I'm not talking about Jeff or Jered, either. I really think ol' Earl would do wonders for a team like ours. Sigh...

The previous diary has been buried, so I thought I'd post a new one regarding the Red Reporter '08 fantasy baseball league. The live draft is scheduled for next Monday (a week from today), and we've only got 7 teams in right now. This is just a reminder to any who are interested in playing that there are still plenty of slots open, but time is running out.

The league is (currently) NL-only, roto, standard scoring (5x5). If you want to play, but want different settings, let me know below--I'm willing to go with the will of the majority here. As it's at yahoo, you'll need a (free) user ID to play.

Hopefully, this link will get you started
http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/joinleague
(Click the "join custom" button once there.)

League ID#: 126399
password: cincy

i thought we had a pretty good time last year doing this (i did, anyway). i know there were two yahoo leagues (one standard, one more sabr- friendly). is anybody else interested in another season? are plans in the works to re-constitute the league(s) and i just hadn't heard yet? does it annoy anyone that it's not yet march and i'm asking about this?

more importantly, will I get to defend my title?

Update [2008-2-23 14:14:33 by Dubman]: Guess I should start to keep track of this more completely. so.... 1) who wants to play? 2) what site (yahoo, cbs, espn, other)? 3) what type (roto, head to head)? 4) what stats (standard, stats geek, other)? vote below.

C.C.?

"Jay" over at Let's Go Tribe says, in the wake of C.C. Sabathia shutting down contract negotiations with the team for now, that Sabathia is as good as gone next year and that "the Indians are now obliged to consider seriously any trade offers involving Sabathia over the next month." Let's assume that's true--is there a deal here for the Reds?

Dreaming 'bout Jay Bruce...

don't want to bump the rumors re: Bedard, but young Mr. Bruce made an appearance in my dream last night. I know nothing about him personally (height, weight, eye color, personality), but nonetheless, there he was.

I was playing backyard baseball with my old high school team at my parents' house. I was wandering around in the "outfield" and saw a dry-erase board with a list of names of players who had hit homeruns on the day. I don't remember who was listed first, but I was second, and below my name was "Jay Bruce." I turned around and there he was, standing in the outfield with me. I introduced myself and told him I was expecting a few more from him in Cincy, just before waking up.

So, does this qualify as some sort of irrational attachment to the youngster on my part?
