NCAA Tries to Foreshadow Big 12's Demise
Seems this list of conferences on shopncaasports.com is missing a certain conference located in the Great Plains.....
Open Game Thread: KSU vs Loyola-Chicago
Better late than never. Again, we'll skip the visuals since I'm incompetent and can't find a good Loyola logo. Here's to the start of a successful K-State basketball season.
You. Have. Got. To. Be. Joking.
Apparently all those people standing in the most populace part of KU's campus, at one of the busiest times of the day, didn't see a damn thing. The power of Lew Perkins has a further reach than we first thought.
Stewart Mandel Projects Cats to Sun Bowl
Yes, it's very freaking early to talk about bowl game considerations. Still, it's fun to guess where K-State may end up for Christmas break. While Stanford isn't exactly an exciting match up possibility, I wouldn't care if we were playing Tennessee Tech again as long as we got the extra month of practice. Now if we can just win one of our next two...
5 Issues That Could Derail Snyder's Comeback Season
Curtis Kitchen had an excellent analysis of what 5 things need to happen for K-State to reach a bowl game in Bill Snyder's first year back as head coach. We here at BOTC are realists, and we realize things can go wrong, and football seasons that seemed so promising can end as gorey as a Zack Snyder movie.
I'm not pessimistic by nature. Actually, I consider myself to be an optimist. I try to find the good in most situations. So, don't take this as some pathetic cry that this 2009 season is doomed. However, it is worth taking a look at what issues could turn this season into more of a nightmare than a dream. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.
Fox Sports Net to air K-State Football Preview
Debut is tonight at 5:30 (Central). Don't worry if you can't see it tonight, because it airs about 80 other times over the next couple of weeks.
Denis Clemente Trick Shot
Someone get this guy a McDonald's commercial with Bird and Jordan.
Crazy.
MLB.com features former Wildcat Drew Biery
It isn't taking Drew very long to find his groove at the professional level. Good stuff, but I'd take the nickname as an insult, IMO.
Former KSU Pitcher Carlos Torres Could be Called Up to the Show
Yes, it's summer, which means unless your university is handing out player suspensions or announcing crappy accounting practices, it is slow as hell. But, summer also means it's baseball season, and this sounds like good news for a former Wildcat.
Good luck to Carlos if this rumor turns out to be truth. I hate the White Sox, but I could learn to cheer for them every 5th day or so.
Bob Krause Talks About Economics
In this article about the recent rash of coaching changes in college football, Bob Krause explains why it made economical sense to fire Ron Prince.
Bob Krause explaining economics makes about as much sense as John Goodman teaching an aerobics class.
Facility Improvements Officially on Hold
Not that any of this is a big surprise to most of us at BOTC. Currie and Schulz have a hell of a hill to climb.
Bat Cats Earn #2 Seed in Houston Regional
The dream season for the K-State baseball team continues as the Cats are set to play their first ever NCAA Baseball Tournament game on Friday in Houston at Rice's Reckling Park. KSU will face off against the #3 seed Xavier Muskateers. Game times have yet to be announced.
Check back in the coming days for updates regarding game times and any possible radio or TV schedule.

Watch K-State in the Big 12 Baseball Tournament for Free
If your job allows you the opportunity, tune in Wednesday at 9 a.m. to watch the Bat Cats take on the Chickenhawks. Hopefully we gain a little revenge from the pounding we took this past weekend.
O.J. Mayo's "advisor" given money from Tim Floyd?
Count me as one of those not surprised by this. I'm actually shocked something like this didn't come out sooner. Count this as one of the several reasons I'm glad K-State missed on Mayo.
Josh Freeman to Have Private Workout with the Jets
Rumors are out there that the Jets won't even have a shot at Josh with their 17th overall pick. The kid is definitely impressing the right people at the right time.
Good luck, Josh. Make us proud.
The Quandary of Jacob Pullen
Last season, Jacob Pullen was potentially a lasting bright spot in the afterglow of the Michael Beasley era at K-State. The young point guard from Chicago proved he had the skills to hang with the best athletes in the country. He averaged 9.7 points and 3.3 assists per game while being the spark plug for a Wildcat team that would be the first reach the NCAA Tournament in more than a decade.
Fast forward to this 2008-2009 season, and Pullen is a mystery to many fans. His scoring average is higher (13.4 ppg) and he is dishing the ball to his teammates at a similar pace to last season. Yet, this is not the same Jacob Pullen we thought we would see.
Clemente Receives One Game Suspension
Clemente will sit out tonight's game against NC Central.
Thank God this schedule worked in our favor.
That is all I will say.
Report: Dimel Coming Back to KSU
According to the folks at gopowercat.com, Dana Dimel will be hired as the newest offensive coach at K-State. While his role for the Wildcats is yet to be determined, he coached tight ends and running backs at Arizona. Dave Brock's departure to Boston College opened the door for Dimel - a former assistant under Bill Snyder - to return to the place where he started his career.
Lottery to be Used for Line Procedure at KU Game
I know there are many who will not be happy about this, but it's probably the most efficient way to make sure no one cuts the line or "saves a spot" for 30-40 people. I heard from a couple of people that this was a problem last year. I'm sure there will be glitches to work out this first year, but should be good in the long run.
By the way, I wonder why I never got asked to be on the Student Spirit Advisory Committee.
Mountain West Wants Auto Bid to BCS games
The BCS and NCAA should take this into serious consideration. The MWC is a large step above the next lowest conference, which is probably the Sun Belt or Conference USA.
Unfortunately, "too much money involved" will be the reason the schools in the MWC won't get this to pass.
Bob Krause to Step Down as AD
If this is true, then our prayers have been answered. More details to come as the day presses on.
Postgame Reaction: Nebraska
For the second year in a row, K-State traveled roughly 2 hours north and took a 40-minute nap and woke up on the end of a lopsided loss. Just replace Alecs Maric with Paul Velander (I just heard a collective "who?") and the games are pretty much mirror images.
Except this year's version puts the Cats in an 0-3 hole to start the conference schedule.
Hit the jump to read the recap. (Warning: Due to the graphic nature of horrible basketball, reader discretion is advised.)
One More Reason Why I Don't Watch Sportscenter
Sportscenter is apparently helping Michael Jordan sell some shoes.
It's nice to know the anchor, Josh Elliot, thinks his employer, the WWL, has reached beyond the lines of absurdity.
Ladies Start KU Week on a Nice Note
As Panjandrum stated below, it's KU week. So, knowing how much those of us in Purple Nation hate all things Crimson and Blue (copyrighted), the K-State women started our week off nicely by defeating the hated chickenhawks this weekend. Oh, how I loathe thee...
Texas Gets No Respect
From the great Joe Posnanski. Apparently no one told Crosby that BCS schools ranked #3 can claim the "no respect" card.
Dickey Hired as O-Line Coach
No, not that Dickey. Snyder has snatched another from the Sugar Bowl Champions.
I See You, Girl
The last few weeks for K-State fans have been flooded with news and speculation about Bill Snyder's coaching staff and the play of a men's basketball team striving to make back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances. Meanwhile, the women's basketball team has been flying under the radar.
Well, I don't think a 12-0 start that is the best in school history can be considered flying under the radar. But, it's true, our ladies in purple have not gotten the appropriate love from some of us in the blogosphere or other media outlets. No more, I say.
Austin Meek's Interviews Lya Wodraska About Andy Ludwig
Yes, it's a slow time of year here at BOTC. With basketball taking a breather for the holidays, I've found this link from the Topeka Capital-Journal. It's become no secret that Utah fans are not sad to see Ludwig make his way to Manhattan, but at least Ms. Wodraska offers us a little bit better glimpse of our new OC.
As an added bonus, Wildcat fans should be watching the Sugar Bowl with a keen eye since it will be the "Andy Ludwig Preview Show".
Open Game Thread: K-State vs. Centenary
Sorry to get this up so late. Not sure if any one is going to be around this afternoon to post on the thread, but feel free to do so if your around.
Hopefully we can continue to roll into the holiday break.
VOTE FOR JORDY NELSON!
We already know Jordy Nelson is a certified, class A bad ass, but now we can choose to see him on a Super Bowl commercial. The NFL is asking fans to vote on which player's commercial they will play during the Super Bowl. Just clink this link and vote for Jordy. Vote as many times as you can/want!
If you don't vote, you will be subjected to watching "Kiss Cam" highlights instead of the Super Bowl.
