I Like This Guy's Thinking.

I'm not sure if any of you read The Bleacher Report, or, if you do, not sure you take it all that seriously. I read it on days when there's no baseball, or just a lazy day...which is most days. I like these trade suggestions that the writer (Bobbie Bonner) made, with the exception of the Soto one. I don't think we give up on him quite yet (he DOES need to lay-off the eye liner tho).

The A's Need The Cubs' Help

Tonight, I was reading Rob Neyer's article on American League contending teams "wish list" from 5/29/11. Here's what he has to say about the Oakland A's: Oakland Athletics (27-27, -1.5)Hey, ...

Can't say it any better than Lincecum

Ya gotta love Tim Lincecum. I couldn't agree more with his opinion on adding another team to the playoff mix. What do ya got to say about this, Timmy?... "Personally I think it's kind of funky, just because the game has been this way for so long. Why mess it up, other than for monetary purposes, and that's probably what (Selig) is looking at. That's like, 'OK, don't worry about us as human beings or players.' "It doesn't seem very fair, and personally I don't know where his head is at. It doesn't seem right to me." "Nobody wants to have to worry, 'Oh (expletive), now I've got another (expletive) team in the (expletive) mix. Now we have to worry about what that takes and what they're going to do.' What if the (second) wild-card team is not deserving of getting in? I never really liked the Wild Card. I know it makes it exciting and everything for teams who aren't good enough to win a division, but, now they are possibly creating a scenario where a team that finishes THIRD in a division could get into the playoffs and, if they get hot at the right time, could win a World Series. That's ludicrous. I know one Wild Card team from each division is necessary to keep playoffs even, and that can't change unless they go back to 2 divisions OR give a first round bye (which would be even dumber). Selig needs to concentrate more on things like instant replay, the Dodgers and the Mets and quit trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Cubs Prospects Winter Ball Update

A little peek at how some of the "kids" did over the winter.

Be careful out there, BCBers.

Sounds like a helluva blizzard on its way, from what I'm reading and seeing on TV. Up to 20" in some places. Find yourself a less fortunate Cardinal or White Sox fan to do your necessary shoveling...

No replay for '11

Al ain't gonna like this. If you're gonna do a write up on this, Al, just delete this.

Managers of the year...unbelievable!

I have a slight problem with Gardenhire winning this, but, he's deserved it before and didn't get it, BUT, Black winning is an injustice. Maybe it's my pure hatred of the SD organization, but, how do you award a guy whose team BLEW an 8 game lead and absolutely crumbled down the stretch? This shoulda went to either Baker, Bochy or Cox, in my opinion.

The Oakland A's say "Let's Play 2".

The good ole days. Doubleheaders on Sundays...sometimes even during the week. Maybe even one on a holiday. Heck, some teams don't even play at all on some holidays. The almighty dollar has put the stop to doubleheaders. Maybe a doubleheader or 2 would keep the season from running into November.

Sparky Anderson passes away at 76.

One of the all-time great managers and the master-mind driving the "Big Red Machine". "I got good players, stayed out of their way, let them win a lot and then just hung around for 26 years."

Rick Morrissey's take on the managerial wait

Ya see...I'm not the only one. You hire without making sure of Girardi's interest...you're settling for 2nd best. You can't deny that. Ok...I'm ready...bring the assault on. "If it turns out that Cubs general manager Jim Hendry never gave Girardi the time of day, somebody ought to open up an inquest"

More surgery for Bob Uecker

Here's hopin' Mr. Uecker AGAIN bounces back from this and is back to his old self in 2011. The broadcast booths need more guys like this.

I don't understand a Cubs fan's thinking...and I'm a Cubs fan

As I jump around to different threads on BCB, I'm reading things that confuse me, somewhat. First let me say that I enjoy ALL your posts, whether they are meant to be serious or are written "tongue...
