete this team.
(appologies in advance, as I'm not that familiar with NHL rosters so I don't have an "average D man" to suggest to replace Motts)
Trade rumors for Koivu or Modano
According to an Everson article of the NY Post, his "Devils sources" are telling him Lou is looking for an additional center even with players returning from injury. He names Saku Koivu and Mike Modano as two possibilities. If this is true, you gotta love how Lou picks'em young.
Wild's Sykora on Waivers
Another end to a former Devil and cup champion (at least until someone else claims him or he goes to play in the Euro leagues). Do I want him on the Devils? Not sure. Probably not, but I am wondering how others may feel. He might be an injury risk and not sure we even have a place for him. I'm also not sure how he played in the playoffs with the Pens last season. Wow, can I bring any less to this post?
John, as always, if this is a repeat post or in the wrong section or just shouldn't be in ILWT, delete away.
Good Bars to Watch a Devils Game at? Fan Essentials Section?
I tried searching this site, but couldn't find a post for it. If it is out there, then I apologize for this post and won't be offended if this gets deleted.
BUT, I was wondering if any/all the members here know of good Devils-friendly bars that one could go and see a game at. (and not just when they play the rangers, flyers or islanders). There's more to this post, please read on before clicking away.
-Maybe we can get a list going that people can reference and will include whether the bar is north, central or south Jersey.
-Maybe this can lead to something like a "fan essentials" section (insert better name here) where it will have info that you won't typically find on the Devils official site. Examples: Devil-friendly bar locations, where to get jersies (post already on here), groups looking to take a road trip to away games, list of Devils game chants, etc.
I'm partly writing this after reading John's post about attendance and how he thinks ( and I agree ) that this site helps generate Devils buzz (pun intended). The other reason I posted is because I feel like going out with my buddy for a few drinks to watch the Devils/Avs game this Saturday. (NFL playoffs though so I might be stuck at home) I think a list of Devils bars (and possibly other information) could help fellow fans get together and not sit in solitude at home. Got a friend who doesn't follow hockey? Bring'em to the bar with you. I brought one of my best friends, who knew of hockey but didn't follow, to a Devils game (actually the 07 Home Opener). He now LOVES LOVES LOVES the Devils (and HATES the rangers). So DEFINITELY, bring your friend along whether it's to a bar or if an extra ticket, to a game. People don't understand how exciting a hockey game is until they see a game. Throw in a few beers in a good bar, I'll be a drunk before the playoffs.
Cheers ALL. Go Devils.
Questions about Devils Hockey Jerseys
I hope this is where i am to post this. I am in the market for a Devils jersey but I want an authentic one if possible. (if possible? that means if I can find an authentic one at an affordable price, not the $300 that I have seen some go for)
On hockeymonkey.com I found a "NJ Devils RBK Edge Premier Hockey Jersey" (no player or number) for $90.
Has anyone purchased these kind before? Are they close enough to the real thing?
Lastly, can anyone suggest where I can have the actual letters and number sewn on? Some places do a heat press, but I want the sewn in version. Or if anyone has a better site that they have purchased from please share.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.
[Editor's Note: I decided to "generalize" the title so others can use this FanPost to ask questions about jerseys and such. Anything from where to get a jersey (like this initial question) or how to care for one or even to ask for suggestions on what to put on a customized jersey. Help him out by all means, but by all means don't use this as a forum for your business or promote illegal methods.]
