Orlando Pinstriped Post the presence of a PF

orlando is going to have difficulty maintaining depth at the 4 as the summer lends itself to fall and we gear up for the start of the regular season. marcin gortat has become too relevant around the league, undoing his status as the magic's best kept secret and its no secret at all that tony battie is simply not cutting it any more. if the magic are able to resign turk, which i expect them to do then the next order of business should be getting ourselves a quality back up for rashard and dwight.

there are three bigs that i am interested in talking about this offseason including paul millsap, brandon bass, and antonio mcdyess. it seems that utah fans are fairly invested in millsap so his acquisition might be more difficult than i had hoped. however, brandon bass' scouting report makes him sound like a young, better version of tony battie capable of converting on put backs and shooting the 15-17 foot jumper with consistency as well as averaging an 86% clip from the charity stripe. his defensive defencies come from his lack of size when defender a back to the basket style PF. but with dwight howard's insane ability as a help defender, that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

he is an unrestricted free agent this summer and still under his rookie contract making less than 1 million this past season. if it is possible to dump tony battie's contract onto someone, i feel that bass would be a great fit here.

antonio mcdyess is a popular guy on this blog because he is sick nasty awesome and he destorys the magic every time we face off against the pistons. remember the game this season against the pistons (possibly the last game we played against them) where he coralled almost every offensive board in the fourth quarter and stole the game back? yeah, i want that guy. he is old but to have him as a back up for dwight might be a great thing for us. he'd probably get 10-15 minutes per gameand would surely make the most of them. if i were him, i would not be resigning with the pistons to end my career; they are rebuilding.

how does the community feel about these players and what their impact might be for us? is it financially feasible if we unload battie and alstons contracts and resign turkoglu?
