Dream Draft for everyone
Ok we see so many mock drafts and FA pick-up posts this time of year, and they are all so serious and based on what would probably happen or what is likely to be the pick in that situation, so I would like to lighten the mood a little bit.
So here is my idea! If you had picks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the draft and there was a rookie salary cap which limited the outrageous salaries from those picks, who would you pick. And for all of those who would trade one of them for like ten other picks, sorry no trades allowed! You have to use the first 5 picks and those are the only picks we have. So any second round guys you really want you have to get with these picks.
Here goes my list:
#1 Eric Berry - Because who doesn't want the next Ed Reed
#2 C.J. Spiller - Chris Johnson 2.0 and what it could do for our offense
#3 Rolando McClain - People are starting to hate a little, but still could be very close to a Patrick Willis
#4 Sean Weatherspoon - Here is the questionable pick, but the best OLB in pass coverage in the draft and that is our biggest need from our LB core. In the Senior Bowl he was all over the RB and TE and has several picks in his career.
#5 Dez Bryant - The one I'm least comfortable with mainly because I haven't given up on Patrick Turner, but WR is still a major need and this pick could end that need for us for the next decade.
So there are my 5 picks in the draft! Now post yours!

Hit me like a freight train!!!
I was over at the Revenge of the birds, the Cardinals blog, reading an article about the possibility of them acquiring Joey Porter given his latest statement of wanting to go to them or San Diego or San Fransisco. When a simple comment hit me like a train. The Cardinals were in the top eight teams in the NFL this year, which means with no new CBA they can only make one FA signing excluding their own players. So what does that mean? It means that to allow themselves to make any other FA signing they would have to trade for Porter instead of waiting to sign him if we release him. With the new rules of FA signings you can make one signing over $5 million but anything else has to be an in house signing. So if they needed two players they would sign one and have to trade for the other.
The CBA is working in our favor in this because any other year and Porter would get us maybe a 7th, but most likely nothing; however the CBA is driving his value up to the poing that some of the people over there stated they would gladly accept Porter and Thigpen for Anquan. That is huge compared to what value we have been projecting getting for Porter so far.
So what are your thoughts does the CBA make it where we can actually trade Porter for value or does it not make any difference at all and we just release him?
Reason for Hope
I have found myself sulking the past few weeks as the Fins have given away 2 consecutive games that should have been won. We have gone from the #1 in the hunt team for a wildcard spot to needing 4 teams to lose and a Dolphin win just to get the final playoff spot. But in all the talk about the playoff hopes that have been dashed, the real thing we have not been discussing is our draft position. I'm not one to give up on a season early to look forward to the offseason, but with this being the last week of the regular season I feel that it is time we look ahead.
Player rankings going into our bye week.
What I am doing is ranking each player for the Dolphins on what they have accomplished this season. This is not based on thier potential or paycheck, just performance. So discuss and let me know what you think.
LeRoy Hill?
Does anyone else think we should make a play for Hill? The Seahawks pulled their franchise tag since they got Aaron Curry. Hill is only 26 and would be a great coverage type OLB since he has experience and will not be switching from DE. He will be a bit high $ wise and got busted for weed but what a playmaker. What are your guys thoughts? He could either play ROLB for Roth or ILB for Ayodele
I need a favor
I know Nicky and Gator have been doing draft profiles and what I was wondering is if one of you could do a head to head of Clint Stintim and Aaron Maybin. I see Maybin going before Stintim in a lot of mocks and was wondering why that is. If I'm noy mistaken Maybin is a one year starter an Stintim has three years. I assume because Maybin is smaller he will have better numbers at the combine but is Stintim the better performer? Are the numbers more important than stats. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Is this a sign???

Check out who is at the top of this article on ESPN. It is talking about who is most important to his playoff team and Rz's man CP10 is on top, could this be a sign of the fact that the FINS are going to the Bowl of Superness??? I must agree CP10 is more important to the Dolphins than anyone else to their team!!! Lets Go FINS beat them birds and show everyone we aren't just a lucky team with an easy schedule!
Bills fans being jerks
I just went over to Buffalo Rumblings and they had an article about shutting down Ginn. They were talking about needing to contain him because he will be the first thing we go for because of his performance last time we played them but then they went to far when they said, "Ginn needs a couple of teeth knocked out." Then, "Or, at the very least, to be slowed down." Wow what a bunch of jerks who just want one of our guys to be injured so they can save a crappy season. Here is the link go check it out.

A bad turned positive?
I HATE absolutely HATE the fact that Cam is out for the rest of the season so don't get the idea that I don't care, but what if this is what will bring out a true #1 size and skills set receiver. Yes I am talking about the newest bandwagon, man crush Brandon London. He is 6-4 210. Would fate have it that because Cam went down we discover that we have no need for a receiver this year in the draft. How freakin awesome would that be if by the end of this year he was pulling down double teams and still racking up 100 yds a game? That might be stretching it a little bit, but one thing I don't like the idea of is putting Wilford in. He is a bum. He is ripping us off 6 million and frankly I don't care if he ever touches the field again except on special teams. So please please Sparano for all that is good put London and lets see what we have. So what if it takes 3 or 4 games or even until the beginning of next year. I don't want to hear about potential I want to see it on the field!!! So what do you think?
New signing
We just cut Nonkovic and added Erik Walden as a special teams wedge man and guess what he was drafted by dallas. He is a 6-2 DE/OLB and had 10 tackles in 9 games on special teams.

Tar Heels basketball game
Hey guys I am an new member here at Carolina March and have been a die hard fan since I can remember. But I have never been to a game so I was wondering how much tickets would be to a home basketball game. If someone could let me know that would be awesome. They don't have to be fantastic seats just somewhere where I can see ok. Any info would be much appreciated.
Roy Williams getting annoying but...
All the talk of Roy Williams is getting kinda boring but there is one fact that no one has pointed out yet that might be in our favor for getting him. I am not saying that we definitely should, but I thought this view was kind of interesting. Looking at all the teams in the NFL there aren't many that would qualify as being candidates for this trade possibly driving down the cost required to have him. Lets take a look
Bears, Packers, Vikings are all out of the equation because they are all in the NFC North with Detriot so I don't see that happening.
Bengals, Browns, Steelers, Panthers, Saints, Texans, Colts, Cowboys, Giants, Redskins, Bills, Patriots, Jets, Cardinals, Broncos, Chargers all have #1 wide outs and don't need another one.
49ers no way he goes back to Martz.
Cheifs, Rams, Falcons, Seahawks, Raiders have to many other needs to spend any picks on a wide out.
Titans are absoultely against getting wide receivers.
Ravens and Jaguars are iffy because I think that they will pass on such a price tag.
Eagles look good with Desean Jackson.
So that leaves us and the Buccaneers not saying any of this is definite but with only two teams interested it could drop the asking price drastically.
Just talking out of my head because I am bored but I thought this might make it more reasonable to look at this move. Let me know what you guys think.
Not trying to start anything but...
I was taking a look at the patriots blog to see what they were saying after last weeks embarassing loss and I came across this post that was put up before the game. I was shocked at how conceited they were here is what they said...
"Division games have different dynamics than others. Having to play each other twice a year they get to know each other pretty well. The teams often sign free agents and draft players that will help them to beat the teams in thier division, which is the road to the playoffs. I think if the Pats are going to be upset (not talking about elite teams) in a game this year, it will most likely be a divisional opponent. However......., I actually feel feel bad for Miami this week, the advantage of talent, motivation, structure, and coaching that the Pats enjoy over the Phins is like the lions had over the Christians in the Roman arena."
Then someone else said...
"The Bills might be a challenge, definitely, and you can’t completely rule out the motivating factor of the humiliated Jets (who were supposed to be exacting revenge on the Pats in week 2.) I’m not even going to try to justify Miami stealing a win against us this season, ’cause so many other things would have to go horribly wrong for that to happen."
Oh that makes me angry how conceited they are. Well not to bust anyone's bubble but they had a many other things go horribly wrong and I feel sorry for their lack of talent and poor coaching that has to cheat to win. And I definitely didn't see any motivation on Moss' part or anyone else on the team. Sorry I just had to vent cuz that made me angry.
Looking ahead!!!
Not that I am writing off this year or anything like that but I wanted to look ahead to next years offseason. Our D-Line looks solid and our O-Line will gel by the end of this season I am sure so I am going to post what I would do if I were Parcells and we are where we are right now.
Free agents- WR
Roy Williams is my first choice in a WR. After so many losing seasons with one team I don't think he wants to be on a team that is going nowhere.
Lee Evans is my second choice but I don't see him leaving the Bills because they are starting to look pretty good.
Housh will not leave Cincy because Chad will be the one to go if either do.
Boldin is gonna be too expensive salary and draft pick wise so a no go here too.
So if we get Roy Williams then we line him and Ginn up and Bess in the slot and there is our WRs
Now as our DBs go the only quality corner free agent is gonna be Nnamdi Asomugha but I think Al Davis pays him out the rear end and he stays so we will have to go with a different strategy on our DBs.
I read today that Roy Williams is not the man the Cowboys want. So I say offer a 3rd or 4th for him since Jones will give any one away for a draft pick and that makes your secondary a whole heck of a lot stronger.
Now for corner we will have to see what the Eagles might want for Lito Shepherd but if it was reasonable we have 2 2nd round picks so offer them that and see if they bite it.
If those two go through then our secondary is fine you have Roy Williams and Bell at safeties and Shepherd and Allen at corner.
Now this will make us have 2 Roy Williams and one Ricky Williams =)
Draft
I am hoping for a great season but I also want a high draft pick so we can pick up a monster in George Selvie. He would be our rush 3-4 OLB and fill in what we lost in Taylor. He is a beast who already requires double and triple teams in his junior year so that would open up for anyone else to get pressure if they put even two on Selvie.
Then the worse the Redskins do the better our draft pick is. So if they are in the bottom five we should have two high 2nd round picks. With one we probably get Lito for so the other one I would get Vince Oghobaase NT out of Duke as a backup for now and eventual replacement for Fergy.
Making our Devensive front Merling, Holliday, Fergy, Oghobaase, Langford, Selvie, Crowder, Ayodele, Roth, Torbor, and Porter
After that I would take off and let my coaching staff do the rest cuz that is too much for me to think about now =)
So what do you guys think?
Cuts
We cut Kircus and Roberson today that should almost solidify Bess making the team here is the story http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/miamidolphins/index.html They are getting the roster trimmed down for the 53 by next Saturday and we are already ahead of the 75 by Tuesday.

Switching draft picks
I have just recently joined thephinsider and have noticed a lot of people talking about the 2007 draft and wishing we would have picked Quinn or Willis or someone besides Ginn...I personally like Ginn now but didn't agree with the pick when it happened but I was looking at the 2005 draft and wondering why no one ever wants to switch that draft up. We got Ronnie pick 2 and Matt Roth pick 46 but what if we had gotten Braylon Edwards pick 2 and Frank Gore pick 46 I don't know but I think that that would have made a bigger difference than ginn or whoever else...but hindsight is always 20/20 and I am looking forward to this year as much as anyone!!!!!
