All the 49ers Great's Talking About the 2011 49ers
There's another link (Montana on Smith) that you can check out when you are there.
This was pretty awesome. I had never seen this before.
Here are some 49ers Highlights from the last matchup against the Saints. It was nice to see these. We lost that game by a bad 1st quarter snap... and we are a much, much better team this year. Better coached as well.
Barry Sanders Jr. to Play in Tomorrow's Army All-American Bowl
Expected to announce decision on where he will attend. Stanford seems to be the front runner but Oklahoma State still in it.
Kickoff is 2pm PST on NBC Sports.
NCAA College Football Bowl Games Thread: Boise State Vs. Arizona State
Fooch's Note: If you want to discuss Kellen Moore and the Las Vegas Bowl, stay here. If you want to discuss TNF, we've got a Texans-Colts thread.
The first few bowl games are always pretty much duds - and unless you attend those particular schools, or are a pro scout, there typically is not much interest in those games. But we are now getting in to the thick of things and the more prestigious games are going to begin flying our way left and right.
With that said (and I know I have brought this up a lot), I feel like some sort of playoffs system gives NCAA Football quite a few more fans. Some folks here will watch to semi-scout some of the talent entering the draft and others will watch out of sheer boredom and nothing else being on TV. I honestly think that an 8-12 team playoff system (with the larger bowl games still in tact) would be a huge justice to the sport.
Tonight's matchup is going to have some pretty good pro level talent. There will be a couple of players that will no doubt have success in the NFL. Others, time will tell.
2011-2012 NCAA Bowls: Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl - St. Petersburg
For the past two years, I have covered a majority of the Bowl Game action. This year Fooch and I will be switching off in the coverage is it is quite a bit for one person to take on fully.
Since there is only one game this evening, this game thread should be relatively short and to the point. The reason (for those of you who are new to the site) that we do Bowl coverage, is so that when draft time comes around, the knowledge of some of these players for a lot of you will be there. It's also to speculate and talk about some of these players and how they may fit in to the NFL.
Time: 5pm PST, 8pm EST

2011-2012 NCAA Football Draft Prospects: Stock Rise and Fall
Bowl Season is upon us and it is about time to start really looking at all the prospects under a microscope from now until April '12. Every year, players that were ranked very high at the start of the year will fall to middle rounds and in some cases even all the way to the bottom, or undrafted in extreme cases. On the flip side of that, some players will come out of nowhere to make a name for themselves in the NFL Draft.
If you are new to the site, for the past two years, I have covered a large portion of the draft material here at Niners Nation; which includes some of the Bowl Games. However, this year, Fooch will be lending a hand as I am getting a bit busier with the site I started up in April of this year (The Hometown Fan). If you are a regular, then you are already familiar with how Niners Nation has run the draft coverage.
In covering the NCAA Bowl Games, it really gives those who missed a good portion of college football this year to zero in at the end of the season for the final games to see who is going to help and hurt their stock.
The idea of this post, is to begin the process.
The past two years, I put together a list of prospects (in general) for folks to get a look at in the 50 in 50 series (2011), and the year prior the 100 in 100 series (2010). This year, once the dust settles from all the bowl games, and leading up to the draft, I will put together something similar to help us get through the offseason counting down to the NFL Draft.
With that said, Kriss Kross and Daddy Mac will make you jump, jump!
NCAA Football Game Thread: Week 14
We're almost at the finish line ... we have a few more games, championship games, and then of course the bowl games to end the 2011-2012 college football season. Shortly after, all the draft stuff will kick in to top gear.
But for now, today, we'll turn the attention to today's action.
There are a few major games this afternoon and evening between ranked teams. The most prestigious of them will be Georgia vs. LSU for the SEC Championship Game. Should LSU lose and Georgia win, it will shake things up considerably. While Georgia is the underdog in this matchup, if they pull off the victory, there will be a ton of chatter, more than there has been and a possible push to implement some form of a playoff system.
After the SEC Championship, there will be two evening games that will draw a lot of attention; The Bedlam Game between the No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners and No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys. Should Bob Stoops push the Sooners to a victory over the red hot Cowboys, then this too, could make things interesting for the final rankings.
The latest game to start will be the Big 10 Championship between No. 15 Wisconsin vs. #13 Michigan State. Both these teams had done very well this season and have either met or exceeded expectations. Both teams do however have a pair of losses. I expect this game to quite possibly be the closest of the four major.

NCAA Football Game Thread: Week 13
Author's Note: Apologies to those who were looking for a game thread earlier. With Thanksgiving Holiday and family stuff going on, it was a bit tough to get this out earlier. But rest assured, you have it now and for the rest of the day.
There's just one more week of college football after today's games ... and just like that, the season is almost over. But just because it is almost over, does not mean there will not be a lot at stake both this weekend and the next. There will be plenty of action today with a few games featuring teams ranked in the Top 25 going up against each other.
The Top 10 teams all still play some tough teams and there is a lot of room left for those teams to slide out of it and get lower bids on less prestigious bowl games. But No. 1 LSU seems to possibly secured a spot in the National Championship game no matter what. The mystery is in who they will play.
The game of the week could very well be Notre Dame at No. 6 Stanford. Even though Stanford has been rolling through just about everyone, Notre Dame has the talent on both sides of the ball to perhaps pull off an upset. Andrew Luck is still in the race to win the Heisman Trophy and if he can he the Cardinal smash the Fighting Irish later this evening, then it's quite possible he could take home that trophy and honor.

And just like that, down go the Pokes and there's another shake up in Cyclone fashion. The No. 2 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys lost yesterday evening at the hands of the unranked Iowa State Cyclones which will shake up the rankings quite significantly once again.
What that does is mix up the possibilities for whoever seemingly will face the LSU Tigers in the National Championship Game. There's quite a significant amount of games left to determine that but the regular season is drawing closer to a close. It will be very interesting to see how the rest shakes out and which teams will be playing one and other in all the major bowl games.
After this week, there are in reality two more significant weeks. Week 15 will be the last game played between Army and Navy. After that, we'll enter the Championship Games.
Follow below to see what games I have highlighted for this afternoon.

NCAA Football Game Thread: Week 10
There's only a few games this weekend that ranked teams will be playing against each other. But the one that most folks will have their eyes glued to is the one between the No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers vs. the No. 2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Both teams have played flawless football up to this point and there is quite a bit at stake in this one. Not only will this game determine who will be ranked number one in the nation, but whoever wins will most likely play in the SEC Championship game and also probably be one of the two teams playing for a National Championship.
There are a few other games that will hold moderate interest but as the season draws closer and closer to being over, teams are starting to buckle down to earn bid spots for even the lower echelon bowl games. This in and of itself can often lead to upsets. And I have a feeling we'll still see a few more of those.
With just four more weeks after this week, it's going to be crunch time for a lot of teams. Some teams that are currently ranked outside of the Top 25 will be fighting, scratching, and clawing their way to get back in. And the teams in the Top 10 will be doing much of the same to hold their spots in the rankings.
Follow after the jump to take a look at a few of the games and players I will feature this week.
NCAA Football Game Thread: Week 9
Last weekend, No. 3 Oklahoma was upset by the unranked Texas Tech Red Raiders which shook up the national BCS rankings slightly. Teams moved up and of course some of them slid as they do every week. However, there are still several teams that are undefeated. Some of these teams may go undefeated for the remainder of the year. By seasons end, there could be four or five teams in the Top 10 that have flawless records and did it by beating some quality teams.
Having a playoff bracket of some sort has been talked about for a while now. By merging a playoff system and the BCS Bowl Games, it could surmount all obstacles and make all parties involved happy for the most part. In fact, it could wind up doubling the amount of money that the teams and programs that appear in the playoff system if done right.
Regardless, it could be a while before any kind of system like that is implemented; but then again you never know. If multiple solid teams make a case for being considered as the No. 1 team in the nation, it could create a dilemma. That dilemma could in turn make the case for an urgency of having a playoff system.
The players that were featured in the hypothetical playoff picture would receive quite a bit more exposure and this in turn could do wonders for their draft stock.
In the meantime, we are all stuck with the current flawed system in which is in place.
Follow after the jump to get the few remaining games of today that could wind up being of interest and feature some possible prospects for the 49ers in next years draft.
NCAA Football Game Thread: Week 8
Fooch's Note: Thought I'd move this back to the top as USC-Notre Dame, Stanford-Washington and a few other games get going tonight.
This season is going by far too fast...
As seems the case of every season. College football is unique in that they play less games than the NFL but the season stretches out longer because of bowl season. Hopefully they'll get that rectified someday with some sort of playoff system. I believe those days are getting close and closer.
In any case, we are now in week 8. In looking the schedule over some, it hardly seems like it will feature the most exciting games this year. In fact, a lot of those games have already came and gone as swiftly as dust in the wind.
But there is still a dilemma that has not yet been resolved. The dilemma in that there are still three legit teams in contention for the No. 1 overall spot in the BCS Rankings. And what happens if LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma all finish their seasons without a loss? Does this push the case for having a playoff system to full throttle? I'd argue that it leaves room for serious discussion and consideration, at least.
With not a ton of five-alarm fire games on the docket, I'd assume most people will be out enjoying the day in their neck of the woods. But for those that are glued to the television for college football each and every Saturday, you can find a list of games I'll preview this week.
For future reference, if you have any games you would like me in a given week, please make the requests in response to any recent comments I leave.
Enjoy!
NCAA Football Game Thread: Week 7
First and foremost, I just wanted to thank Fooch for covering for me last week. You da man Fooch.
This week of college football features very intriguing games. And as expected, as college football always is, there is a lot of things that are unfolding this year that would not have been predicted in the preseason. Who would have thought that just after 6 weeks we would have three teams that are legitimate contenders for that No. 1 spot and are all not showing any signs of slowing down? All three teams are hammering away at the competition like Thor.
Thursday night, USC handled Cal with ease as they cruised to a 30 - 9 victory. Everything was rolling for the Trojans. Matt Barkley looked like a high-round draft pick finally opposed to the late round play he has been churning out week in and week out to this point. The offense was high octane and the defense steam rolled Cal's offense.
The other game Thursday night had San Diego State throwing up 41 points on Air Force who has been on a roller-coaster this year as they struggled to keep up with the SDSU offense coming up short with 27.
There are a bunch of games this weekend of ranked teams facing off against one and other. This week could have a relatively big impact on next weeks rankings. Follow after the jump to find out which games I'll have my eye on today.

2012 NFL Draft Prep: College Football Week Five, Part One
Fooch's Note: No matter how well the 49ers are performing, we'll continue with these posts to help prepare 49ers fans for the 2012 NFL Draft.
After missing a week last year due to time constraints, we are back this week to take a look at some college football prospects that had good weeks and may be good fits on the 49ers roster for next week.
Of course it is nearly impossible at this point in the year to tell what the 49ers will be looking to draft next year in the first round, or any other round for that matter. Moving forward things could change and change a lot. Injuries, good players playing bad, bad players playing good, are all things that could change perspective and views on what next years team will need.
College football happens to be one of the most exciting and unpredictable sporting events out there. There is some predictability but usually when you see two closely matched teams play, the outcome is always the flip of a coin in what the results will be.
Join after the jump to see who makes the list this week.
