The Smoking Musket Amazing Happened...

Well, it happened pretty much whenever Pat White wanted it to. Watching this (probably my favorite of all 6 videos in this series) reminds me just how much Pat White improved in his final year as a thrower under Mullen. This throw was 40+ yards on point leading Arnett to the end zone, all the while performing a roll out/fade away type movement and taking a hit. Just unbelievable by our former QB. Someone who was placing passes like Jarrett was in the Spring Game should be one of the better throwing quarterback's in the nation a few games into the season under Mullen's development and guidance. Hell, he might be there before the season starts.

Building on what CW was talking about Slaton and White's impact on recruiting, I have likewise already seen what at least one quartback recruit has said about what Mullen was able to do making White into a much more capable NFL QB in one year. Imagine if he places two dual-threat quaterbacks in the NFL in his first two years here. That fact might catch the eye of athletic QBs who want to make it to the NFL as true dual-threat QB's

Finally, here is the playlist of all 6 of the videos in this fake campaign I have created.

The Smoking Musket No Chance. Really, Just Give Up

Let's be honest, this is a ridiculous series we are in with MU.  A match up like Devine vs. the Turd defense is like the 12 year old kid starting a fight with his 7 year old younger brother: it is just extremely cruel, and disturbing.

The funny part of that analogy is the 12 year old kid did not start the fight, his parents made him start beating his younger brother's ass.

The Smoking Musket Jarret Brown's Running Ability vs. Pat White's

This is something  that could be discussed from a comparison perspective,  NOT someone stating JB is a better runner than The Chief which is obviously a dumbass argument...I will say this JB definitely has power, he also has some elusiveness and tackle breaking ability (which i guess is really a factor of the previous two attributes mentioned)

...Here is Brown's power on display in one of those QB off tackle runs that were more often than not ineffective last season but I think the other teams really knew it was coming. They probably even did this time Jarrett just didn't care.

Got two more of these in the following days and then I may have a real kick ass (well in my opinion at least) follow up to these, we will see

The Smoking Musket Longest Run of 2008 = Clutch

In what I am fairly certain was the longest rushing play from scrimmage in Division 1-A football last year, Noel Devine bounces outside till a crease opened by Will Johnson springs him for this 92-yard sideline race. A race he clearly would never lose.  A very opportune play to help avoid what would have certainly been the most fucked-up disaster to WVU fans since a December night in Morgantown: a loss to the Orangemen.

Hopefully, Devine outdoes his career long run this season, but I think it will be tough if we continue to give him less than 20 carries a game (and/or do not open any holes for him)

The Smoking Musket Alric Arnett, He Can Make Catches With One Hand

He can catch the football using only one hand -- with ease -- as shown in this memorable moment from the Meineke Car Care Bowl (if one is enough, why waste the energy? -- ed.).  I am sure the coaches think doing this is show-boating and arrogant and made him use two hands when catching the ball for the duration of the 2008 season. Though, with nothing to lose in the bowl game, he obviously decided it was showtime and he could deal with the punishment over the offseason and proceeded to style on the haters like so:

If I am correct, you might see similar eye-popping catches in 2009, if he is willing to put up with the coaches getting on his case for not using his fundamentals.

The Smoking Musket WVU Football: It Can Be Amazing (New DougityDog Video)

In a new series of short and swagger-jacked commercials, I bring you these clips of "amazing" moments (or at least what I would say are impressive and exciting moments for any WVU fan). So, from the NBA's creative mind and my fingers, please enjoy the series of 6+ short mock commercials that will come your way (over the following days) courtesy of The Smoking Musket and myself. And please, ask yourself, when will amazing happen next season?

...and allow me to put forward my answer: you never fucking know, so you probably need to watch every second of WVU football in 2009.

Continue reading for more on what to expect this offseason in the form of orignial video content debuting on this site, courtesy of Dougitydog (and possibly others).
