The death of the 22-year-old Box two months ago was ruled accidental. In the report, the agency said the combination of drugs likely caused pulmonary edema, or fluid in the lungs, and aspiration pneumonia, which is an inflammation of the lungs caused by inhaling foreign substances.

An autopsy found the painkillers oxymorphone, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone and oxycodone in Box's system, along with the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam.

Former Missouri captain Derrick Washington has been arrested again.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department says Washington, who played tailback for the Tigers before he was suspended from the team, was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor. Washington posted $1,000 bond.

A message was left seeking comment from Washington's lawyer, Bogdon Susan.

The 21-year-old Washington was charged in August with sexually assaulting a former tutor. He was permanently suspended from the Missouri team about a week before those formal charges were filed.

Washington's arrest on Sunday was first reported by The Kansas City Star.

A third-place finish in the BCS standings wasn't enough to send undefeated Cincinnati to the national championship game, but the Big East still will get a piece of the action in Pasadena, Calif.

Instead of sending a team to the BCS championship game, the league will send its top officials there to work the game.

My biggest concern is will they call holding?  I've heard stats like Alabama hasn't been called for holding since October 17th or something (that's 6 straight games, 400 offensive snaps)...   is the Alabama O-Line that statistically perfect and technically sound that they never hold?  They've given up only 15 sacks on the year.

If some Alabama fans could shed some light on this, I'm sure it's been discussed before elsewhere.   Does the SEC in general not call many holding penalties?  Is the Bama line just that good and disciplined?  Is there another explanation?  Whats your take on the BE refs?  Etc. etc.

edit : and on further research some people are saying that the holding call in the South Carolina game (Oct. 17th) was on a special teams play and that they haven't actually had a holding call since Kentucky (Oct. 3rd).   something like 500+ offensive snaps.

It appears that either the USA Today Coaches poll members must re-vote in order to recalculate the final BCS standings, OR The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, Inc. should move up the University Cincinnati’s football team to play the University of Texas football team in the BCS Championship game.

“The AFCA prohibits coaches from voting for schools on major NCAA probation.”

The Sooners nabbed their second defensive tackle commitment for the class of 2010 on Thursday night when San Antonio East Central defensive tackle Torrea Peterson announced his commitment to OU over a plethora of other high profile offers.

 This was our lowest ranked offered prospect...  many thought he'd suck up a scholarship that could go to a better player when our scholarships were tighter (ie before the two decommits).  This saves Texas a bit and now we only have offers out to high quality players.   Who are they all again?

The annual Orange-White scrimmage officially ended in a 21-7 win for the "Orange" team, but the big winner on Sunday was Will Muschamp's secondary, which only allowed quarterbacks Colt McCoy and Sherrod Harris to complete 40 percent of their passes and pulled down a pair of big interceptions.

A couple of the announcers during the OU/OSU game were saying that tomorrow's coaches poll is being made public.  I couldn't find an official announcement of this and always thought that it was the final poll after all the conference championships were over (ie.  not tomorrow).

Could someone shed some light on this?  I think we all know how important transparency will be.  What with reports that Mack Brown could basically vote OU out of the top 25 and vote Texas #1,  or that other coaches collectively could vote OU #1 and Texas low... etc etc.  Regardless of the outcome, people want to know how that outcome was arrived at.

any word on cosby and orakpo?  i dont' know where to look for injury reports and such.  cosby was out with a shot to the ribs right? and orakpo hyper extended his right knee?
