The fact that this series is going the full 5 games, while the Yankees easily wrapped up their matchup with the Twins in 3, is, IMHO, the absolute best case scenario for the Yankees going into the next round.    The main reason, of course, is the setup of the pitching rotations for the next series.   Because the Rays - Rangers series won't end until Tuesday, and Tuesday's contest will pit both teams aces - David Price against Cliff Lee,  those guys will be used up - and whichever team wins the series, will certainly not have their ace available to open up the Series on Friday, and probably not Saturday either.   Meanwhile, all 3 of the Yankees top starters will have even more than normal rest - something that seems particularly critical for Hughes and Pettitte.   Now, it's clear that if that series goes 7 games, all 3 of the top Yankees starters can pitch twice - and all with lengthy rest if Burnett is used in game 4.  Meanwhile  Lee/Price will only be avaiable in Game 3 and Game 6/7.   Even if they short rest the ace, they can only go in Games 2 and 5, and the second of those games would be that ace's 3rd start in succession on short rest - and the chance of that ace being available for more than a couple of innings if necessary out of the pen in game 7 are almost nil - while CC would have pitched games 1 and 5 on normal or longer than normal rest, thus making him likely to be much more available for a significant contribution to a Game 7 if needed.   And if he's NOT needed there, the whole cycle will start again in the WS, with a well rested trio of prime starters - who, at that point, would probably be ideally primed to pitch the whole WS, set up exactly as the Yankees would wish to.

I had a bad feeling about this when the Cheatriots picked him up.   It looks like Danny Woodhead is being used in the Kevin Faulk role for the Cheats, and he's delivering for them big time.  He had a beautiful long run for a TD, and another really nice one for a key 3rd down conversion on the Pats most recent drive.  Without his contributions, the Bills, who have been surprisingly tough, may well have beaten the Cheats today.

It would seem he would be a solid fill-in while Pace is out hurt - this is a guy who started several games for the Colts' superbowl teams at defensive end.  And certainly, he'd be a cheaper pickup than Adalius Thomas.

Also, any other pickups that may make sense from the various last cuts?  I would have thought that Joqui Bell might have been a good one, but he's already been signed back to the Bills practice squad
