There is no such thing as momentum in baseball, and we’ve had any number of examples of this principle in just the last few weeks. The Dodgers are the most obvious one, but take a look at the Mets, who took a devastating loss in Philadelphia on August 26, and were trailing the next night late in the game with their ace having been knocked out. They won that game, and five of the six that followed, all on the road against above-.500 teams. The Phillies, meanwhile, dropped three straight off of that great win. The Dodgers’ performance turned on a dime on the afternoon of August 30. The Yankees had a number of points where it seemed like they would climb into contention, but could never play well over a long enough stretch to contend. The Astros are 29-11 over their last 40 games with essentially the same team that was 47-56 before that. No, wait: they’re doing that while being down their second-best hitter and highest-paid player, Carlos Lee.

Actually, they also have a male squad, that is called the Manatees. Of course, then men are all grotesquely fat. For some reason, male sexuality can only be expressed as a joke.

Heath Ledger, dead at 28.

We've lost another great voice.

http://omg.yahoo.com/heath-ledger-found-dead-in-nyc-at-age-28/news/5898

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan apartment, and police said drugs may have been a factor. The Australian-born actor was 28. Police said Ledger was naked in his bed with an unknown number of sleeping pills near the body.

Ledger had an appointment for a massage at a residence in the tony SoHo neighborhood, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. A housekeeper who went to let him know the massage therapist had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

I heard that NYRoyal will be posting a live update from NY later tonight.

Pretty simple: whats your favorite band?

Mine, probably Smashing Pumpkins. They basically got me through undergrad and law school.

Don't listen as much now, but yes. They will always be my band.

Runners up:

Pearl Jam
Spin Doctors (was once hrdcore, can barely listen now)
Soundgarden

The killer in me is the killer in you.

Either way, our national innocence is shattered. And with it, Dayton Moore's dream of signing Alex. Hillman would have loved putting the hit and run on with him at the plate, and having DeJesus get thrown out stealing 2nd once a week with him up as well.

http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2007/11/14/a-rod-slips-leash-and-returns-to-yanks/

Who knows if this rumor is true or not. The contempt this writer has for Alex is fairly evident no matter what.
