Stephon Heyer

I am sure that I am the only one who thinks so but I believe that a guy who has been a starter for 2 years for us on both sides is an extremely valuable guy. He had his struggles this year but he also played with 4 different guards on the right side and at spent some time on the left side for a few games. I think with the zone scheme we are implementing stephon will be a valued member of our line. As bad as our season was I think that we should not give up on young players like Stephon and Will Montgomery who showed promise and at least have experience in the NFL as opposed to having to rely on a rookie like an Anthony Davis or Russel Okung to come in and have a Michael Oher type of season. Anybody else agree?

Les

I am as mad and upset as anyone here and I think that the way that Les handled the whole game today was simply awful. As the head coach he is responsible for having the players ready to go and clearly that wasn't the case today. Jefferson seemed afraid to run all game, for whatever reason we again did not run the ball enough and the D which has been lightyears better this season was just not on top of their game all day. All of these are failings of the Head Coach and I am unsure of what happened to the man we used to say "fear the hat". My best guess is last seasons debacle has made him coach a little more conservatively with the hope being that less asked will translate into less mistakes. I am not ready to call for Les' head but if we don't play better next week I think we have to start asking ourselves if it's time for him to go.

One thing I am sure of is Gary Crowton's time at LSU should be done. For the better part of the last 2 seasons and even our Title season we seem to ignore our strengths and just start doing wacky crazy things. Today was perfect example on the ,I think, last drive before the end of the 3rd maybe we had a pretty good drive going and then we tried a double fake reverse play action and we of course didn't make it. Jefferson was sacked after waiting too long to get rid of the ball, we had a great drive going using short passing and the run game and instead of staying with it we try to outsmart everyone and only outsmart ourselves. So for me I fire Gary Crowton on the plane ride home but realistically we will probably have to wait till at least the end of the regular season.

I give Les next week to start to right the ship and see what happens after that.

McClain hatchet job

Has anyone else seen McClains Mario article? I mean did he become Dickie Justice 2 overnight?

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6706327.html

I am seriously starting to believe that the Comical's idea of an editor is a 12 yr old girl.

This article has no purpose or facts. Its not even a mean spirited argument its just dumb and everyday the chronicle loses readers is because of articles like this and the VY man love articles that Dickie the original puts out, I cannot wait for the day a real viable alternative to the chronicle comes out.

The Run D, well the D in general

I didn't get to watch as much of the game as I would have liked ,as I was in the awesome Inglorious Basterds, but form what I did see it appeared that we were giving way too much cushion to all the N.O. receivers which is amazingly frustrating but remember this we had at one time a 4th and 6th round pick covering a very good group of receivers who have all been in the league for a good amount of time. Not that makes me feel super about our D but it does make me take a step back, also I was listening to John Harris's rant on 1560 and said that Okam often took the wrong hole and that the D was way over slanted to the strong side almost the whole game. To me pre-season is a time when young players try o prove they belong and new coaches try to impress the boss and as Gregg Williams was just bounced by the Jags and hired to revamp the Saints D he wantec to how everyone how much of a bad ass he still is (and yes believe me as a skins fan as well I know all too well double g's arrogance). So I guess my point is that yes they sucked but they sucked against a great O, a back playing in his Super Bowl and a overall unfamiliarity with their new scheme. I say that if they look this bad against the Jets who have a new rokie Qb or worse Kellen Clemens then yes we should start to wonder and worry but me I'm just planning on enjoying a sport in which our owner isn't too cheap to actually improve the team (Thanks for Mike Hampton, Russ Ortiz and Aaron Boone especially as he has really helped out the youngsters on the team, Also I dislke Coop)
