Royals Review Big Ups to My Subconscious

 

We all have inner voices, both loud and passive.  The number of those voices depends on the person and the amount that person is willing to admit.  Without going into detail, I would like to thank one of my inner voices.  If I had to classify, I would call this my inner subconscious, on the self-destructive and self-hatred side of the family.

Royals Review I can't wait until opening day for 5 reasons (plus one and some rambling).

Five:

 

Opening Day itself…..I’ve been to opening day 9 years in a row (or ten, or eight, really can’t remember) and I know many more here have been to many more.  I left early for the Mendy Lopez shot (8th inning…went to blue river 9 hole golf course all wasted and heard the conclusion of the game on the radio....ten people from work saw me stroll right on out of the stadium like a Chauncey ass fan…..never lived that one down) and missed it, I have froze my ass off on multiple occasions, and remember a bunch of drinking in a variety of locations..  Plus…..3pm start time only helps.  Seeing the crowd, 38,000 strong (or 36,322, or whatever it is these days), playoff atmosphere, not a buck night……Mmmmm, good.

Royals Review Is Steroid Use in Major League Baseball a Measurable Variable Yet?

The recent Hall of Fame voting got me thinking, which doesn’t often happen….is there a way to adjust statistics obtained by known steroid users by controlling for the variable of steroid use?  I am fully aware that there is no such thing as an original idea, much less one like this that comes from me, but this isn’t exactly me trying to be the Einstein to the sabermetric Poincare (or is it the other way around?).  Anyways, this is just intended to be the start of a discussion about the statistical possibilities, and hopefully garner the opinions of the folks that are actually qualified to speak somewhat authoritatively about the matter.
