Posnanski sums up the Revenue disparity in baseball pretty well
Key statistic: Yankees spent 94.4% of their revenue (AFTER revenue sharing) on baseball (which includes payroll as one component. The Kansas City Royals spent 94.3% of their revenue on baseball. The difference? The Yankees spent $416 million on baseball while the Royals spent $146 million on baseball.
Fangraphs What We Learned from MiLB: Week One
Was cruising Fangraphs this morning and found a nice blurb about the K-Tribe and their current team 10.86 K/9 and sparkling 1.86 ERA. Not much else in the link except for details about the individuals, but I thought it might be a nice pick me up in the midst of the current MLB outcomes.
Dellucci DFA'ed – Raffy L back with the big club
The guys at WFNY don't have a link to where they got the info, but they're saying it, thought others might want to know.
Edit (by Ryan): I've added the cleveland.com link.
Extra ticket to Friday and Saturday game
My buddy who was coming up from Richmond with me had a death in the family and can no longer make it. So, rather than just sell my ticket to a scalper (if there will even be any out this early in the season) and get hosed, I'm going to offer them up here to see if anyone's interested in an early season game.
The complication being that if you see the parking thread which everyone has been very helpful with, thanks, I'm making it with just a touch to spare on Friday....so, I have front row seats in section 103 for Friday's game and front row seats in the bleachers in 181 for Saturday's game. Saturday would be a lot easier to meet you somewhere outside the park with plenty of time to spare to get you this ticket. Friday unfortunately you would be at the whim of traffic and my eight hour trip from Richmond, but they're good seats.
List price is $24 for 103 and $18 for the bleachers. I'll entertain numbers under that knowing that this ticket will go to another Tribe fan. So, who's up for some ballgames? If you think it might work, post and we'll get in touch to iron out details.
Parking around the P(redacted) question
So I'm driving into town from Richmond on Friday after I take a test in the morning, literally hopping in the car and pulling into a parking spot by the stadium and walking right in hopefully at first pitch. It's about 8 hours from here to there and my test ends at 10:50 AM.
Due to these time frames, any advice from locals on where to park. I don't necessarily need the best deal, but things I'm looking for:
-knowing there's a spot available
-easy access from the interstate (not sure how I'm getting there yet...but from the South)
That's about all...appreciate the help.
Martinez, Barf to DL: Haad, Velandia up
Good for getting Martinez some rest, bad for the season hopes.
UPDATE: Victor is having arthroscopic surgery and isn't expected back until August. To clear the two spots on the 40-man roster, Westbrook has been moved to the 60-day DL — he's expected to be out at least 300 days — and Oneli Perez has been DFA'ed. [Jay]
