Final Straw

I was discussing that Manning was meeting with Elway tonight with my wife.

Until the news of the visit I was reluctant to inform her that we were in the running for getting Manning. I didn't want to break the news to her that she was mistaken and Tebow was not as good at QB last year as she thought. First thing she said was, "We already have a QB." I told her that evidently Elway and company don't think we do. She said, "Manning will be 2nd string, right?" I laughed and said, "no, hun". Then I informed her that word is we will trade Tebow if Peyton comes. Then she cried. I hugged her and said that we most likely won't get him. He won't want to play in Denver. She smiled and said , "Well if Tebow goes, I'm done watching football." I know this is not true because she loves it about as much as I do. However, I do think that she will stop loving the Broncos. See she took Shanny getting fired, Cutler leaving, Marshall leaving, McD coming in and getting fired way worse than me. She pretty much stopped caring about them. She would watch with me sometimes halfheartedly, but lost track of players names and her love for the team. Then we hired Elway. She started coming back around to them again. Cussing at Orton with me. Yelling for Tebow. Finally the day came. We danced as Tebow was coming in the game. He almost came back to beat SD. We lost, but exciting as hell. You know the miracles that followed(and the drubbing from Det). There were some losses, but it was fun and the fact that we had a QB just like John in the sense that we would never give up on a game until the final second ticked off was exhilarating. By the time DT was running for our first playoff win in forever, we were holding hands dancing in circles the whole time he was running...and then some. Sure we lost to my son's favorite, NE, the next week, but what a year. Now I have to tell her that her favorite QB and Bronco doesn't like her new favorite Bronco. He wants to kick him to the curb, maybe even throw him out. Not good. I think she may be done with them if this happens. Follow the Tebow train wherever it takes her. I don't know, maybe I'll ride along. Getting kind of old to be jumping on and off trains anyway. We'll see.

Mile High Report Mock and a Poll Ain't Noise Pollution

Hello again MHR. I would like to say GBTT(you figure it out). Trade Tim Tebow for RG3? Why? Tim is the Broncos. If you don't like it, lump it. Jumpin'

Mile High Report Kids In A Candy Store

More and more I see mocks and FA signings that are over the top. People there is a limit on how much turnover we will actually have this year. It's not like everybody on the roster needs to go. We do have a few good players.

Many times when I do a mock I refer to the Broncos as my team. I put my feelings down of how to improve my team. I'm not actually naive enough to think what I say matters one iota to the actual people that get to make the real decisions. I just think it's fun to guess on what to change for next year. I like it when we try talk out certain choices the front office has to make. I like to learn from you guys in the comments about what you think. I really like it when we turn out to be right on something. That said, here is another one to cypher through.

Jump.

Mile High Report First Order of Business

O.K. the end of the season has set in for most of us and we are moving on to "fix" the Denver Broncos. We all have different views on how and at what positions this should be executed. Most of us agree on the main areas that need work though. Some teams want to call this a reloading period, we are not so lucky. We are still rebuilding. The difference IMO is, reloading would be to draft the best player available and let him learn behind your starter, rebuilding you need to still find that starter or someone you expect to get significent playing time. Therefore, it becomes more of a best player available at a position of need. Most teams are in this boat. My view is, if we are weak at a position that we are getting old at, CBs, we draft there. If we are weak at a position where we have youth as backups, S and TE, we get a FA there.
