Regarding the chatter

ESPN has some rundown on the chatter since midnight last night. The big news in Clips Nation was Yao going down probably for at least the year. Most of us were hoping that we could swing a trade for Battier using Kaman or Camby as bait, but now word is the Rockets are going hard after Marcin Gortat. That would make a Clippers trade much more unlikely. Artest seems likely to stay and I think that would be a good thing for our chances, but maybe full on rebuilding mode would be better?

The Pistons on the other hand are making Villanueva their top priority which could bode well for their chances of trading Prince. Kaman for Prince still sounds good to me.

And Ariza apparently won't be giving the Lakers a home town discount. Maybe stay in LA but move over to Clipperland?

OK, so they couldn't have messed things up too bad yesterday, Blake Griffin was the obvious pick. But Lisa Dillman's new article in the LA times says the Clips are having quite a bit of interest in Zach Randolf but do not want to trade him! What? You get the #1 pick, a can't miss guy, you have to start him! He's that good. You can't get him stuck behind a guy with not much future. Everyone is talking about Kaman or Camby and I assumed it was because we couldnt get rid of ZBO's contract. But if we can, why would we choose to get of a solid post up center in Kaman or a defensive player of the year with an expiriing contract whose value will only go up as we get closer to the deadline. And a guy who was considered untouchable by the Clips for a good part of the season. I say if we can get rid of Randolf lets do it, I don't even care if we get much back. Chemistry is going to be vital and we need Griffin starting and becoming the new leader, something Randolf probably wont be ok with. Regarding the previous post, if we have a chance to get Amare or Rubio, I'm open to more options, but for now, lets trade Randolf

Well, it looks like Miller was definitely being talked about. The Wizards get him and Foye for not a lot (the #5 and Songalia, Pecherov and Thomas). I think Minny will get the PG they want, but Clips wont be trading for Miller now, which I'm OK with. I think they end up trading Kaman this week and not Camby, but i think they'll get more than Miller for him> I'm still hoping they can get Teyshaun Prince.

The perfect fit

I'm not sure how or if this is gonna be possible, but watching the Finals, I'm realizing the perfect fit for this team is Hedo Torkoglu. This dude is amazing. Clippers have to go for a SF. I agree with many that Al Thornton would be best as a sixth man. Again, I don't know if Torkoglu will opt out and become a FA, and if the Clips will be able to afford him or do some kind of sign and trade, but it would be nice. Baron and EG are set. Griffin and Camby or Kaman down low. Turkoglu would be a great addition of a passer that can create shots for others, but also score the ball. I heard the Ariza talk, but i think HT would be a better fit.

Great. Now SI is reporting that the Clips are entertaining offers for their top pick. Not that you wouldn't expect them to listen to offers, but you gotta get the feeling that if they trade this pick they'll mess something up. Although I haven't seen much of Rubio, I think he is a much bigger gamble then taking Griffin, and I doubt they would want to trade down too far. Griffin is a guy that we can definitely build around. If we get the real Baron back, along with Eric Gordon, this team is going to be good. If we get Rubio and get rid of the #1 and possibly Baron, I can see this team getting even worse and more boring to watch.

I think more and more of us think Dunleavy is holding the Clips back as coach. Baron is definitely being held back and I think we can be an uptempo team with a different coach. I dont mind him staying on as a GM, although I don't know if that would make the chemistry a mess. Question is who? Can we find a very good coach midseason? I think Clipper Steve had some suggestions in a recent post including Kurt Rambis and Eddie Jordan. Thoughts? Ideas?

After missing out on Azu, I'm not sure there are a lot of great options unless they can pull off a trade. I still hope they are able to resign Shaun Livingston because of his defense, size and versatility. Checking out the LA times story about Sasha Vujacic that has him potentially following Childress' lead into Europe, I thought he would be a pretty good fit for Clips. Not sure if the Lakers would let him go to the Clips, but he's a real good defender and has a very nice 3 point shot. Could this be what Ramona Shelburne's waiting to announce?

Good news for Clippers fans, the Lakers did not match the offer sheet to Turiaf, officially making him a Warrior, and making it less likely that the warriors will match the Clips offer sheet to Buike. They've got too many forwards with the addition of Turiaf and Maggette, I doubt they'll be matching now. We took BD, they took Maggette, we signed Buike, and for some reason I gotta feeling they'll be going for Livingston next.

ESPN has it
