Florida Gator Fan, Dwight Howard Fan, Blake Griffin Fan, Magic fan
David Robinson is my role model. While the rest of the world was wrapped up in Air Jordan (he was amazing) I was enthralled with The Admiral. Such a class act, dedicated, and accomplished player and person. If you ever want to point anyone to what an athlete should be, just point to David Robinson.
My favorite position in sports is the center (and sometimes power forward) in basketball. There's nothing more imposing and dominating than a great center on the court, in my opinion.

General FSU Hate Thread No. 1
Figured we could use a thread to just hate and rag on that former girls school, of course they steal shoes, surprised they haven't stolen chocolate yet ...
.
So list your favorite memes, jokes, put downs, new comebacks and any other (reasonably true) quips of FSU here.
Maybe we should use a disclaimer - but the only thing that I'm saying for sure is off limits here is ... affirmative action and the NAACP and all racial or ethnic slurs not directed at the FSU mascot and sport teams' nickname.
So get ready you headless hoo-has the jort army is coming
Do Looks Matter?
In Edward Aschoff's Article over on GatorNation at ESPN you'll find an interesting tid bit towards the bottom.
Until things are settled in the passing department, Brissett said he’s comfortable having one advantage: the looks.
"That’s just something [Driskel] has to deal with," he said.
Glad we settled one thing with this quarterback battle.
Not going to argue with Jacoby on how he views himself as better looking than Jeff, but it got me thinking ... Does a quarterback's looks help, ultimately, his ability to play?
They say confidence breads success and the better looking you are, the better looking you perceive yourself. The better you perceive yourself the more confident you are at taking chances (oft times unnecessary ones). The more confident you are that you can take chances the more likely you are to take the right chances or make the most of the chances you have.
So I pose some questions. Do looks factor into your evaluation of a player? And if you say no, Would you pick Terry Bradshaw over Dan Marino? Bradshaw has 4 rings.
What about the, currently making of a, classic Peyton Manning versus Tom Brady? Do you consider Brady better looking?
Back to the Gators: Would you consider Sexy Rexy (Grossman) better looking than Danny Wuerffel? Or Tebow? Or how about ESPN analyst and former Gator QB Jesse Palmer? Who was better Palmer or Doug Johnson? I still find that a hard one to answer for myself (play wise, not looks).
After the jump a poll and my view of whether looks or the confidence to express your looks is even a justifiable evaluation point.
Joakim Noah is a Riot
Florida Spring Practice Starts Tomorrow: Who Must Improve Most?
Hopefully, this poll will induce Andy or FlaGators and the bunch to put up something about the Spring Practice key battles and their plan to covering it, especially the open practices on March 16 and 17. (Watch this space tomorrow for more on that! –Andy)
Fox Sports has a breakdown of where Florida stands just before spring practices, and Will Muschamp's hopes for fewer surprises this season.
Without further prolonging the poll, here you go. And, also, maybe tell us if you plan on attending the Orange & Blue debut on April 7th? I'll be there with my 18-month-old son and my dad. I plan on making this a tradition to go every year with my son, and hopefully my dad with him as well.
Why Can't This Work
Why can't we just re-align the divisions in away that benefits the majority?
We know Florida & Georgia will always be in the same Division, there's really no scenario where that doesn't happen.
I purpose a solution.
Let's move Auburn, and Mississippi State to the East. Then let's move Tennessee and Missouri to the West.
Then in act the PAC-12 rule where in-state schools play each other every year, but everyone else has no protected rivals.
Geographically it makes sense. The potential for an Alabama Auburn rematch in the SEC championship game makes financial sense. Power wise, it makes sense as well. Bama & LSU still rule the West, and the East still has Florida and Georgia as perennial powers.
Looks like this
EAST
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Mississippi State
South Carolina
Vanderbilt
WEST
Alabama
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi
Missouri
Tennessee
Texas A&M
Voice your concerns.
For me this brings back the Auburn Florida rivalry, and ensures the Oldest Rivalry in the South lives on. The West has it's Missouri/Arky/Texas A&M 3 way going on, heck throw in LSU and they are all having a grand old time, as well as that vaunted October match for Bama and UT. Tennessee also gets back that Ole Miss series. And Ole Miss gets to keep all it's Rivalries due to the in-state (PAC-12) rule I'm tossing in there.

What's Worse? Brantley finishing out the Bowl game or the possibility of losing out on Nelson Agholor?
If you thought Weis leaving a tad late into the off season was stinky think about the fact that Muschamp is considering starting Brantley for the bowl game and that you will have to endure another eye gouging Florida game. (even I hope and pray that two weeks to prepare will give us the benefit of the doubt)
Poll: Who do you want Missouri to play every year?
In the wake of Missouri coming to the SEC finally being official. The proposals I've seen have the Tigers in the SEC East, the conference keeping an 8 game schedule with (6 division games, 1 protected cross-division rival, and a rotation of the other 6 cross division teams to fill the last spot), and the (one that I find still up in the air) Missouri playing Texas A&M every year as protected cross division rivals.
Florida's Wuerffel to Play Georgia's Green
Not sure why this hasn't been talked about yet but in a great cause Desire Street Ministries (founded by good ole Danny) is hosting a golf tournament prior to the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.
Jack Youngblood is the captain of the Florida team along with Gator greats Danny Wuerffel, Chris Doering, and Shane Matthews. Vince Dooley along with David Green and Kevin Butler.
If anyone wants to go out and support the Gator greats details and the ability to donate are provided at the site and link.

Coach Boom Provides Umph!
I know I don't speak for everyone, but I am thoroughly behind Coach Will Muschamp, aka Coach Boom. He is a joy to watch and I know I am getting his all, he wants to win, and he makes sure his players know that he wants to win just as much if not more than them. But most of all I love the intensity he uses to stick up for his players.

Georgia Pro Combat Unis FAIL
At least Florida's Nike Pro Combat uniforms had a decency to them. These just flat out are an eye sore. The thing I liked the most out Florida's pro combat uniforms was the white helmet with the new age F in current Florida lettering. Those were sweet. If only we had beaten 'Bama with those in the all whites. that was a classy look. Dang you D-line and you especially Dunlap.
Did Jeff Demps Change his number to 28?
Scroll the gallery of images from practice, and you'll notice number 28 carrying the rock in a few and it is labeled as Jeff Demps.
this is the first I've heard of this if that is the case.
Jeff Demps, track or football?
Nice article from ESPN on Jeff Demps future.
J-Rich to the Bulls?
I was perusing the comments on a story on NBA.com and I came across one made by a Bulls fan of the acquiring of Vince Carter. Now this to me sounded funny, as we’ve witnessed the sudden fall from grace that Carter was perched on, and Suns fans even more so. But the next comment, also by a Bulls fan, struck me even more. The commenter suggested the acquiring of Jason Richardson to the Bulls.
That’s when I realized that perhaps signing Richardson would be better for the Magic than letting him walk.
Amnesty & Interesting situations
Dave @ Blazersedge has a good breakdown of some Amnesty questions. He's a reliable source for NBA CBA and contract coverage.
http://www.blazersedge.com/2011/5/26/2192707/blazersedge-mailbag-may-27th-2011-the-amnesty-edition
His ending remarks left wondering what would happen if the Magic made a swap ... after the amnesty was used of course.
What do the Magic have to do (Roster wise) to keep D12?
I’ve recently seen on NBA.com the efforts to keep Dwight Howard in Orlando after 2012. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/04/22/magic-fan-fighting-for-dwight/?ls=iref:nbahpt1
This got me to thinking. What are some necessary moves that keep Dwight Howard?
The first thing I see most people say is to grab Chris Paul. I think that is an obvious route to pursue, but how? And is that the only one? Most definitely not. Grabbing Chris Paul would not automatically improve this team to Championship caliber status. Would make them contenders? Yes, but they are contenders now, would they be better contenders? I’m not sure, it depends on what they had to give up.
So, since I’m not a salary guru or trade machine junkie, I’m going to break down some roster moves that make the Magic a top notch contender after 2012. With the roster I give you Dwight would not leave and attracting a player like Chris Paul would be all the more successful.
Oh Odin's Raven! My Gatorography
Let me get this out of the way first. I don't have time to write for this site, although I wish I could. I am not writing this to impress anyone or obtain privileges. I am writing this becuase FlaGators and Cards inspired me with their stories; although mine doesn't involve a hat (but I do own some nice ones).
I was born in the biggest Gator city in the USA, Jacksonville, FL. No it's not where the throne is, and there are too many Noles and Dawgs fans there, but nonetheless its fan majority swears fealty to Gator Nation.
My father was born in NC, went to the same school as Michael Jordan, and always rooted for the Tar Heels in NCAA basketball and the Bulls in the NBA. Football wise he loved the Gators but when I was first growing up he seemed to carry all the up down seasons of the 70's and 80's with him, always fearing they would be mediocre again. So in my early youth he was more of a Miami Dolphins fan, big Dan Marino fan.
My mother was from Texas and growing up I spent alot of time with her dad, who was an FSU fan. Somehow that never stuck with me. Instead I got the Dallas Cowboys from him. My other grandpa was a FSU fan first, a Gator 2nd, and a Hurricane last ... how that works I'll never truly know. He once tried to explain it to me as, he rooted for the state of Florida always (he too was from NC).

Gators Go Paintballing
Probably in an effort to avoid further injuries and to build team unity, and maybe to plaster some of the guys who have been ticking him off, Coach (Boom) Will Muschamp took the team Paintballing Thursday before the spring game.
Gordon & Griffin Top 5 Duo
This article is about Raymond Felton & Amare Stoudemire but the graph in shows that Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin are infact the #5 scoring duo in the NBA this year. Check it out.
Question
Why does Blake Griffin wear an arm sleeve during the second half of certain games? Is it due to injury? the other team playing dirty?

You're seriously going to condone Miller's body check?
So let me get this straight, if Greg Oden had come back from his first knee injury, played as dominant as he had last season, and instead of blowing his knee cap in the Houston game attempting to block a shot, Aaron Brooks Shane Battier comes running at him full speed and rams him into the ground from his backside, you would be fine with Battier doing this? Battier would somehow be justified because Oden is bigger than him and has been pushing him around all night. (Because a big is supposedly supposed to make room for a little guy, yeah right) Y'all would be screaming for Battier's head. Let's say that the move Battier put on Greg didn't hurt him, does that make it justifable? seriously, would you want your kids to ever be on the receiving end of something that malicious and disrespectful, much less be the a-hole to actually commit the offense. I would hope we would have raised our kids that we must play within the rules of the game, that we don't stoop down to someone's level, that part of being an adult is being able to rise above petty and selfish actions and responses. If Miller wants to try and make himself feel better by saying the league is soft and come up with dead end excuses as to his punishment being unfair (Fisher was suspended, for something not quite as violent) and you all want to be homer fans and condone his actions and tell your kids that what he did was justifiable then go ahead. But you're fooling yourself and ruining the sport and way we treat each other.

Alex Tyus is Killing Florida Basketball
As if the favoring the up and coming underclassmen over the senior wasn't enough indication the loss to UCF better be.
I believe when Billy says "Our issues are bigger than this loss ... We have a bunch of guys on the floor that make nobody better," he's talking about Alex Tyus numero uno. The guy is playing without passion, looks lost on the court, and selfish when he does get the ball. Alex hasn't played defense yet this year, just ask Jared Sullinger at Ohio State if Alex played any D on him.
If Donovan is being completely honest when he considers making changes, to the tune of swapping veteran starters for underclassmen, then at least I know he's not blind. Anyone can see that the underclassmen have more of a fire to them than Alex Tyus has. I used to see it when he was a soph, but he plays lackadasiacal (if that really is a word) and as if the games don't matter until late January or February.
Earth to Tyus, there's almost half a season before then and if you don't beat the teams you play you're not going to have a NCAA tournament appearance.
I can give the freshmen a pass, most of them seem to be learning how to gel together, how to play collegiate athletes, and how to win. It seems like the last thing on their mind is, how do I impress the scouts, how do I get mine.
We're not good enough to have anybody, especially not Tyus, take plays off. We will be that good, probably next year, but I can't see that this year. Not when Macklin suffers from bad knees and bad defense, Parsons has an aversion to setting up the offense and is acting too erving walker like with his drives to the hoop, Walker being a turnover machine, still (has gotten a tad better over the last two games), and Tyus being somewhere else on the court.
Please Billy, get Tyus down to 13 minutes a game, and get Will Yeguete 10, Patric Young 19, Erik Murphy 19 and give Vernon Macklin 19. And start Murphy over Tyus.
O-Line the cause for concern
When the offensive line (A certain someone's baby) keeps committing the same miscues from the first game, we might as well thank God that we even beat Georgia.
Addazio, You Have no... MARBLES!
I continued to be shocked and amazed at the comments proceeding forth from Steve Addazio's mouth.
"I don’t think Mike Pounceyhas ever played any better than he is playing right now to be honest with you. I don’t think Marcus Gilbert has ever played better than he is playing right now. I think Mo Hurt is playing great football."

ONLY GATORS Get Out Alive
Earth to Steve Addazio? Come in Steve? Are you still running the dive?
How is Mike Pouncey playing better than he has in the past two seasons? Does anyone remember this many bad snaps? or how about this many runs for loss? The reason Jeff Demps can't break aways is because he get's blown up in the backfield all the time, because the offensive line can't block, and yes that includes Mike, Marcus, and Mo.
It's like Addazio is saying, "I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many dive play books, and my place smells of rich mahogany."
I'm going to have Champ Kind smash Steve Addazio's face in a car windshield, then take his mother out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!!!
That's all the anchorman quotes I'm going to be kind enough to use with Addazio.
Boston Media Calls for Howard's Demise
Boston Media wants Howard to be "Rambis-ed" ala Kurt Rambis and Kevin McHale.
What's up with this belief that Howard intentionally hurt Glenn Davis? Anyone with two working eyes (and the correct perscription glasses if necessary) who has seen the play where Baby got clocked, would know that, Howard was just the instrument, but Nate Robinson was the offender. Next time Baby to actually jump and maybe his head won't be under Howard's elbow.
Does Howard Need to Work on Post Moves?
I keep hearing Internet chatter about Dwight Howard's post moves or ineffectiveness of his repertoire of post moves.
Does Dwight really need to spend the off season working on Post moves or should he work on a jump shot? I contend that last night's Game 3 between the Suns and the Lakers, Phoenix F/C Amare Stoudemire is exhibit A. Amare has long been known to have an offensive game and aggression but not a defensive presence of note. Amare is able to drive to the hoop with little resistance based on a few factors. The Magic employ some of these factors. Amare can drive to the hoop because he is surrounded by three point shooters (except when Robin Lopez is on the floor) which creates spacing, the Magic employ this strategy as well. Amare can get to the rim more often because he is not only a threat from 5 ft, but he is a threat from 15 to 18 ft as well. Granted, Amare does not have the shooting percentage Dwight does, but then again, Amare is taking more shots per game than Dwight and is more of an offensive threat than Dwight because of it. Amare can put his team on his back without barrelling into the paint, something Dwight does not do at this present moment. Patrick Ewing, Dwight's current mentor, was able to hit from 15 ft out, he was able to carry his team. Dwight is a better defender than Patrick, but Patrick was a better overall center than Dwight presently is, and the main difference is the jump shot.
Which Dwight does have but he doesn't use. (after the jump)
The next Horford and Noah
Billy's words
Billy D is on FIRE!!!
Billy Donovan has been carving up the Recruiting landscape. After securing 2010 McDonald's All-American F/C Patric Young (also on USA Minor Select Team at Nike World Hoop Summit) and 4 star G/F Casey Prather Donovan has hit the ground running over the past 4 days.
First Billy Lands former McDonald's All-American Mike Rosario as a transfer from Rutgers. Mike averaged around 16 points in the Big East as a freshman. Most importantly with Mike you get a guy who wants to win, as that was his biggest draw to Florida, "the chance to win." However Mike won't be available til 2011-2012 season.
Then Billy goes and gets Will Yeguette, a 3 star Forward from Florida Air, where Walter Hodge is from. Will is another incoming freshman with a penchant for rebounding and playing physical. Which for anyone who paid attention to this past season where two glaring weaknesses.
Next Billy gets Cody Larson, a 3/4 star recruit from South Dakota. At 6'9" he draws similar comparisons to the last South Dakota Florida hoops recruit, Mike Miller.
And finally, Scottie Wilbekin, a PG/combo guard is firming up a commitment to the Gators, pending NCAA approval, since he is graduating as a junior from high school. He's listed as a 3 star recruit but some scouts have made note that he would be at least a 4 star recruit next year. Nabbing him before then is just that much sweeter.
That makes 3 to 4 frontcourt players and 2 to 3 backcourt players with the gem of the class being the physical and defensive Patric Young.
Note that in order for all players to sign, some one besides Shipman has to leave the program. The likely candidates are Nimrod Tishman, Adam Allen, or Alex Tyus. Tyus would be entering the Draft, Allen calling it quits at Florida after 2 knee injuries, and Tishman going home to Israel to make money playing instead. I can't see Tyus being even a 2nd round pick this draft with all the talent that has entered the pool, and if he is, the probablity of him being a late 1st round to early 2nd round next year seem to be dramaticlly better than this year. Which leads me to believe that either Allen or Tishman has expressed a desire to leave the team to Billy. But if Tyus is just ready to move on, he may go to the draft regardless, remember he did want to transfer last offseason.
