A (mostly) unapologetic bigamist fan of two NHL teams, which fortunately never have anything to do with each other -- thus preventing really awkward moments at family functions.

It's complicated. And painful.

Dad - a Blues '67 fan - said: "Hey, we sent Bowman away. We sent Arbour away. Follow this team if you must, but keep an eye on Arbour's Islanders."

Confused but knowing not to cross my father, I did both. Addiction set in early. I've rooted for every Sutter except Darryl. The Milbury years nearly ended me. But they also gave me some perspective on how to truly enjoy this sport, one knifing at a time.

I'm still delicately rebuilding the Blues half of my soul after Bill Laurie dropped one last pile of Paige (Sports!) on it. These things take time.

Isles vs. Montreal: Road to nowhere

Having put a putrid 2013-14 home record in the books, the "road warrior" New York Islanders take their selective samples out on the road to finish the season, with increasingly meaningless stops in Montreal, New Jersey and Buffalo.

2014 NHL Draft Rankings and You

Sens 4 (EN), Isles 1: Home slate mercifully over

The New York Islanders will finish the 2013-14 season with 13 home wins, the fewest since the 2000-01 season. That's about all you need -- plus gifs! -- from their 4-1 loss to the Senators.

CBJ 4, Isles 0: PK rolls over as tanks roll in

If only there were no such thing as special teams, this game would have been close and entertaining. Alas, absent that EA Sports version of the world, the New York Islanders' penalty kill undid their mostly good even strength play to let the Columbus
