Head Shots and the NHL ( Not a Chara Specific Post )
Bob McKenzie from TSN posted a great article that can be found here.
C-Leaguer says that soccer is often about being as " Un-American " as possible, hence the refusal to even consider reply, the game clock that is not accurate and diving being a celebrated part of that game.
To mold his comment to this article and debate, I get the distinct vibe that the aversion to any sort of real head shot rule for fear of " taking physicality out of the game " is really more about keeping North American hockey from being " European ". There seems to be a hypermasculine under-current here where people should be responsible to " Keep their heads up " and " tough ". Clearly, Eurohockey does not place the same emphasis on hitting and I get the distinct vibe that people fear change could lead to that style of game. I am interested to see how those of you out their feel.
Why is the league so dedicated to keeping a team in Phoenix
Due to the potential implications this fight may have on other " Non-Traditional " markets, I was wondering why is the NHL so dedicated to keeping a team in Phoenix? Being from a southern market, I understand people hating on a fan base simply for its location, however, it truly appears that Phoenix simply does not have the fans to support a successful team. Why is the league fighting tooth and nail to keep one there?
Would another market of this type receive the same level of determination from the league to keep a team there?
Talk amongst yourselves.
