NFL cancels Hall of Fame game
http://www.timesleader.com/sports/NFL-cancels-Hall-of-Fame-game-.html
YES! I was really hoping that the game would be canceled. Didn't like the prospects of the Rams playing an extra preseason game. Still optimistic the season will start on time with a shortened preseason.
If we had the depth than I wouldn't worry about playing the game, but since we don't we can afford such a long season/injuries, etc.
Observations from last night's game on ESPN
I live in Northern California so I don't get to see too many games (ie.. I don't have any baseball packages or Direct TV). Some things I noticed which were pretty amusing:
1) In the introductions for Manny Rameriz did anyone else notice that ESPN I think had a St. Louis Cardinals hat on Manny for one of his pictures
2) I know this isn't new, but I can't stand looking at Orel Hershiser face when he talks. I'm safely assuming that ESPN doesn't care if he's wincing and looking like he's punching one out every time he makes a comment
3) That Furcal catch in foul ground was amazing
All in all lots of missed opportunities, the ball bounced the Cardinals way and I tihnk they should be there in the end for a playoff spot at worst a Wild Card slot.
Should Broxton start the All-Star game?
- W-L 6-0
- ERA 1.29
- K 45
- Walks 10
- Saves 13
Who's to say a closer couldn't start the All Star game if he isn't the best pitcher in either league. Has there ever been a closer or non-starter pitch the first inning of an all star game? I'm a little too lazy right now to do any research and I tried to do a search but didn't come up with much. If a closer can win the Cy Young why not be the starter.
Casey Blake imitating Brian Wilson
Classic. At least this is consistent with the way that Blake feels about people showboating and especially pitchers. To me I could go either way so if Wilson wants to do whatever he wants to do, he also needs to be open to others imitating him or countering what he does. It adds a little spice to the rivalry that I think needs a little kick start. Should be interesting to see the next time they face each other and if Wilson will retaliate.
2009 Runs scored per inning
Are there readily available stats that show the Dodgers runs scored per inning? Seems like we are dominating the first inning this year and I can't find the stats anywhere on the web. If someone can get those stats or knows a good website that tallies those, that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.
Interesting tidbits, Dodgers are:
Second in NL in foul balls hit, First in the majors in intentional bases on balls and overall bases on balls and first in total plate appearances (Total plate appearances
AB + BB + HBP + SF + SH + times reached on defensive interference)
Showing 1 - 5 of 5
