Rumor: Mavs are negotiating a sign-and-trade for Shawn Marion.

Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports.....

After reports of resigning Kidd to a 3-year, $25 million contract, it appears that Mark Cuban and Marion's agent Dan Fegan are pushing for the trade to involve either Memphis or Oklahoma City as a third team in order to help the Raptors clear cap space for the newly-acquired Hedo Turkoglu.

A twist to the Cuban SEC insider trading complaint.

As most of you are already familiar, the Securities and Exchange commission filed a complaint about the sale of stock in a company using insider information in 2004.

Floyd Norris, the chief financial correspondent of The New York Times and The International Herald Tribune, has an article in the NY Times that suggests that the complaint may have been pursued as the result of political revenge from supporters of the Bush administration.

The article reveals what's claimed to be an email sent by Jeffrey Norris, an S.E.C. lawyer in the Fort Worth regional office to Mark Cuban. The email taunts Cuban about the filing and seems to suggest that his support of the movie Loose Change may be related to the commission's decision to file the complaint.

Rick Carlisle is the early candidate.

According to Mark Stein's secret mole....

Mark Stein is reporting that ex-Pacers/Pistons head coach Rick Carlisle has interviewed for the Mavs head coaching position.

According to the article, he did not meet with Mark Cuban during this initial interview. Perhaps coincidental, but Coach Carlisle doesn't exactly have a sparkling reputation with playing nice with team management. There is also mention that Carlisle interviewed with the New York Knicks for their vacant head coach position.

Fazekas not coming back?

According to the OC Register, Nick Fazekas is expected to sign a 10-day contract with the LA Clippers on Wednesday.

The Clips have some injuries, so obviously it's a gamble they can afford. I suppose I get my wish now, albeit in unexpected fashion.

Magloire is no Mbenga, but he'll do.

Tim Mcmahon says it's a public apology to Canada about that whole Steve Nash thing.

The trade winds and media blow-hards continue to do just that.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that Shaquille O'neal's representation says the Miami Heat have contacted them about the possibility of trading him.

UPDATE: Yeah, you knew that already.

Teams mentioned as possible suitors in the article mention Phoenix and Dallas. While the possible/imaginary Dallas deal mentioned gave no specifics, the Phoenix scenario reportedly involves sending Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to Miami.

Dear God, please make the trade deadline be gone already.
