Least Favourite Off-season move

Okay, following the fan post your favourite move or non-move of the off-season I thought well what about your least favourite move by the team as this is always something thats likely to get a debate started.

Plus there is the option of following this up at key milestones in the season to see how opinions change.

Topics to pick from:

Players cut who may come back to haunt us and we all know about that, i.e. Vonnie Holiday (mainly cut due to money), John Beck (personally I think this was a mistake, but we'll see);

Players that we allowed to leave, i.e Andre Goodman or Renaldo Hill, both good players in their prime but both fulfilling key roles;

Players that have been bought in via free agency or trades i.e. Grove, Burger, Daniels;

Positions not strengthened through the draft, i.e Defensive Tackle;

Positions over recruited in the draft where we could have picked up one player and then someone else for the second player i.e. Corner, Wide Receiver;

Realistic Free Agent Acquisitions, this is a tough one what do you class as realistic? Well for the purposes of this I would say players that wouldn't have killed the salary cap;

Somebody signed to a multi-year expensive contract, you don't think deserves it, can't think of any example of the top of my head;

Players not already signed to multi-year contracts and so coming into contract years, i.e. Ronnie Brown

And any other player based changes that have occured or not occured during the off-season that you didn't like.

The easiest way to do this for people to but the move they didn't like in the topic of their comments and then if people can comment below, so its easier to scroll down and look at what the thoughts are. (I was going to try a ballot, but there were too many options, but if a top 10 comes out then I'll try that as a follow up.)

Thank you for comments (in anticipation of your participation)

Why we might not draft WR & OLB in the first day

WR

This is the simple decision, the off season has been about how we need a legitimate no 1 receiver and some people think we'll get it through the draft. The main problem with this logic is that towards the beginning of the off season the consensus was that we needed to trade for a leader of the WR corps somebody who has been there done that and can help the very young WR we already have. Drafting a WR won't fill that need, we have four good young WR's in Camarillo, Bess, Ginn & London. 2 are coming into that magical third season and the other two are coming into the second season. The only real need we have that usurps other requirements is the need for a veteran to be the older wiser and stable influence on the others. I think that Parcells will do what he did last year and look at late round picks or Free Agents after the draft.

OLB, unless we pick up a DE/OLB to fit into the rotation, we have already picked up two very good prospects in the off season with Cameron Wake and Eric Walden. Plus we already have Charlie Anderson, Quentin Moses and Matt Roth who have already had one season learning the defensive scheme. So I think this is an area that we already have covered.

Personnally I think we'll pick up a DB or MLB, unless someone absolutely stellar drops and if there is nobody of the right value in one of those positions, expect us to trade down to pick up more drafts later. Or I think that this is one year that we might see us trade up to pick up one of those propsects.

So what do you think, am I talking rubbish from the other side of the pond, or do I have a point?

Patience for young QB

Now like or don't like Dave Hyde of the Sun Sentinel, but in the following article he puts forward an interesting viewpoint.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/columnists/sfl-flsphyde02sbsep02,0,3976309.column

He compares Henne's and Beck's numbers from their pre-season outings in their rookie years.

QB rating: Henne 70.3, Beck 71.5.

Thrown Touchdowns: Henne 1, Beck 2

Interceptions: Henne 2, Beck 2.

Yards per attempt: Henne 5.57, Beck 6.25.

Now I don't know about you, but those numbers look very similar, although it doesn't take into account playing timing, which I think Henne has had more of this pre-season than Beck had last pre-season but I don't know.

The main point is that this pre-season does not show that Henne is automatically the future of the franchise as he has not done more than what Beck did last year and now everybody is writing him off.

Henne needs to be well managed and guided through his rookie year and as such the Miami faithful need to show some patience and not rush him out onto the pitch.

Any thoughts opinions, agree, disagree.

Steve McKinney gets cut

Okay everybody is reporting that Steve McKinney has just got cut and after last weeks practice who can blame them. Under no real pressure he fumbled several snaps which is not good, especially when the QB's have had enough trouble keeping hold of it!

So as we've all known Satele is good for the future but what happens if he gets injured wheres the cover and if Smiley is the answer then who covers guard?

Would link to the story but the Dolphins front page is so useless that I can't find anything apart from tickets and Cheerleaders (not knocking the Cheerleaders thing though!).

Beck trade and who should replace him?

As part of Omar Kellys Q&A Blog today, he suggested that Beck will be traded prior to the start of the season and replaced by someone picked up off the waiver wire. The main reason is that as far as Omar and a few other people think that the scheme that is being run in Miami does not suit Beck and he would be happier in a West Coast Offence.

As a Beck fan I hope this won't happen as it would be a bit premature and I think that Beck has shown he has the skills to do the job, but just needs a bit of work on his confidence.

I would like to know your opinions on three points?

(A) Who do you think Beck would be traded to? (Right offensive scheme & a need for a QB)

(B) How much do you think Miami will get for him, given that he was a 2nd round pick last year and it wasn't considered a reach then?

(C) Who do think will replace him? (A genuine contender, a young talent, or another journeyman in case McGowen is terrible)

Your thoughts please
