I've been a Broncos fan since 1983. I moved from Germany to Midwest City, Oklahoma and like any 12 year old in this country, I needed a favorite football team. Everyone in Oklahoma is a Dallas Cowboys fan. Being 12 years old, I couldn't very well do what everyone else was doing. The other "local" professional team was the Houston Oilers. And they were bad back then, which is an important consideration for a 12 year old. The Oklahoma Sooners were probably technically a "professional" football team, but they didn't play any NFL games. That meant I had to choose from the Kansas City Chiefs or the Denver Broncos. Remember, this was in the good old days of the Orange Crush uniforms. Those uniforms were clearly superior to the Chiefs uniforms. And I liked the color combination of the orange and blue. Based on that very scientific analysis by my 12 year old brain, I settled on being a Denver Broncos fan. It didn't hurt that the Broncos had some rookie Quarterback that wore #7 who was pretty good. I can never remember his name though...
Fast forward to today....and we live just north of Chicago, have a young daughter, and two dogs. Still trying to get the young girl to see the wisdom of the Denver Broncos. But she's intent on being a fan of another nameless NFL team with a "cute" QB. Girls will be girls, I suppose.
