Forget cars, the Deuce knows Golfin' and Grillin'

Deuce is staying busy with his business ventures...just lay off the fried food so you will be ready for that triumphant return mid-season.

As much as he misses playing in the NFL, though, McAllister admitted that he hasn't been longing for the training camp experience. "I don't miss that at all," McAllister said. "I still talk to some of the guys and I wish them all the luck in the world. I know what they're going through."

McAllister also spent a couple weeks working out at his alma mater in Oxford, Miss., this summer. And Monday, he was back in Jackson, Miss., for a ground-breaking ceremony introducing the new restaurant and entertainment center, Mac & Bones, that he is opening along with NBA star Tracy McGrady.

McAllister and McGrady have known each other for about three years, he said, through a mutual friend and business partner. The sports-themed restaurant and miniature golf course are scheduled to open in October

Deuce, leadership through grief

Yes I know he's gone....but not forgotten.

http://www.sunherald.com/opinion/story/1480613.html

“Watch your thoughts, for they become your words. Watch your words, for they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. And your character becomes your destiny.”

I've said it before, it's not only about the wins and losses.  The great ones excel both on and off the field.  Just waiting for the good news of someone giving him a chance to prove himself again.  I've heard we may need a long snapper and weakside linebacker.  Didn't Deuce play these in pop warner?  Does gumbo or Sir Saint need a breather?

Anything to get him back. Gotta love the Deuce.

Deuce as an Eagle

Greetings from the big easy.  As a diehard Saints fan I hated to see Deuce McAllister let go.  About a month ago some rumors were swirling of Deuce possibly landing in Philly.

As of last week, a Jackson, MS news station reported Deuce was close to signing with the Eagles.  Any news?  If ya'll get him you won't be disappointed.  He is the ultimate professional and team player.  Some say he has lost a step but he still showed his tremendous power, heart, and determination last year.

Now with another year of rehab under his belt he should be ready to go and could be a nice change of pace for ya'll.

What do you think?

The Edge

Say it isn't so....Deuce's locker is still warm and the saints are mulling bringing in a 30+ year old running back not named "Dulymus" to handle short yardage situations.

Can coach Payton please get this knife out of my back so I can think straight.  Does anyone else feel betrayed?

Who would you rather have?  I'll take Deuce anyday of the week and twice on gameday over Edge!

Execution at Vilma's Condo?

My brother just sent me this link.  Obviously this is as early in an investigation as it gets, but this is bad mojo.

Two off the field incidents, whether innocent or not, add to distractions for Vilma.  Starcaps, staying in Metairie for camp (potential distractions especially for rookies), and now this just add a little offseason controversy which the Saints surely don't need.

Hopefully these things will be cleared up by the time camp rolls around.  Now your thoughts.

Starcaps Latest...

I stated these same observations in a post a week or two ago.  If the NFL willingly kept the information from its players that starcaps contained a diuretic, they were putting them at serious risk.

I believe the "urine tests" were from training camp or shortly after.  The NFL would be singing a different tune if one of these players would have suffered heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Deuce may not be a Saint next year but he should be a rich ex-Saint when this case is resolved.

What do these running backs have in common?

Question:  What do Ladainian Tomlison, Marion Barber, Matt Forte, and Deuce McAllister have in common?

Each is averaging 3.8 yards per carry (Barber 3.9).  I chose the first three because everyone will immediately recognize their names.  No one questions their worth or what they mean to their orginazations success.  A lot of people remember Matt Forte during his Tulane days and feel he is having a great rookie campaign.

Question:  What is the biggest difference in these 4 players?

They each have about 100 more carries this season than Deuce McAllister.  As a matter of fact, compare LT and Deuce's career stats: LT avg. 4.5, Deuce 4.3 per carry.  They were drafted the same year, but LT has twice as many career carries.  How can Deuce perform if he is not given the opportunity?

Now obviously I'm a little biased towards Deuce, but I hate to see him squander what is left of his career playing cheerleader to Sean Payton's lust to break Marino's record.  KC has a horrible run defense.  Can we please find out once and for all whether Deuce can still be that back that we all know?  Can we give the defense a rest by running the ball?  Can Payton evolve as a coach or continue this downward spiral towards mediocrity?

I just don't believe he is done.  A lot of people were quick to write him off after his second knee surgery.  Personally, I felt it was his heart that set him apart.  I knew he would do the necessary work to get back to where he needed to be.  He is a warrior, a leader, a winner.

As a lifelong fan you hate to see the great ones cast aside before their time is up!  Hell, watch Deuce in his younger days.  He doesn't look much different than he does now.  His numbers are not much different either except for his haphazard use in the games.  Rush for 4 yards, take him out.  2nd and 3, take him out.  1st and 10, throw deep, then take him out.  4 carries in the first half, sit him for a quarter and a half.  Score a touchdown on a swing pass, done for the day.

I wish Deuce (and Drew Brees for that matter) would walk into Payton's office when he is game planning for the next opponent and say, "coach I'm ready, I've always been ready, it is time to give me the rock!"

Now your thoughts.......

The question of the day is not whether Reggie Bush (or Kush) is a bust, but whether Shockey is...........

Finally, national media is taking notice of Payton!

This quote was taken from Espn.com TMQ by Greg Easterbrook.  Finally, someone is willing to call Payton out on his lopsided playcalling.  I'm sick of the free ride he has been getting.  I wish someone would actually start asking him tough questions and demand real answers in his press conferences.  Plus, I can't believe I posted similar thoughts earlier.

Sour Play-Calling of the Week: New Orleans gained 521 yards Sunday, and lost. One reason was because the Saints' coaches called 61 passes (attempts plus sacks and scrambles) versus just 15 rushes. This kind of play-calling generates great stats, along with L's, in the standings. And please don't tell the New England Patriots that injuries at running back mean you should abandon the run! As for the outbursts on the New Orleans sideline, aren't you glad Jeremy Shockey is not on your team? That's certainly how 31 of 32 NFL franchises feel, and it is unclear why New Orleans does not feel the same way. Thrice-waived New Orleans tight end Billy Miller is a better player than Shockey, and a locker room positive rather than a negative. Eli Manning did not blossom as a quarterback until he was rid of the obligation to force the ball to Shockey in order to stroke Shockey's ego. Now Drew Brees is accumulating great numbers, but trying to force the ball to Shockey is holding back the Saints.

GLADIATOR

Payton – “Why doesn’t the hero reveal himself and tell us your real name? You do have a name?”
Deuce – “My name is gladiator.”
Payton – “How dare you show your back to me, remove your helmet and tell me your name!”
Deuce – “My name is Dulymus Jenod McAllister, commander of the armies of the Dome, loyal servant to the true emperor the fans. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next!”

IT IS TIME!!!!!
