A (mostly) unapologetic bigamist fan of two NHL teams, which fortunately never have anything to do with each other -- thus preventing really awkward moments at family functions.

It's complicated. And painful.

Dad - a Blues '67 fan - said: "Hey, we sent Bowman away. We sent Arbour away. Follow this team if you must, but keep an eye on Arbour's Islanders."

Confused but knowing not to cross my father, I did both. Addiction set in early. I've rooted for every Sutter except Darryl. The Milbury years nearly ended me. But they also gave me some perspective on how to truly enjoy this sport, one knifing at a time.

I'm still delicately rebuilding the Blues half of my soul after Bill Laurie dropped one last pile of Paige (Sports!) on it. These things take time.

[Bits] Ding, dong, the ... almost but not yet

251

For the third time this series (hee hee), the Rangers played a strong and arguably better game (hee hee), yet still came away with a loss in Game 3 (bwahahaha), to fall back to the brink in the...

Top 25U25: Taylor Cammarata at #19. A small 19.

88

The good news is Taylor Cammarata was a creative scoring contributor in his first season (NCAA) with an absolutely stacked Minnesota Gophers team. The bad news is he's still 5'7.

Trade Rumors: #5 pick in play? Centers everywhere?

285

The narrative that is quickly taking hold for the upcoming NHL offseason can be boiled down to this: Everyone is willing to move their first-round pick, no one is pleased with the summer's free...

Top 25U25: At #20, John Persson has company

33

John Persson's second pro season did not go as planned, as injuries limited him to 46 games on the last-place Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Top 25U25: #21, Crus Rydberg's fun to say.

54

Victor Crus Rydberg was drafted as a potential value pick in last summer's fifth round, billed as a two-way player with good hockey sense and a willingness to learn the North American game.

Top 25U25: Any room left for #22 Aaron Ness?

56

It was always going to be an uphill battle for Aaron Ness, whose size meant he'd have to impress with his skill and agility. He's done that, but is it enough to stick around with the New York...

Will Dan Boyle Sign?

203

Once the dust settled on the Thursday afternoon trade of Dan Boyle to the New York Islanders, the next question is: How likely is he to sign?

Top 25U25: At #23, Kirill Petrov one more time

19

What can I say, I'm a Kirill Petrov fan? If he made the oceanic leap, I'm confident he'd be an immediate contributor as a smart middle-six guy for the New York Islanders.

Snow Attack: Isles acquire rights to Dan Boyle

502

Garth Snow is targeting pre-free agents again: The New York Islanders have acquired the rights to unrestricted free agent defenseman Dan Boyle in exchange for a 5th-round pick, which will become a...

[Bits] Wang weighs sale options, mascot candidates

624

We begin the morning with the words of a cat. Because cats and keyboards refuse to part.

Top25U25: #24 - Kabanov's journey...and descent?

198

It's long past time to use words like "first-round talent" and "would have been in the mix except for..." about Kirill Kabanov, who still has the talent but can't seem to convince a team to depend...

[Bits] Streit's Philly Year; Turgeon's Son; Salo

353

The Stanley Cup final begins tonight. There can be only one winner. But so many things to read.

Top 25U25: Halmo grinds against the odds to #25

56

No "pedigree" to speak of, but earning an NHL job wouldn't be the first time Mike Halmo beat the odds.

[Bits] Isles in Bridgeport; Gaborik/Carter Effect

455

Today is one of those odd days without NHL hockey. It will be back tomorrow, but you'll be nervous about it.

Top 25U25: Bastards (outsiders with 1 vote or so)

75

Previously we showed you the few who, like Emmett Fitz-Hume in "Spies Like Us," attended the reading of a 25U25 poll and found out they got nothing. Today's lucky players at least received one vote...

[Bits] Game 7 Thread; NHL rumors and tomfoolery

117

The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks, the two most recent Stanley Cup champs and repeat Western Conference finalists, are at it one more time tonight to determine who gets to punch up the...

Top 25U25: Not these guys, nope

137

We begin our pre-draft look at the top 25 New York Islanders under age 25 by perusing the youngsters who didn't make the cut.

How Uncle Jesse Fits Isles Hazzard Blueline

109

With Jesse Graham signed, the Islanders have a lot of defensemen under contract, including every non-college kid from their 2012 draft.

[Bits] The horror, now intensified, is almost over

390

Lest you be terrified by what happened last night, comfort yourself with this thought: The next four Rangers losses will lead to delicious heartbreak.

[Bits] Frans Fantasy and Lego Tavares

287

There is no real Islanders news, but as always that won't prevent us from discussing the team all day and all night.

[Bits] Some goalies, some Satan, Vanek & Gretzky

238

These are things to read about hockey. Some of them involve Islanders.

[Goalie Bits] Price, Miller out; Elliott re-signed

238

Goalies get hurt, goalies disappoint, goalies are the root of all that ails.

Isles Sale Talks: Barroway has financing, partners

Rumblings about the proposed sale of the New York Islanders with reported bidder Andrew Barroway getting closer to arranging the financing and partners needed to meet Islanders owner Charles Wang's...

[Bits] Tavares skates; Nelson scores; Game 7

223

Brock Nelson scores a pair for the U.S. at the World Championship in Belarus.

[Bits] Bile for Bylsma; Loserhood for Lucic

404

Dan Bylsma is suddenly stupid and mean, because that's what happens to even Stanley Cup-winning NHL coaches.

[Bits] MVP Reinhart to Memorial Cup, not to Oilers

440

New York Islanders prospect Griffin Reinhart's Oil Kings won Game 7 in Portland to take the championship and reserve a Memorial Cup birth, and he was named MVP of the series.

[Bits] IIHF march, playoffs extend, hit of year

172

It's a Saturday, both series last night were extended, and the other two continue tonight. (No afternoon games.) But if you're jonesing for daytime hockey, the U.S. plays Switzerland at the World...
