Gunning for the UW Trifecta...
Nebraska takes on a 3rd UW in as many games on Oct 1st. Can they complete the UW trifecta? My opinion after the jump.
Are the Blackshirts on Short Leashes?
Three games in and we have seen glimpses of the "D" that we know and love mainly in the 3rd quarter against the Huskies. Have the brothers Pelini really released the Blackshirts in attack mode or are they keeping their hand close to the chest? See my opinion after the jump.
I'll Be Home For..........Red Out Around The World!
For those of you who don't know me I am a U.S. Marine from Nebraska. I am stationed in Okinawa, Japan and I was recently medavac'd from Afghanistan and as much as I miss being with my unit it has given me the opportunity to be back in Nebraska for the October 16th showdown with UT. I can't wait, for me this is better than being home for Christmas. I hope to see fellow Corn Nation members wherever I end up for the game!

Wonder what the Big Ten CG will be named.......
Here is an article that provides just a little more solidification that there will be a Big Ten CG in 2011.
The Polls Appear To Be As Optimistic As I Am
I am sure that most you are well aware many pre-season polls have our beloved Huskers in their Top 10. There is even a #1 spot for us here. I break down my feelings headed into the season after the jump.
Bribery, Have They No Shame?
The following is from an ESPN story http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5289050
Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State and Missouri -- which were in danger of being left homeless if the conference dissolved -- agreed to give up their share in buyout penalties to be paid by Nebraska and Colorado for leaving the league, Beebe said.
The idea is to have that money go to Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, the schools the Big 12 needed to stay to remain viable, to make up for the difference in revenue those three might have made going elsewhere.
The Big Ten, Our New Home
Remember moving into a new home, that first run around the house looking at all the rooms, the different smells, and the new neighbors? Well Husker Nation that is what phase we are in. I have bounced around the Big Ten blogs and it's 11 current members web pages and it seems to me we are much more welcome in the oldest and most traditional conference in all of college football then we ever were in our previous one. There are the stalkers from schools of the future Big XII err Big X or whatever they decide to call themselves (tradition never was important to most of them) that have actually followed Husker Nation to the Big Ten blogs and our new family has been there to offer a hand in taking out the trash.
At first I was put off by the idea of moving, now that it has become a reality I have really grown quite fond of the Big Ten and it being our new home. Wisconsin seems to be that family that comes over first and invites you to a barbecue, they are great people but you know for the rest of your time there you will probably be playing keeping up with the jonses. Now I am not saying anything bad about Wisconsin in fact I find it to be an honor that they want so badly to make us their season ending game every year.
I haven't really heard much bantering over the 1997 NC nor have I seen any of the Husker faithful whip out the 1982 Catch that wasn't on any Penn State fans, this clearly shows we have joined the ranks of a much more mature crowd as I have to hear about how Texas did this or Texas did that to Nebraska on almost a daily basis. I must note that I am a huge Nebraska fan and I am also a Marine, I display my team pride every way I can and a decent chunk of the Marine Corps is made up of Texans.
Well these are a few thoughts however clouded they may from a Marine in Afghanistan that can't wait for the Huskers to slam the door shut in the face of the Big awww lets call it what is really is the Longhorn Conference and take their last Championship Game Trophy home with us.
